Tim James's 'speak English' ad, focus-grouped
Alabama gubernatorial candidate Tim James became a minor Internet sensation after running an ad in which he quietly, emotively made the case for English-only driver's license exams.
The James campaign basked in the attention, and now it Is sending around a clip of a Frank Luntz focus group watching the ad on Sean Hannity's Fox News Channel show. It peaks at 92 percent positive ratings from Republican viewers and 61 percent from Democrats.
"Of all the ads we've tested," says Luntz, "I don't think we've had any that have been so controversial, and done so well as this one."
