Etch-a-Sketch: Name that giveaway

Dear Sketchreader:

Welcome back after a long hiatus to Etch-a-Sketch, in which you, the reader, write the column for me, the writer.

Today's assignment: Name that giveaway. The Senate health-care bill has been full of goodies handed out to buy/earn the vote of various senators.

There's Mary Landrieu's "Louisiana Purchase" and Ben Nelson's "Cornhusker Kickback." Among the others:

Chris Dodd's $100 million hospital for Connecticut;

Byron Dorgan and Kent Conrad's higher Medicare payments to hospitals and doctors in the "frontier counties" of Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming;

Max Baucus's Medicare coverage for people exposed to asbestos in a vermiculate mine in Libby, Montana;

More Medicare money for "low-volume hospitals" in Tom Harkin's Iowa;

Higher Medicare payments to hospitals in Connecticut and Michigan because of local wage levels;

Bill Nelson's Medicare Advantage grandfather clause for Florida;

Bigger Medicaid payments for Massachusetts and Bernie Sanders's Vermont (in addition to Nelson's Nebraska);

More money for Disproportionate Share Hospitals in Hawaii;

A "carve-out" from the insurance fee for Nebraska and Michigan Blue Cross/ Blue Shield;

A "carve-out" from the insurance fee for Medigap policies sold by Mutual of Omaha and other companies in Nebraska;

Unfortunately I do not see any giveaways for the Senate president pro tempore, because this would obviously be called the "Byrd Feeder."

Have at it. Winning suggestions will be included in tomorrow's column.

American "Democracy" .... or as "it" was formally known?
.... Cordially, Omar ...(average "E" Gyptian spectator).

Well I voted for change too, and what we have is heavier coins in our pockets, and, a George W. Clinton, a Bush style foreign policy controlled by old Bush hands and everything else is controlled by Billy. Just follow the money positions in the cabinet, and Hillary on top at state. Nice shop!

Chris Dodd is a Doddering Old Fool - his white mane of coffiered hair is that of a skunk - with a $100 million hospital for his state.

This bill has a terrible odor of special interests Santa Claus giveaway.

"We've established your profession, Senator (fill in blank). Now all we are doing is negotiating the price."

Nominated for a T-Shirt all Senators could wear at the annual softball game, "Girls, We are Sitting on a Gold Mine!"

How about names for Senators who DID NOT apparently require a bribe, giving up their votes for NOTHING!!! (I believe this applies to Warner and Webb), again another T-Shirt: "My Senator Voted For Health Care Reform, and My State Got Jack Squat Out of It!"

"The Senate: Home of the World's Oldest Profession."

"The Senate: Upscale Bunny Ranch."

Headline for WaPo: "Senate Jumps Over D.C. Government, City Council, and Declares both Male and Female Prostitution Legal!"

The "It Pays to Be Naughty Not Nice Connecticut General Giveaway Hospital."

There are so many giveaways, it's not possible to be suitably pithy while "calling out" each of the disgraceful individuals. Therefore, in homage to the late lamented ideal of universal coverage, I humbly submit "Universal Patronage".

I can see why you wanted help. I can only think of a couple good ones: The Connecticut Check Cut, The Montana Bonanza, The gator baiter. Others: Vermont Font, Vermont Debutante, Vermont L'enfante, Baucus Caucus, Dodd Prod, The Sanders Pander, The Hawkeye Buy, the Hawaii buy spree and the gator giveaway.

Max the Knife Baucus - thanks so much for the knife in our collective backs. Oh and LIEberman, you definitely get an honorable mention.

These jackasses - and that includes you mr. president - have NO idea how much outrage exists within the general populace. When people realize they are going to be FORCED to buy crap "insurance", it's going to boil over.

the "china syndrome"--

which jane fonda immortalized in her movie at the same time as three mile island

a scenario where a nuclear plant melts all the way throught he earth to china

as obama will soon taste the lash from the chinese whip

because the chinese have VETOED obamacare

see, obama has SURRENDERED the economic sovereignty of the united states of america with his drunken deficit "stimulus"

here is the Shanghai Daily explaining capitalism to obama the socialist:

"In a discussion on the global role of the dollar, Zhu told an academic audience that it was inevitable that the dollar would continue to fall in value because Washington continued to issue more Treasuries to finance its deficit spending.

He then addressed where demand for that debt would come from.

"The United States cannot force foreign governments to increase their holdings of Treasuries," Zhu said, according to an audio recording of his remarks. "Double the holdings? It is definitely impossible."

"The US current account deficit is falling as residents' savings increase, so its trade turnover is falling, which means the US is supplying fewer dollars to the rest of the world," he added. "The world does not have so much money to buy more US Treasuries."

China continues to see its foreign exchange reserves grow, albeit at a slower pace than in past years, due to a large trade surplus and inflows of foreign investment. They stood at US$2.3 trillion at the end of September."

TERM LIMITS TERM LIMITS TERM LIMITS. If something doesn't change in this racket they call the u.s. government soon, I look forward to the American People standing up and taking our country back. By ANY means. Jail is too good for the vast majority of these back room crooks.
