A Nikki Haley standoff in South Carolina

South Carolina blogger and consultant Will Folks has announced the release of cellphone records "related to the ongoing 'Haley-gate' scandal" to local South Carolina media covering his allegations of an affair with gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley. And at the same time, RedState's Erick Erickson is promising to release proof that Folks is doing this because he has been paid:

RedState now confirms through a whole heap of sources that he’s been trying to sell this story for a year... you guys in the media, you’ve let Folks string you along. We’re going to string you along.

The surreality of this aside, obviously a confirmed story from Folks is going to be more damaging than any back story on why he came out with it.
