Fed Chief Bernanke: Juice A Regular Guy

Maybe Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke is trying to start a consumer trend to drive down those record-high orange juice prices. And if not, at least Americans can rest easier knowing that the man who manages the world's biggest economy knows his pricing system (unlike a certain former president who didn't know the price of milk).

Bernanke was spotted at the Harris Teeter market in Arlington, Va. - why Arlington, we don't know, since he lives on Capitol Hill - on Sunday afternoon. A Sleuth informant saw the Fed chief schlepping a big old gallon of OJ over to the cart that his wife, Anna, a teacher, was commanding.

Bernanke looked like any other regular grocery shopper, a Sleuth informant says, except for the conspicuous "security dudes" tailing him in the frozen food section and the motorcade waiting outside. The grocery store was "packed," our source says, adding that "lots of people were trying to determine which shopper warranted a security detail."

Knowing that Bernanke is occasionally spotted shooting hoops in the basement of the Federal Reserve building, and now knowing that he's likely getting plenty of Vitamin C and folic acid, our source opined: "He's keeping the body healthy. Let's hope he infuses more of that good energy into our thriving economy!"

(Yes, the source is a Republican!)
