Morning Bits

By Jennifer Rubin

The definitive word on Michael Vick and the president.

The definitive, noxious example of leftist disdain for the military. And whom does he suppose provides for his physical safety?

The definitive poll of Yale students suggesting Ivy League students are saner than those left-leaning faculty members who seek to indoctrinate them. "Of the 1,346 undergraduates surveyed this November, almost 70 percent support the establishment of an ROTC unit on campus. Nearly 300 respondents who are not in ROTC expressed interested in participating in the program, and almost 100 said they would consider joining ROTC if a unit were established at Yale."

If you needed any more definitive evidence of the left-leaning J Street's questionable practices, Ben Birnbaum has the goods. "The Middle East lobby J Street -- a tax-exempt 501(c)4 organization -- paid tens of thousands of dollars to a consulting firm co-owned by its founder and president, Jeremy Ben-Ami, according to internal documents obtained by The Washington Times. The documents, including invoices sent to J Street, show that Ben-Or Consulting -- the Tel Aviv-based public-relations firm Mr. Ben-Ami co-founded in 1998 while living in Israel -- charged J Street at least $56,000 over a roughly six-month period.... According to nonprofit analysts, Mr. Ben-Ami's stake [in J Street] creates a conflict of interest that runs afoul of ethical -- if not legal -- restrictions on acts of 'self-dealing,' in which an officer in a tax-exempt organization receives undue benefit from that organization's transactions. 'Even if it's technically legal, it gets very messy when you have these sorts of deals going on because, if you're going to benefit on the other end of it, be it 100 percent or 5 percent, it raises questions about objectivity and the arms' length in the transaction,' said Ken Berger, president of Charity Navigator."

The left awaits definitive proof that START and don't ask, don't tell constitute a "comeback" for Obama. "President Barack Obama's job approval rating for Dec. 26-28 is 47%, down slightly from his post-midterm-election peak of 49% recorded last week, and close to his average level of approval since November. Currently, 46% of Americans disapprove of Obama's job performance." You don't think it could be that no one cares, do you?

There may be a definitive leader in the RNC race. And if the identity of the replacement for Michael Steele mattered all that much, it would be big news.

Tom Joscelyn writes the definitive post on why DNI James Clapper's cluelessness is a big deal.

The definitive explanation from the president of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy as to why we need hearings on the rise of Islamic extremism. "The fact is, we can't go into 2011 without a discernible strategy on how to defeat Islamist radicalization. House hearings on Muslim radicalization would only be the first step toward finally crafting a U.S. offensive against political Islam. Again, only liberty-minded Muslims working from within Muslim communities can counter the narrative of Muslim victimization. But America needs to be unashamed of taking the side of those Muslims who advocate reform against political Islam. In 2011, more Americans need to understand that jihadism is a natural by-product of a political Islam that is incompatible with Western secular democracies based in liberty."

Jennifer, you better stop doing such a good job exposing the hypocrites of the left and their double-dealing and double-talking. You might get fired under some pretense! The Post doesn't cotton much to saner voices!

And speaking of Colman McCarthy, there's an interview he gave in February 2008 in which he proposes appeasing Hitler. Here's the money quote:

"Q: Okay, forget the Civil War. What about World War II? There’s a war where there was a horrific genocide occurring, and it was stopped.
A: Hitler could have been waited out. He might have been overthrown by his own government. Who knows? To have 50 million people killed : Hitler would have died within 10 years no matter what he did. That’s an argument you rarely hear."

I guess ol' Colman is OK with the extermination of all of European Jewry while the world waits for Hitler to die sometime in the next decade. Real compassion there.

Then why do you keep pushing deomcracy in Egypt where the results are almost certain to favor radical Islamic elements taking over the government?

Two things that nicely sum up everything you need to know about Colman McCarthy(I used to live in his neighborhood):

1. On Halloween, he handed out VEGETABLES (sometimes whatever limp ones were left from his garden)!

2. In the 90s, the city tried to put a homeless shelter across the street from our elementary school. At the meeting called to organize a protest to this appalling idea, CM (whose kids were long since grown and out of the school) rose to opine that we should welcome the shelter because Jesus would have wanted us to.

"The definitive, noxious example of leftist disdain for the military. And whom does he suppose provides for his physical safety?"

The question is Jennifer whom do YOU suppose provides for your safety?

My guess is that many a registered Democrat has lost their life in the past 10 years so that you can rail against them.

Hypocrisy belongs to both parties in equal amounts but in very different ways.

Democrats are the biggest fiscal hypocrites around, privately profitting from policies they publicly deride. Their dirty little secret is that there are just as many Dem millionaires as GOP ones.

Republicans are the bigget military hypocrites, a party full of people like Jennifer, armchair warrios and desktop generals whose last fight was in grade school and whose last uniform was worn at a Halloween party.

The only difference is that usually the D's type hypocrisy doesn't cost people their lives.

______________

Jennifer made no assertion about the demographics of our military's political affiliations. She implied that there are many leftists who disdain the military. These are not the same concepts, nor are they contradictory.

Actually Henri it's rightists who disdain the military, that is SERVING in the military! Isn't that right Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, George Will, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, Charles Krauthammer, Greta Van Susteren, and so on and so forth.

Thanks for highlighting a Muslim's common sense article (Jasser).

It is also true in Iraq & Afghanistan -- American cannot directly rule there, but can influence who does rule, and maintain an effective veto power against some (terrorists?) who will not be allowed to rule.

Small Swiss size cantons should be the administrative size of most political power in young multi-tribal states.

Actually, Krauthammer would love to serve, just as soon as DOD establishes a wheelchair brigade.
