Yahoo! Issues Security Update for Messenger

Last week, Security Fix warned Yahoo! Messenger users to be wary of unexpected video chat invites from other Yahoo! instant messenger users, as the blueprints for exploiting security holes in the chat invite function of the program had been posted online. On Tuesday, Yahoo! issued an update to plug that hole.

This latest update, available at this link here, brings the Yahoo! Messenger program to version Users who downloaded the program prior to Aug. 21, 2007, and wish to continue using it should update to this latest version.

Next: Yahoo! Messenger Network Overrun By Bots

While the security flaw and patch for Yahoo! Messenger has received much press, nothing has been noted in the press about the global shut-down of their chat rooms by a "server upgrade" on August 13th. As a consequence of their upgrade, every single chat room in Yahoo! has since filled with bots (programs masquerading as users, generally with the purpose of selling pornography or sexual services), and the entire service rendered useless.

Despite blog posts that they are working as hard as possible to restore service (, nothing has improved in the last ten days.

I used yahoo messenger just this time. And there is this room in the Regional Philippines (room 14) who made himself known to be the owner of the room. And just that I wonder about him. He used this personal attack of instant messages pop ups to my screen until my computer hangs.

What should I do about it? Is there any chance of avoiding it? Is there a security about it?

I strong recommend people to get ytunnelbasic. That will help out alot but there are other things that will help out as well. uncheck idle in yahoo messager in prefences and uncheck enable audibles. Yahoo should work with ytunnelpro owner Chet Simpson.

I have never been much in favour of online shopping. The idea that the ancient physical delight of strolling the marketplace or bazaar and taking in its sights and smells might one day be replaced by clicking and dragging from a desktop is one I have always found more repugnant than convenient. But that was before I found out aboutWhat is Etsy?
