Whoopi Goldberg: Pelosi Admirer Extraordinaire

Sure, politicians always appreciate a warm welcome when they appear on daytime TV talk shows. But the welcome House Speaker Nancy Pelosi got today on ABC's chick TV show "The View" was more than warm - it was downright steamy.

Even before Pelosi walked on stage to take her seat at the round table, the show's moderator, Whoopi Goldberg, and its co-hosts - with former news anchor Barbara Walters leading the pack - started flirting with the speaker's husband, Paul, who was seated in the front row.

"You wanna take a look at Nancy Pelosi's handsome husband?" Walters asked the audience. Yes, came the answer in the form of whooping and hollering.

Poor guy was actually blushing. Then the show's hosts asked him how long he and Madame Speaker have been married.

"Forty-four years," Mr. Pelosi managed between pained glances in the direction of a blanket, a paper bag, anything to hide under.

Whoopi got the pleasure of introducing Speaker Pelosi, who she noted is the first woman speaker of the House who, somewhere along the way, managed to raise five children.

But Walters was still stuck on Mr. Pelosi, unfortunately for Mr. Pelosi. And this is where a little blushing turned to a Code Red alert, four-alarm fire.

Trying to shout over Whoopi and her other gabbing co-hosts and excited audience members, Barbara turned to Guest Pelosi and said she has heard Whoopi say before that she'd "do Paul Newman."

"And I think she'd like to do your husband as well," Walters deadpanned in that quintessential accent that made her the subject of late-night lampooning over the decades.

Of course, Whoopi being Whoopi, she couldn't let that one go, which is where the speaker begins blushing.

Yes, Whoopi implicitly acknowledged, she'd like to do Mr. Pelosi - but she might take his wife while she's at it. "I would do her as well. But we should wait on that because you're still in office, I don't want to cause a problem."

Oh dear, would this were not live TV.

As you might expect, Speaker Pelosi remained silent underneath her signature permanent smile. And her press office later remained predictably mum on the specter of Whoopi-on-Speaker action.

"She enjoyed being on the show," Pelosi spokesman Brendan Daly told us via email. "It was a fun chance to talk to (primarily) women around the country about what Democrats are doing in Congress."

And he said Pelosi enjoyed her little thrust and parry with the show's token conservative host, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who challenged the speaker's opposition to the troop surge in Iraq.

As for what Pelosi thinks of Whoopi's wild crush on her and her hubby, Daly said in an email, "Didn't get to ask her about Whoopi comments..."

Yeah, we didn't expect so.

Whoopi's career is in such a tailspin, what else can she do but make wild-eyed, idiotic comments about sexual conquests? Famous for being on the giving end of a sexual favors to Ted Danson to groping her crotch and making reference to the President, she can't quite crawl from the gutter where she seems to be so at-home.

Even more disgusting proof over where a wordly, hollywood culture is taking us. How I wish for our nation to wake up and see how blackened our soul has become.

Why is Hassellbeck still on that low-life show.

She has enough beauty, brains and class that she could end her contract, pay a couple of breach bucks, and get a gig on a venue where she isn't being constantly smothered by her other worthless LibTurd co-hosts.

I watched a few minutes the other day, and couldn't take the liberal juvinality, and got the impression Elizabeth just keeps her mouth shut now because she doesn't feel it's even worth it to give an honest, grounded conservative opinion.

The View must have the best publicists in the entire known universe. How do they keep getting what appears to be a completely worthless show mentioned on other shows and sites?

Jeez, why is this drivel even on television, and why would a politician ever waste valuable taxpayer dollars time (Speaker of the House is a 24/7 job!) appearing amid such trash?

Barbara Walters should volunteer her brain for the latest Alzheimer's experimental drug study. She hasn't a moment to lose. It is sad to see such a once-respected journalist end up on the skid row side of television.

I'm not a fan of Pelosi and not surprised by Goldberg's actions, but Walters' status as a professional has hit rock bottom. Perhaps Ms Speaker should be taking care of business instead of appearing on this show.

Islamic fundamentalists don't hate America because of George W Bush. They hate America because of celebrities such as Britney Spears, 50-cent, Madonna and Whoopi Goldberg.

In the eyes of religious Muslims, Western culture is the height of decadence. They do not refer to the USA as "the Great Satan" because of our military power, but rather because they find Western popular culture to be a disgraceful affront to nearly every value that they hold sacred.

They see their culture threatened by the West's great pursuit of the false gods of wealth and celebrity status, sexual liberation and hedonism.

The curious paradox is that the Hollywood idiots who rail the loudest against GWB are in fact a large part of the problem. They will also be the first to get beheaded when the Taliban takes over.

Ahhh, I understand - "The View" is a television program for woman to behave like drunken in a nudie bar. I guess behaving in a demeaning fashion towards a member of the opposite sex is one of the benefits of being a "liberal."

Posted by: Nothankyou | October 2, 2007 3:45 PM | Report abuse

Why the silence? It seems the Speaker has plenty to say about "alternate" sex when it comes to our school children.

And this is a program that demographically is geared toward women dealing with women issues. Women why do you continue to support this trash by your viewership. If the decent woemn out there would discontinue discussing and viewing this show-it would surely go off the air. Maybe some conservative womens' groups need to start a boycott of their sponsors and let's see what happens.

Opie and Anthony were suspended from XM for 30 days because a homeless man who appeared on their show made a bad joke about doing things to Condi and Laura Bush. And since that popped up on Drudge, that's when it all hit the fan. But I don't suspect the same thing will happen here. Whoopi and maybe even Barbara's intentions sound sincere here, and they won't miss a day or lose a dime.

I hate this country! If the first thing you thought was, "but it's different"...then you're the different one...and not in a good way. You're the problem.

He's more coherent than Dennis Kucinich, he dresses like their base, he's more macho than John Edwards, and he's willing to show up at a forum where he might get one hostile question -- unlike the current Democratic candidates for president who won't debate on Fox News Channel. He's not married to an impeached president, and the name "Mahmoud Ahmadinejad" is surely no more frightening than "B. Hussein Obama."

These trash talking women seem to have quite a bit of influence on American women. That's too bad.

My Mother would have turned beet-red if anyone would have talked to her like this, and my Dad would have slapped them after they said something like this to my Mother.

Everyone is right about Pelosi not having the morals necessary to be a leader in this great country; but what about her husband, and the MSM which will never broadcast this trash on their nightly newscasts to let the working class people, who are working when this trash occurs on TV, see and hear the vile bile others are listening to while they are working and doing something worth while for the Nation?

Liberals are so out-of-touch with American Values. They are imploding and are doomed for defeat in 2008. The decent people of America are fed up with them.

The ONE-EYED MONSTER (TV) has reared its ugly head again. It seems like all the media today wants to shock. The only problem is that it is not shocking anymore. We have reached bottom. This once great country has turned rotten. It started at the coasts, California, Massachusetts and is working its way in to the core. I weep.

1. You have to believe the AIDS virus is spread by lack of Federal funding.

2. You have to believe that the school system that can't teach a fourth grader how to read is some how the best qualified to teach those same children all about sex.

3. You have to believe that guns, in the hands of law abiding Americans, are more of a threat than U.S. nuclear weapons technology in the hands of Chinese communists.

4. You have to believe there was no art before Federal funding.

5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by cyclical, documented changes in the earth's climate, and more affected by Americans driving SUVs.

6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial, but being homosexual is natural.

7. You have to be against capital punishment but support abortion on demand.

8. You have to believe that business creates oppression and governments create prosperity.

9. You have to believe that hunters don't care about nature, but loony activists from Seattle do.

10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually doing something to earn it.

11. You have to believe that the U.S. Military, not evil and tyrannical regimes, start wars.

12. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.

13. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too high.

14. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, General Robert E. Lee, or Thomas Edison.

15. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial quotas and set-asides are not.

16. You have to believe Hillary Clinton is all about "progress" and not power. She just wants to help us out of the archaic system of governing that we have been subjected to since our founding.

17. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked anywhere it's been tried, is because the right people haven't been in charge. (I've got news for you. It has never worked because the RIGHT people have been in charge.)

18. You have to believe Republicans telling the truth belong in jail, but a cheat, liar and sex offender belongs in the White House and you would vote him back in there in a New York Minute (if you could).

19. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag, transvestites, and bestiality should be constitutionally protected, and manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal.

20. You have to believe that illegal Democrat Party funding by the Chinese is somehow in the best interest of the United States.

21. You have to believe that the vociferous minorities who protest against prayer and saluting the flag in school have far more rights than the majority who believe in God and country, and want these values instilled in our young children.

22. You have to believe in MOB RULE and not RULING THE MOB (The Republican way).

23. You must not listen to Rush Limbaugh or read Matt Drudge.

24 Trade Unions and Trial Lawyers are our strength and power.
25 The Main Stream Media and Hollywood are our propagandists.

26- FEMINISTS and GAYS are the men of our party.

27- The Terri Schiavo case proves we and a two-timing husband have more power than GOD and 2 loving parents.

This is exhibit A for Democrats and their supporters who bellieve "we need everybody's vote so suck it up and don't offend our base" Hollywood is intrenched in their thinking and has become their true religion. These vile and disgusting liberals (leftists) are now in power in the House and the Senate. The Progressive (socialist) Caucus has its members, Conyers, Rangel, et al., in the seats of power. Next year, the Democrat Socialist Party will probably take the White House as well.

My, oh my, how low we have sunk since Ronald Reagan was well on his way to defeating the Soviet Union a mere 20 years ago. The communist left is now unstoppable in this country. With their disciples now in control of the government, media, and academia, our constitutional republic will ultimately crumble and become part of the one-world government that the Clinton's crave.

Just a few years ago, there was a sliver of hope that Republican control of the Federal Government would stem the tide of these socialist monsters and right the USA's ship of state. But, unfortunately, they never controlled, or even influenced, those who pull the strings of public opinion. And, remarkably, even though the Bush Presidency has succeeded in every facet of their administration, the conventional wisdom is that they have failed.

The only solution is for the creators and producers in this country to quit creating and producing. When the day inevitably comes that these socialist pigs gain absolute power in this country, those who are expected to carry the load and pay half and more of their income to the government, must quit. They must stop producing and funding the socialist monster. Only then will these idiot liberals like Whoopi and Hillary and the lot of them see what a pile of crap their ideas are.

A real man would have done such for his lady, to any man OR woman who took such public liberties without shame or respect. Sadly, real men are almost extinct....and equally as sad, as real men dissapear, so will our beloved USA.

Whoopi? She may have all the plumbing of a woman, but that's about it. She's kind of a bio-genetic missfire. The "View" is the new "Love Boat" of the 21st Century. It's where all the Hollywood missfits go to promote whats left of their meaningless careers. God I long for the forties and the fifties, when people truly cared and spoke politly to one another, without haveing to resort to this kind of language and behavior. But I will go to my grave feeling like a stranger in a strange land. This last decade I've lost my country. I no longer have a place to call home. A few years back before an election, on a Sunday A.M. TV show, Cokie Roberts asked Lynn Cheney about her lesbian daughter. Unlike the pig Pelosi, Mrs. Cheney got angry, and said," I can't believe you asked that question, and for the record my family is off limits." That's how dignified people respond, not with a freakin Botox grin, ala Pelosi. As to doing Whoopi, I just might. Proves that when liberal hysteria takes over in the mind, it crowds out thoughtfulness, logic and restraint. When combined with having no understanding of economics, democracy, or dangers that civilization faces by the Jihadists, then there's no hope for most entertainers like Whoopi and newscasters like Walters, to string together coherent sentences. You basically see them rambling, trash-talking, and playing shock-jock.

I was actually in that audiance once. When Star and Meridith was on the show. It had class and civility. It sure has turned into a sleeze circus. They ambushed the Speaker of the House? What the hell were they thinking? Ms Goldberg showed her true colors letting all of America know she is bi sexual. Ms Walters it seems has had one to many Martini's. Their next big guest should be Jerry Springer maybe or Howard Stern if the really want to shake things up. Half the dialog would be bleeped.

This was wrong and inappropriate, I feel sorry for the Speaker.

Who said we had to be part of the global masses that have sunk so low and so far away from what our Founding Fathers lived. Its just like who came up with the idea that every child should be taken out of the home at the magical age of 5 and be taught and formed by strangers? I'll tell you - wealthy elites. You know the Barbra brought up that female point (cl****ous) just the past Monday. She and here panelthought it was funny. So there is precedent for her actions.

Then Ophra had a rather large penis simulator up on stage and spoke about foreskin and a man's pleasure on here Tuesday's show.

This is all about the First Amendment. Let's not follow the gov't down the path of censorship. After all, censorship is becoming America's favorite past-time. The US gov't (and their corporate friends), already detain protesters, ban books like "America Deceived" from Amazon and Wikipedia, shut down Imus, stifle Ron Paul and fire 21-year tenured, BYU physics professor Steven Jones because he proved explosives, thermite in particular, took down the WTC buildings. Free Speech forever (even for Whoopi).

How, in the Sam Hill do you look. You make look great to yourself, but man, to everybody else, you look like a Booga Bear. So keep your stupid, ignorant comments to yourself. When I look at myself in the mirror, I definitely see someone who does NOT take joy in the thought of group sex, and would be ashamed to suggest such a thing to anyone, much less someone in the position as speaker of the house of representatives.

Christ said that before we judge someone for the speck in their eye, we should get the log out of our own eye. I can tell you that there is no log in my eye when it comes to the things that Ms. Goldberg suggested to Speaker Pelosi.

Are these comments stupid and ignorant? The only ignorance I find is on your part in failing to identify evil as it is.

Whoopi and Barbara's comments just prove how far the left has taken us from having respect for the position of an elected official. We don't have to agree with them, but must always respect the position they hold and treat that office holder with respect and dignity. Just by the fact that The View has to stack the co-hosts and the audience in the direction of liberalism should say it all.

If the Pelosi's had any class, they would have gotten up and walked off of the show, just like a prior poster had pointed out. In fact, the Pelosi's, especially "Madam Speaker", would have never gone on it in the first place if they had any dignity.

I really don't care who wants to "do" who and with how many. I just don't want to know or hear about it. And I especially don't want a mental image of the activities.

[26] For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
[27] And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
[28] And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
[29] Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
[30] Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

Wow, that is just disgusting. Such behavior by celebrity is what influences this country and we ask ourselves why our country is hated by many others and why our younger generation is rude, crude and downright messed up. The terrorists don't hate America because they just do, it is because of the appaling abuse of the Freedom of Speech. They hate us because of our ridiculous western culture that spreads and kills our country and the world like a fungal rot of somekind. All the Hollywood celeberities that are all sad about all the people that died in 9/11 and all the terrorist attacks and feel sorry for all the soldiers overseas, it is their fault, at least significant part of it is their fault. American culture is talk show hosts, movie stars, and money. It spreads fast and it is deadly and corrupts the culture of countries and turns them all in to burger scarfing, disgusting clones of white Americans. In my country if a TV host did something like what Whoopi Goldberg did, I assure you that a lynch mob would have outside their house for at least two days. America is bad and its influences should be stopped but the nation itself should not be, just the Hollywood types. America spreads everywhere and personally I think that sucks and I am a patriot don't misunderstand, but the country is falling, either from foreign forces like terrorists or from idiotic Hollywood people. Showing Mr. Pelosi on camera and saying he's good-looking is one thing. What Walters and Whoopi said was way over the line and completely tasteless.

This is the second negative thing I've heard about Whoopi's time on 'The View' since she showed up. Is this going to be a regular occurrance? Whoever does the hiring needs to be replaced. First Rosie, now Whoopi.

Barbara should go on permanent leave as the show is much better when she's not there.

Quite frankly I think everyone is making too big a deal about all this. IT WAS A JOKE! In addition, SEX IS COMPLETELY NATURAL! When will people in this country learn that it is okay to talk about sex? The very fact that this event has made headlines all over the country is evidence that there is something wrong with the way we view sexuality. I mean good grief; none of us would be here if it weren't for sex. I have sex (and, gasp, I enjoy it), we simply gush (and blush) over the sexual exploits of celebrities, why is it such a shock when we suggest that politicians and other leaders are having sex? I say good. I hope that Ms. Pelosi and her husband have sex frequently -- it's healthy! If they are okay with Whoopi joining in, more power to them. These comments have been blown way out of proportion. Our mouth's don't drop open when someone says they would "do" Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie, so why is it inappropriate for Whoopi and Barbara to acknowledge the sexual appeal of Ms. Pelosi and her husband? The answer: it's not. We put politicians up on a pedestal and seem to forget that they are human, and humans have sex. If the comments made Ms. Pelosi and her husband uncomfortable, that is unfortunate, however, maybe they too need to realize that sexuality is human and should not be hidden or denied. If we all had a healthier view on sexual activity perhaps we would not have as big a problem with things like teen pregnancy, STDs, etc. in this country. We should all be as open as Whoopi and Barbara -- go them!

Redaing the garbage from these right -wing "followers" is almost as funny as the show this is about. Lighten up people, it was all in fun,or did you forget how to have harmless fun. I think this just gives you a chance to write some krap about Nancy and the left. Maybe if she suggested they should just kid around in a public bathroom, you guys would've thought it was okay. How many pervs in Congress have been "outed" in the last year or two for what they really are. What party affiliation were they,oh yeah, the FAMILY VALUES party. It was pure harmless joking, why are all of you taking it so seriously? I bet you all laughed when Blackwater killed a bunch of civilians,RIGHT!. Now we know what kind of humor you like, Death and Destruction.
Party of Family Values? That's a better joke than what was said on the View.

Jime and Andrea,
If the two of you have an IQ that totals six, we right wing haters would be amazed. Anything your lefty crowd says or does is o.k. with you, and then it's about right wing haters instead. This was not about "sex" as you claim, but about a sense of decency. (Which, although I am not a Botox Pelosi fan, it was disgusting to listen to a dried up old prune and a bag-woman look alike talk about "doing" her and her husband.)I suppose the two of you progressives would find it perfectly socially acceptable to listen to that garbage at a party referring to you and your husband, or it's o.k. if your children said it also. You people are the ruin of all that is right and wrong, and social standards of behaviour mean nothing to creeps like you. Thanks for reinforcing why middle America would love to see you move to Europe.

Barbara Walters is a class act and every bit a professional. She goofed on this one. All women deserve more respect than was shown to Speaker Pelosi. Of course the speaker was embarrassed.
And Whoopi? She is a comedian but she left her taste at home.

Just read the comment where someone said that the Hollywood people will be the first to be beheaded when Talibans take over USA. First of all, I think USA needs to be smart enough by not fuelling wars globally then the Talibans would not dream of coming to America to take up their beef with Hollywood superstars.

Additionally, Hollywood superstars need to show more responsibility as many people around the world idol worship them. I, for example, live in Dhaka and see a bunch of people really looking upto these stars. Therefore, the Hollywood culture should adopt to global requirements. True, Hollywood culture is unique to US grandeur, but with more global connectivity and reach, Hollywood should also re-invent itself for being acceptable the world across.

Finally, we rather see a muslim in the true light of Islam and not like the Talibans who are actually reducing Islam to a much lower standard.

Even if one ceded your point about Republicans having peas for brains, I would much prefer that to the 99% of Democrats who've had lobotomies.
