Tom Coburn blocks Dana Perino
That's one of the repercussions of Sen. Tom Coburn's (R-Okla.) decision to deny Democrats votes on 108 stalled nominees today. One of the blocked nominees: former White House press secretary Dana Perino, picked for the Broadcasting Board of Governors.
This isn't a new Coburn hold, but it defies the theory -- proffered by Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) -- that Republicans can be "shamed" into giving up their objections.
