Bush as Escape Artist

The incredible shrinking presidency of George Walker Bush hit a new milestone yesterday: The commander in chief turned to sorcery.

"You know, if there was a magic wand to wave, I'd be waving it," Bush informed Sheryl Gay Stolberg of the New York Times in a Rose Garden news conference. She had asked him about the recession, which everybody seems to be acknowledging but Bush.

Further, the wizard of the West Wing said he would use his supernatural powers, if he had them, to conjure up lower gas prices. "I think that if there was a magic wand and say, 'Okay, drop price,' I'd do that," said the illusionist.

Abracadabra! Watch the president pull a rabbit out of a hat! See his low ratings vanish before your very eyes!

I seem to remember that Bush did wave his magic wand and gas prices dropped for a couple of months before the 2006 elections in an effort to help Republicans. Prices, of course, went back up again after November.

It is an extremely unusual recession which "everyone" is acknowledging, in which the economy is not retracting but continues to grow (albeit slower). Do you honestly expect a sitting president to acknowledge a recession that by the standard of economic theory does not exist?

What kind of delusion is Senator Clinton bounded by? Is she so obsessed by the ambition of becoming President at all cost or the imaginary invincibility of the power of the "Clinton Dynasty" that even after changing the rules several times to suit her and all but killing Obama with assaults, she cannot accept reality? Is she going to totally divide the Democratic party just so she must win? In my opinion, she is a very dangerous, selfish and unpatriotic woman. Mark my words, she's going to end up in disgrace. This country and the democratic party is greater than any one individual!
