'They're not going to call me a racist'

Black Republican Les Phillip, one of the challengers to party-switching Rep. Parker Griffith (R-Ala.), hits the airwaves with an ad casting himself as, well, the anti-Obama -- images of the president, Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright splay across the screen as Phillip happily proclaims, "They're not going to call me a racist." (The first image of Obama is a forgery, for whatever that's worth.)

A little back story: Phillip is a client of BaseConnect, the GOP direct mail/media firm that occasionally comes into criticism for its fees in the early stages of campaigns. As a black Republican who has never had qualms about attacking Obama, Phillip has been an ideal, attention-grabbing BaseConnect client.
