Pelosi Skips Calif. Primary to Work the NASCAR Vote

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has remained neutral in the Democratic presidential primary. So much so that instead of spending Super Tuesday getting out the vote in her state's crucial primary contest or capitalizing off all the press attention -- she stayed in Washington to schmooze with a NASCAR driver.

Pelosi, who voted on an absentee ballot last week (for whom, we know not), hosted two-time defending NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson in her Capitol suite Tuesday afternoon for the ostensible purpose of congratulating him on his recent victory.

The meeting and photo-op is also a great chance for House Democrats to continue making inroads with the "NASCAR Dad" vote. But House Republicans are hoping to cut Democrats off at the pass, especially in light of the little controversy last fall in which a Democratic official suggested staffers should get immunizations for various diseases before heading on a congressional delegation trip to NASCAR Country. Democrats later said the suggestion was made because staffers would be visiting health care facilities -- and had nothing to do with NASCAR.

But the perceived gaffe was a gift to Republicans, who kicked their spin machine into overdrive trying to win political points with the coveted NASCAR constituency. They continued today, with word that Pelosi was meeting with Johnson.

"The Democrats better hope that Nancy Pelosi received her immunization shots before taking the podium with Jimmie Johnson today," says National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Ken Spain, who's known for his love of NASCAR. "She might come down with a case of red-blooded Americanism if she isn't careful."

Not to be outdone, Pelosi spokesman Brendan Daly sounded more than confident that Democrats have the NASCAR vote and then some to sweep the 2008 elections. "With both Democratic candidates' campaigns in high gear, the Speaker looks forward to watching the returns this evening as we move one lap closer to the finish line and a Democratic President."

It's to be expected that purely ignorant
GOP politicos would treat this ignorant act by a mere Democratic staffer with
such eagerness to step all over their
Democratic colleagues. Admittedly, the
Democratic staffer's ill-timed joke regarding the need to be immunized
should a Democratic politico decide to
scmoose with a NASCAR Driver, was in poor taste. To the stubborn and ignorant GOP
members, I say, if someone with the class of House Spekaer Nancy Pelosi has chosen
to mend rifts by meeting with NASCAR Champaion Jimmie Johnson, let her at least do it on her own. Oh, and excuse me, I forgot, to add to the insult to the GOP men, she not only has a heck of a lot of class, but foresight as well. It's more than can be said for certain narrow-minded male chauvenists like Ken Spain.

The Democrat who suggest immunization before going to the NASCAR race was not kidding-it was NOT a joke. Any man who would vote Democratic ought to just put on a dress. Jimmy Johnson should be ashamed.

Posted by: bonnie dudley | February 6, 2008 8:31 AM | Report abuse

Ignorant, talk about arrogant. Democrats apperently think its funny to make chauvenistic jokes regarding the health of a group of sports fans stereotyped as "nascar dads". They should stick to whsat they do best: getting the votes of a few snobs who believe they are better than the rest of the country, wile continueing to lose election after election to republicans who are in touch with the pulse of america.

Jet - you're misinformed. Research this further and you'll realize that the Democratic staffer was indeed serious when suggesting the immunizations.

Posted by: duffy | February 6, 2008 8:51 AM | Report abuse

i am a BIG NASCAR fan.....and let me say that i took great offense at the suggestion that immunizations were needed before mingling with the NASCAR crowd....including shots that are only given if one travels overseas...it was not a joke....which makes the high and mighty demoncrats look like they are scared of the average everyday working man and woman....which of course, totally blows holes in their "we are for the little man" rhetoric.....may god help us all if clinton or obama get elected....heck the same applies for john mccain...who is nothing more than a jacka$$ in an elephant costume.

Beginning in the 2010 NASCAR season, Pelosi has proposed legislation to ensure that all vehicles must get at least 80 MPG, use solar power, and must max out at a speed of 45 miles per hour (30 miles per hour in California).

Where were all the democrats when NASCAR wasn't carried by ABC? It's only recently that they woke up that there are voters at the track instead of a bunch of ignorant rednecks. You haven't got a chance Nancy -- except with the Johnny-come-lately california glory boys like Gordon and Johnson.

Please...as a wife of a NASCAR team member, we all know Pelosi is a tool; we are constantly in the media and recognize a photo op when we see one. We have no respect for the democrats and will always be conservative republicans. We even made fun of that blithering old fool John McCain when he came around trying to suck up and hijack out money for his campaign. We may talk differently, but we are pretty damn smart in the South.

Remember, all, you can't win the nation without winning the South. Elitist Dim-o-craps have thumbed their noses at us. Did you happen to see how split the Dims are last night? Thanks goodness Pelosi hasn't been able to 'affect' people's lives to the degree she would desire. If she had her way, she would RUIN people's lives, telling them how and where they can live, what they can drive, and stealing even more of their incomes to make them totally dependent on her vision of gevernment.

And btw, I would love to do something about it, but I don't currently think its worth the next 20-30 yrs of my time to, as the Sopranos would say - make her go away.

I am 24, independent and live in New Jersey. This is in reference to all of the posts in general and to the elitist post, posted at 11:12am.

I come from a wealthy family and although indepedent I tend to lean slightly to the left. I am so tired of this divisiveness that exists in our country and that is certainly evident in all these posts. I understand why so many "Nascar Voters" don't like Clinton, I don't like her calculated politics either and I certainly don't like the fact that she has lied in the past to cover her husband's tracks, but seriously lets move on from that...

What I do agree with are her policies because they are policies that make an effort to help all not the rich few. Although the post at 11:12 am was obnoxious and rude, whoever the cowardly nameless person is, they make a good point. Republican ideology and policy in general tends to benefit the upper class and only the upper class. The Bush Tax cuts benefited the upper echelons of our society, that is the richest 2%. George Bush provided tax cuts to this upper upper class of our society not to the "Nascar Voter" who is predominantly in the middle class.

I went to an elitist conservative boarding school, Deerfield Academy and a liberal leaning liberal arts undergraduate school, Colorado College. In many of my classes being a history and political science major I learned in both schools how Karl Rove and the Republican machine use social issues such as abortion, gun control, gays etc. to divide this country when the real issues are our economy, the war, and healthcare.

Republican ideology arguably could be the better strategy for the long term (I won't deny that), smaller government, less taxes, financial conservatism and more power to private institutions (none of which has been happening under bush as you all know we went from a surplus to a massive deficit under Bush) but I hate to break it all of you "Nascar voters" but in the short term (and by short term I mean 10-20 years) it will be YOU who gets screwed with a Republican in office. It will be you who gets marginalized.

Democratic ideology, although you may not agree with it socially will benefit you more. Yes taxes will go up for the wealthy 2% but they will go down for the middle class with a number of other incentives to help you get out credit card debt and to help you get out of your mortgage crisis. Stop being fooled by your fellow "old boys club" and start reading the actual policies behind the ideologies of each party. I know socially you and I don't agree but I bet almost everywhere else we do. Lets stop having so much hatred for each other and start seeing the light ahead, we are ONE nation, let's start acting like it.

Hmm.. Those that claim the NASCAR participants only drink Bud and watch TV and do nothing to help the rest of the world but take up space, yeah those ill-informed liberals. They need to take a closer look at just how much the Gordons, and Johnsons, and most others of the NASCAR community take from their own personal wealth to give to sick children and their families as well as tons of other high value, real people type charities.

Do you think Ms. Pelosi actually spends a comparable percentage of her funds for anything that really touches people. I think you need to do some better research.

what part of nascar country were they going to? if it was la, or los vegas, a shot might not be a bad idea. even detroit, chicago and upstate new york is a little scary. i guess new hampshire is safe because no one lives there, it's just a weekend spot for the wall sreet types. as far as miami is concerned, i would't trust going, even with the shots. just stay away. so in summery, if you are planning a trip into nascar land, remember anyplace north of richmond, south of daytona or west of st. louis[grand national] get your shots. lt darro

Posted by: KFED | February 6, 2008 1:00 PM | Report abuse

Joe Robinson,

There is a school of thought that believes that the government has to take care of people and "equalize" society.

The other school of thought believes that the government's only job is to protect citizens from physically harming one another. And that having the government "take care" of people is the path to losing freedom.
This group also believes that freedom and responsibility (and therefore the associated risk) go together. The corollary being that any initiatives to force risk mitigation(through socialized healthcare, forced insurance requirements, government welfare) will lead to a loss of freedom.

Overall "liberals" tend to subscribe to the formaer school of thought. "Conservatives" to the latter.
And the Democrats and Republicans are loosely pattern themselves along these lines.

The "liberal" view is very attractive on the surface but as history and life experience eventually prove - is an illusion. This then leads to the "conservative" viewpoint that is more valid but then comes with the risk of paying for one's decisions and not having someone else provide a safety net.

Personally I believe in personal responsibility. You might choose a different viewpoint. But that is the crux.

In my opinion the GOP got hammered in 2006 not so much because of the war but for having abandoned conservative principles.

Joe Robinson,

And now let me address tax cuts.

This is the thought process...
Taxes are a disincentive to productivity.
Therefore reducing taxes will help the economy.

The reason the wealthy "benefited" from the taxes is that they pay a ridiculously disproportionate amount of taxes to begin with (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taxation_in_the_United_States#Tax_distribution). Hence a tax cut will "benefit" the rich. This is like saying Joe you you pay the government $40 every year on the $100 you make and Schmo pays the government $4 on the $30 they make. With a 10 percent tax cut. Joe you now get to pay $4 less while Schmo pays $0.40 less.
Then Schmo comes around and argues that the rich got a better tax break because Schmo just pays $0.40 less whereas Joe pays $4 less. Whiling forgetting the fact that Joe still pays $36 and Schmo only pays $3.60.

Is the GOP as pure as snow - no!
But the "tax cuts for the rich and privileged" is a disingenuous argument.

Are you a Democrat, Republican or Southerner?
Here is a little test that will help you decide.
The answer can be found by posing the following
question:

You're walking down a deserted street with your
wife and two small children.
Suddenly, an Islamic Terrorist with a huge knife
Comes around the corner, locks eyes with you,
screams obscenities, praises Allah, raises the knife,
and charges at you.
You are carrying a Glock cal 40, and you are an expert shot.
You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do?

................................................................

Democrat's Answer:

Well, that's not enough information to answer the question!
Does the man look poor! Or oppressed?
Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack?
Could we run away?
What does my wife think?
What about the kids?
What does the law say about this situation?
Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway,
and what kind of message does
this send to society and to my children?
Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be
content just to wound me?
Should I call 9-1-1 ?
Why is this street so deserted?
We need to raise taxes, have paint and weed day
and make this happier, healthier street that would
discourage such behavior.

Joe Robinson said: "Republican ideology and policy in general tends to benefit the upper class and only the upper class. The Bush Tax cuts benefited the upper echelons of our society, that is the richest 2%. George Bush provided tax cuts to this upper upper class of our society not to the "Nascar Voter" who is predominantly in the middle class. "

Actually, the US constitution specifically says everyone should be treated equally. How does that square with your thought that "rich" people should be taxed more? Oh, sorry, to bring up the Constitution. You so easily ignore.

However, the real issue and logical fallacy of the left is that the left believes that the "rich" are always the same people and that the "rich" somehow meet in secret with the republican leadership to plot how to "screw" the "poor".

So let's have a little economic lesson here. If you take $50k from a "rich" person, who does that affect? Well, the "rich" person won't remodel his house, or won't buy a new car, or won't hire a gardener. Is the "rich" person harmed? No, but the builder and car salesman and gardener are. Or the "rich" person simply raises the prices in the business that he owns, which then affects everyone who buys the products he/she produces.

So you see, raising taxes on the "rich" to pay for social programs actually hurts the economy, which the democrats think is SOOOOOO broken, that Hillary wants to bring it into "balance" with government regulation (translated: more government control and taxes).

Democrats just don't get it. Marxist socio-economic theory is a failure. But you believe it will eventually work, if we just keep the "dumb" NASCAR people in line.

Elitist pigs.

Hey! Pelosi! Leave NASCAR alone! The sport has neither Democrat or Republican or any other political affiliation. It's AMERICAN! A word for NASCAR and it's drivers - Don't take sides.....it'll kill the sport (at least for me). What are we gonna see next?...donkey and elephant stickers alongside of Pennzoil and Goodyear? Ron Paul yelling "Gentlemen - Start....?" DW welcoming viewers to the Drudge Report-GOP 500 here at Talladega?? These politicos - all of 'em - need to stay away and leave us NASCAR fans, drivers, and teams alone! And BOO on any driver who allows him (or her self) to be suckered in.

You blind demokrat idiots are still not very smart when it comes to who pays their "fair share".
Take a look at this link and tell me if you think this is fair. If you do your political philosphy comes right out of the Communist Manifesto.
http://networdblog.blogspot.com/2007/10/quite-taxing.html

The rich pay way more than their fair share, and who the hell are you dumb liberals to decide what is a "fair share", it is not the governements money, these people earn this money and quit talking like it is the governments. The real problem with DC is not tax rates, it is out of control goverment spending perpetrated on the American people by demokrats and republicans. If you do not see that as a problem, you are really stupid.

Demokrat, Republikan- it makes no difference in today's Amerika. See the 45 goals of Communism (by Cleon Skousen) of Jan. 10, 1963 from the Congressional Record--Appendix, pp. A34-A35.

There simply are 2 types of people that matter: Saved and unsaved.

One flies, the other burns.

Bush tax cuts for the rich:

- 86% of all Federal income taxes are paid by the top 25% of wage earners.

That's UP from 84% in 2000 when Bush took office.

- The top 1% of wage earners pay 39% of all Federal income taxes.

That's UP from 37% in 2000 when Bush took office.

Tax cuts for the rich.

I love my Country, but I fear my Government.
Here's some food for thought:
THE ANT AND THE GRASSHOPPER - CLASSIC VERSION
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long,
Building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks he's a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.
Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.
MODERN VERSION
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house
and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks he's a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.
Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.
CBS, NBC and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.
America is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can it be that, in a country
of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?
Then a representative of the NAAGB (National Association of Green Bugs)
shows up on Nightline and charges the ant with "green bias", and makes
the case that the grasshopper is the victim of 30 million years of greenism.
Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper, and everybody cries
when he sings "It's Not Easy Being Green." Bill and Hillary Clinton make a special guest appearance on the MSNBC to tell a concerned Chris Mathews that they will do everything they can for the grasshopper
who has been denied the prosperity he deserves by those who benefited
unfairly during the Reagan summers, or as Bill refers to it, the "Temperatures
of the 80's."
Jessie Jackson exclaims in an interview with Wolfe Blitzer that
The ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and calls for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his "fair share."
Finally, the EEOC drafts the "Economic Equity and Anti-Greenism Act".
Retroactive to the beginning of the summer, the ant is fined for failing to
hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to
pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the government.
Hillary gets her old law firm to represent the grasshopper in a
defamation suit against the ant, and the case is tried before a panel of
federal judges that Bill appointed from a list of single-parent welfare
moms who can only hear cases on Thursday's between 1:30 and 3pm when
there are no talk shows scheduled.
The ant loses the case. The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he's in, which just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around him since he doesn't know how to maintain it. The ant has disappeared in the snow. And on the TV, which the grasshopper bought by selling most of the ant's food, they are showing Hillary Clinton standing before a wildly applauding group of Democrats announcing that a new era of "fairness" has dawned in America.

When the excrement makes contact with the oscillating air mover, will you be ready?

Lock and Load.

I find it of some interest to read the posts from both sides of the aisle. Liberals and Conservative.....Democrat and Republican...... the sheer vitriol from both sides is a very large reason why I have shifted from both parties.

Personally, I am of a conservative viewpoint in that I actually believe the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were necessary. I disagree with the forced redistribution of wealth. I disagree with those who seek to change the basic amendments of the Constitution of the United States. And I believe that much of what the government is involved in is actually none of their business.

As I find Proudliberal rather amusing.....I thought I'd throw my quarter into the ring and answer a couple of things.....since they actually apply to all of us Americans....not just one individual.

It is rather hard to get my marching orders from Fox-news; television lost it's luster for me back when Mr. Clinton was lying under oath. After watching the various networks try to make that a "no big deal" I was pretty much done with watching. What clinched the matter for me was hearing day after day; about another released rapist, robber, gang-member, and/or murderer committing additional crimes at the cost of shattering someone elses life entirely. I tired of it and relegated the use of the television for the occasional NASCAR race or movie.

As for voting for President Bush; yes I did, both times. Not because of being brainwashed, or from falling for the supposed lies. But, because we needed then (and now) a leader who was willing to actually do something about the situation and not just sweep it under the rug. Was the intelligence incorrect? Yep, sure was.....and it in no way affects the need for what was done. Has he failed on other things....to me, yes; very much so. And since most seem to have forgotten; he cannot and is not running for re-election so he is basically a non-topic anymore.

Gasoline prices are rather painful. 3 + dollars a gallon takes a pretty large chunk out of my pocket.....as does heating oil. Between the two, I'll likely barely make it to spring. So I'd have to say no.....I don't enjoy the prices. So much for the war being about oil, eh? But then, we could rectify some of the problem by expanding off-shore drilling and opening up ANWAR......but, that is not likely to happen.

The country's debt, unfortunately belongs to both sides of the political aisle. Both have continuously spent funds that were never there. Both sides have wasted billions upon billions; which over the years has made out debt very high indeed. And who owns that debt? Quite a bit of it is held by countries unfriendly to us. A bad situation all around that noone seems willing to fix.

Don't believe one optimistic word from any public figure about the economy or humanity in general. They are all part of the problem. Its like a game of Monopoly. In America, the richest 1% now hold 1/2 OF ALL UNITED STATES WEALTH. Unlike 'lesser' estimates, this includes all stocks, bonds, cash, and material assets held by America's richest 1%. Even that filthy pig Oprah acknowledged that it was at about 50% in 2006. Naturally, she put her own 'humanitarian' spin on it. Calling attention to her own 'good will'. WHAT A DISGUSTING HYPOCRITE SLOB. THE RICHEST 1% HAVE LITERALLY MADE WORLD PROSPERITY ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE. Don't fall for any of their 'humanitarian' CRAP. ITS A SHAM. THESE PEOPLE ARE CAUSING THE SAME PROBLEMS THEY PRETEND TO CARE ABOUT. Ask any professor of economics. Money does not grow on trees. The government can't just print up more on a whim. At any given time, there is a relative limit to the wealth within ANY economy of ANY size. So when too much wealth accumulates at the top, the middle class slip further into debt and the lower class further into poverty. A similar rule applies worldwide. The world's richest 1% now own over 40% of ALL WORLD WEALTH. This is EVEN AFTER you account for all of this 'good will' 'humanitarian' BS from celebrities and executives. ITS A SHAM. As they get richer and richer, less wealth is left circulating beneath them. This is the single greatest underlying cause for the current US recession. The middle class can no longer afford to sustain their share of the economy. Their wealth has been gradually transfered to the richest 1%. One way or another, we suffer because of their incredible greed. We are talking about TRILLIONS of dollars which have been transfered FROM US TO THEM. All over a period of about 27 years. Thats Reaganomics for you. The wealth does not 'trickle down' as we were told it would. It just accumulates at the top. Shrinking the middle class and expanding the lower class. Causing a domino effect of socio-economic problems. But the rich will never stop. They just keep getting richer. Leaving even less of the pie for the other 99% of us to share. At the same time, they throw back a few tax deductible crumbs and call themselves 'humanitarians'. Cashing in on the PR and getting even richer the following year. IT CAN'T WORK THIS WAY. Their bogus efforts to make the world a better place can not possibly succeed. Any 'humanitarian' progress made in one area will be lost in another. EVERY SINGLE TIME. IT ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT WORK THIS WAY. This is going to end just like a game of Monopoly. The current US recession will drag on for years and lead into the worst US depression of all time. The richest 1% will live like royalty while the rest of us fight over jobs, food, and gasoline. So don't fall for any of this PR CRAP from Hollywood, Pro Sports, and Wall Street PIGS. ITS A SHAM. Remember: They are filthy rich EVEN AFTER their tax deductible contributions. Greedy pigs. Now, we are headed for the worst economic and cultural crisis of all time. Crime, poverty, and suicide will skyrocket. SEND A "THANK YOU" NOTE TO YOUR FAVORITE MILLIONAIRE. ITS THEIR FAULT. I'm not discounting other factors like China, sub-prime, or gas prices. But all of those factors combined still pale in comparison to that HUGE transfer of wealth to the rich. Anyway, those other factors are all related and further aggrivated because of GREED. If it weren't for the OBSCENE distribution of wealth within our country, there never would have been such a market for sub-prime to begin with. Which by the way, was another trick whipped up by greedy bankers and executives. IT MAKES THEM RICHER. The credit industry has been ENDORSED by people like Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGenerous, Dr Phil, and many other celebrities. IT MAKES THEM RICHER. Now, there are commercial ties between nearly every industry and every public figure. IT MAKES THEM RICHER. So don't fall for their 'good will' BS. ITS A LIE. If you fall for it, then you're a fool. If you see any real difference between the moral character of a celebrity, politician, attorney, or executive, then you're a fool. No offense fellow citizens. But we have been mislead by nearly every public figure. WAKE UP PEOPLE. THEIR GOAL IS TO WIN THE GAME. The 1% club will always say or do whatever it takes to get as rich as possible. Without the slightest regard for anything or anyone but themselves. Reaganomics. Their idea. Loans from China. Their idea. NAFTA. Their idea. Outsourcing. Their idea. Sub-prime. Their idea. High energy prices. Their idea. Obscene health care charges. Their idea. The commercial lobbyist. Their idea. The multi-million dollar lawsuit. Their idea. The multi-million dollar endorsement deal. Their idea. $200 cell phone bills. Their idea. $200 basketball shoes. Their idea. $30 late fees. Their idea. $30 NSF fees. Their idea. $20 DVDs. Their idea. Subliminal advertising. Their idea. Brainwash plots on TV. Their idea. Vioxx, and Celebrex. Their idea. The MASSIVE campaign to turn every American into a brainwashed, credit card, pharmaceutical, love-sick, celebrity junkie. Their idea. All of the above shrink the middle class, concentrate the world's wealth and resources, create a dominoe effect of socio-economic problems, and wreak havok on society. All of which have been CREATED AND ENDORSED by celebrities, athletes, executives, entrepreneurs, attorneys, and politicians. IT MAKES THEM RICHER. So don't fall for any of their 'good will' 'humanitarian' BS. ITS A SHAM. NOTHING BUT TAX DEDUCTIBLE PR CRAP. In many cases, the 'charitable' contribution is almost entirely offset. Not to mention the opportunity to plug their name, image, product, and 'good will' all at once. IT MAKES THEM RICHER. These filthy pigs even have the nerve to throw a fit and spin up a misleading defense with regard to 'federal tax revenue'. ITS A SHAM. THEY SCREWED UP THE EQUATION TO BEGIN WITH. If the middle and lower classes had a greater share of the pie, they could easily cover a greater share of the federal tax revenue. They are held down in many ways because of greed. Wages remain stagnant for millions because the executives, celebrities, athletes, attorneys, and entrepreneurs, are paid millions. They over-sell, over-charge, under-pay, outsource, cut jobs, and benefits to increase their bottom line. As their profits rise, so do the stock values. Which are owned primarily by the richest 5%. As more United States wealth rises to the top, the middle and lower classes inevitably suffer. This reduces the potential tax reveue drawn from those brackets. At the same time, it wreaks havok on middle and lower class communities and increases the need for financial aid. Not to mention the spike in crime because of it. There is a dominoe effect to consider. IT CAN'T WORK THIS WAY. But our leaders refuse to acknowledge this. Instead they come up with one trick after another to milk the system and screw the majority. These decisions are heavily influensed by the 1% club. Every year, billions of federal tax dollars are diverted behind the scenes back to the rich and their respective industries. Loans from China have been necessary to compensate in part, for the red ink and multi-trillion dollar transfer of wealth to the rich. At the same time, the feds have been pushing more financial burden onto the states who push them lower onto the cities. Again, the hardship is felt more by the majority and less by the 1% club. The rich prefer to live in exclusive areas or upper class communities. They get the best of everything. Reliable city services, new schools, freshly paved roads, upscale parks, ect. The middle and lower class communities get little or nothing without a local tax increase. Which, they usually can't afford. So the red ink flows followed by service cuts and lay-offs. All because of the OBSCENE distribution of bottom line wealth in this country. So when people forgive the rich for their incredible greed and then praise them for paying a greater share of the FEDERAL income taxes, its like nails on a chalk board. I can not accept any theory that our economy would suffer in any way with a more reasonable distribution of wealth. Afterall, it was more reasonable 30 years ago. Before Reaganomics came along. Before GREED became such an epidemic. Before we had an army of over-paid executives, bankers, celebrities, athletes, attorneys, doctors, investors, entrepreneurs, developers, and sold-out politicians to kiss their asses. As a nation, we were in much better shape. Strong middle class, free and clear assets, lower crime rate, more widespread prosperity, stable job market, lower deficit, ect. Our economy as a whole was much more stable and prosperous for the majority. WITHOUT LOANS FROM CHINA. Now, we have a more obscene distribution of bottom line wealth than ever before. We have a sold-out government, crumbling infrastructure, energy crisis, home forclosure epidemic, 13 figure national deficit, and 12 figure annual shortfall. The cost of living is higher than ever before. Most people can't even afford basic health care. ALL BECAUSE OF GREED. I really don't blame the 2nd -5th percentiles in general. No economy could ever function without some reasonable scale of personal wealth and income. But it can't be allowed to run wild like a mad dog. ALBERT EINSTEIN TRIED TO MAKE PEOPLE UNDERSTAND. UNBRIDLED CAPITALISM ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT WORK. TOP HEAVY ECONOMIES ALWAYS COLLAPSE. Bottom line: The richest 1% will soon tank the largest economy in the world. It will be like nothing we've ever seen before. The American dream will be shattered. and thats just the beginning. Greed will eventually tank every major economy in the world. Causing millions to suffer and die. Oprah, Angelina, Brad, Bono, and Bill are not part of the solution. They are part of the problem. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A MULTI-MILLIONAIRE HUMANITARIAN. EXTREME WEALTH MAKES WORLD PROSPERITY ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE. WITHOUT WORLD PROSPERITY, THERE WILL NEVER BE WORLD PEACE OR ANYTHING EVEN CLOSE. GREED KILLS. IT WILL BE OUR DOWNFALL. Of course, the rich will throw a fit and call me a madman.. Of course, they will jump to small minded conclusions about 'jealousy', 'envy', or 'socialism'. Of course, their ignorant fans will do the same. You have to expect that. But I speak the truth. If you don't believe me, then copy this entry and run it by any professor of economics or socio-economics. Then tell a friend. Call the local radio station. Re-post this entry or put it in your own words. Be one of the first to predict the worst economic and cultural crisis of all time and explain its cause. WE ARE IN BIG TROUBLE.
