Was Young Barry Obama Too Girl Crazy?
Young Barry Obama reportedly was known for three things at the primary school he attended in Jakarta in the 1960s -- his smarts, his popularity ... and being gaga for girls.
He was so "naughty," according to a report by Al Jazeera English, that the other boys on the playground regularly tied Obama to a tree.
What did young Barack Obama, the senator from Illinois and presidential aspirant, do that was so naughty? "He's very much chasing ladies," former classmate Bandung Windardijanto tells the global news network.
Windardijanto shows several photos in which he appears with young Barry, as they called him then. You can see some of the photos in the video below, which we strongly encourage you to watch. And sure enough, in one of the photos, a 9-year-old Obama is surrounded by -- what else? -- girls.
"He chase ladies and then he run away. And then everybody try to catch him up," Windardijanto says. With his thick accent, he says something about Obama getting "smashed" against a bamboo fence
Maybe that's why, many years later, Obama took tae kwon do at the swanky East Bank health club in Chicago. His campaign declined to comment on the senator's tae kwon do, or his alleged schoolboy fascination with girls.

WAS YOUNG BARRY OBAMA TOO GIRL CRAZY?
Come on give me a break. Enough with these sensational titles. Pretty soon the next title will be:
OBAMA MAY HAVE COOTIES, SHOULD YOU VOTE FOR HIM?
Can we get back to REAL journalism and "sleuthing" rather than telling us that Obama was once a kid?

This is such garbage it can't even be considered journalism. More appropriate for the National Enquirer than the Washington Post. Is your next article going to be about how a young Hillary, as a mere tot, pulled up her dress and showed all of the boys her diaper. What 9 year old boy isn's "naughty"?

1. Stop linking everything to the Clintons.
2. Stop trying to link Obama to Islam. How is his name a muslim name any more than John Smith is a Christian name. The man is a Christian if that matters.
3. Who cares that as a 9 year old he teased girls. That is normalbehavior and completely not newsworthy. How is it the reporter says Obama was surrounded by girls? For God's sake they were posing for a photgraph.
Find some news to report and raise the political discourse to issue discussion.

Airing this kind of message is brilliant! Childhood footage, schoolyard hijinks, and favorable global attention in the largest Muslim nation in the world! It doesn't matter that this doesn't really tell you about what kind of president he would be, what his political stance is on this or that, etc. It's about making you feel like Obama is an old childhood friend. Presidential elections don't get won by what stance the candidates have. If that were the case, this election would be Bill Richardson vs. Ron Paul. Presidential elections are popularity contests. Which candidate looks good. Sounds good. Acts good. To call this kind of media coverage dumb is simply stupid.

This report has a very positive contribution. It shows that those who claim that Obama attended a "madrassa" (implying a Muslim religious school) are cynical liars. It is a public primary school, the kids are not separated by gender, are not exclusively Muslim, and Obama was NOT punished by the principal for chasing girls.
As far as this being a "smear job" - give me a break. He was a normal, mischievous boy who chased girls in 3rd grade. Big deal.

I don't know if many of the persons commenting here have ever read the "About this Blog" link under the Sleuth banner, but I highly recommend it.
Ms Akers states in various clever ways that that her column (or blog) is not about serious political reporting or analysis but rather is a place "(to shine) a light on the zanier, more offbeat side of the capital's political theatre"
This is published by the Washington for goodness sake. Like them or not the WP publishes all kinds of writing and opinion about politics from numerous angles and points of view.
If you want to be deadly earnest and sanctimonious about your politics and political actors, there are at least a dozen places on the Post website alone that provide a better forum.
Railing at Akers for not being a "serious" reporter is like ranting that Toles doesn't draw Bush's ears properly.

The most painful aspect of "analyzing" this story is actually being reduced to deciding whether or not it is a satire! "Politics" in 2008 has become akin to "news reporting" in 2008. I.e., whether Hillary's misting up was real or fake has actually become a legitimate determining factor in who will be the next president of the U.S. In the same sorry vein, whether or not Paris Hilton actually read the Bible (can anyone demonstrate beyond a reasonable doubt that Ms. Hilton can, in fact, read?) at sometime during her 48 hours in "prison" is broadcast to America as "news!" My disdain for all of this can be measured accurately through my use of ironic quotation marks. I have no choice -- I can't use words like "news," "prison," "politics" with a straight face anymore. Who can? I weep for the future! (Does my weeping make me a viable presidential candidate??)

Mary Ann Akers, why don't you reveal that the source of the slander of Obama as a muslim originated with Insight.com, and that they claimed the Clinton campaign was behind the smear. Jeffrey Kuhner was the individual who started circulating that idea with the help of Fox News. Also, reveal that Kuhner works for the Washington Times, a Rev. Moon funded paper who has openly contributed millions of dollars through political action committees to fund GHW Bush and GW Bush. That is fact and should allow people to see the facts as to where and potentially why this story has been circulated.

Awesome article called "Shuffling Papers and the Titanic's Deck Chairs" that sheds some light into the democratic race. I found it on www.SAVAGEPOLITICS.com. Here is an excerpt:
"Last night's Nevada Democratic Candidates Debate was a curious mix of boorish self promotion and surprisingly feeble minded rhetoric. In many ways, we have come to expect these types of exchanges between candidates, since every time a politician reverberates their supposed humble backgrounds or re-states their "amazing" achievements, they are in reality adding another stone into most people's political jadedness. After last night's debates; what highlights deserve mention and study?
First we had John Edwards who, even though is ranking third amongst the Democratic candidates (if you believe the latest polls), has the money and motivation to continuously beat his audience with the knowledge that he grew up in a "mill town" and had a "mill worker" for a father. This he dresses up with vibrant proclamations about his "personal" connection to the struggle of middle-class Americans, even though neither mill workers nor himself fall into that category, and rounds it all up with plenty of other assorted promises about his commitment to the Nation. Since by now every candidate knows that the most current political concern in American's thoughts is the economy, he obviously has been gravitating towards arguments which exalt his ability to bring to all people the same American Dream that he personally realized by going to college and becoming a high-profile attorney. And, even though his demeanor was very subtle this time, his aggressiveness in the last debate savagely backfiring on him, his overall performance was not memorable because of his apparent aloofness to the fact that he is the only White male left in the race for his party's nomination. When you then add Edwards' incredibly soft reaction to Hillary Clinton's damaging attack regarding his past senate record, pointing to a controversial backing of a 2002 bill that would have allowed nuclear waste to be shipped to Yucca Mountain in Nevada (one that her husband Bill Clinton vetoed) and a topic of controversy in that state, we can conclude that Edwards seems to have taken his passiveness too far. Although his campaign still hopes to catch up with Obama and Clinton in his home state of South Carolina, his odds are dimming every day and most probably will conclude in utter defeat.
But all the expectations of the night laid on Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama's laps, both of whom were expected to confront each other eagerly on the topics of race and gender, but as expected, ended up "holding hands" and raising each other's praises. Once again we were battered by both of these candidates' ridiculous proposition that discussing race, gender, and past indiscretions are "negative" topics which should be shunned. Watching these politicians act as if these themes were not important in considering political issues, just to not offend the sensibilities of voters, was truly a revolting sight. Of course, both candidates' overall political swaggering was textbook and their policy propositions catered to the general sentiments of any American who feels pessimistic about the state of the country. Would you vote for someone that tells you that all is in perfect shape and that for said reason his election is literally meaningless? Of course things will get better, of course the economy will improve, of course these particular politicians have the solution! How about the ability to actually control this machinery we call a country?..."
