Gov. Palin Makes Lad Mag's Hottest List

So what if she's getting excoriated for her I-can-see-Russia foreign policy creds? At least Sarah Palin has other things going for her. Just ask the occasionally raunchy lad mag Maxim.

Maxim has published a "World's Hottest Politicians" list, in which the Alaska governor and GOP vice presidential nominee -- known in her home state as "hottest governor" -- ranks No. 2.

Palin is just behind Italy's Mara Carfagna, a member of the Chamber of Deputies, and a darling of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.

Maxim writes of their second hottest politician: "After being crowned Miss Wasilla in 1984, Sarah Barracuda snatched up the mayoral seat 12 years later, garnering a groundswell of 616 votes. Looking to shake up his presidential campaign (and [cough, cough] lure away Hillary supporters [cough, cough]), McCain picked as his running mate the only person keeping our 49th state from being annexed by the Russians. (Sorry, Alaska, you can´t hide hotties like her up there without some needling.)"

So if the lads who "read" Maxim vote in droves on Election Day, and assuming they vote based on who's hottest in the presidential contest (and who doesn't?), then the Palin-McCain - er, McCain-Palin - ticket has got to be a shoo-in.

Incidentally, Reps. Mary Bono (R-Calif.) and Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (D-S.D.) are ranked seventh and ninth, respectively, on Maxim's hotties list.

???? what a dumb article!!!

Posted by: Anonymous | September 27, 2008 1:50 AM | Report abuse

Most of you are off-topic !!
There are far more important issues than this debate.

First:
Japan government has officially denounced the American 9/11 version.

Second:
The Patriot Act has been put together to control and suppress Americans and not the terrorists.

Third:
Those that were selling AIR will now be paid with AIR.
Which means the common American threatened with foreclosure and joblessness
will revolt and take back what is lawfully his.

Fourth:
The culprits of the financial crisis are the leading people of the institutes
that provided mortgages at too high costs.
All possessions and properties of these persons and
those that supported them must be sold to salvage the pain of the common American.

Fifth:
The war in Iraq is mend to make the rich more richer,
with forced oil concessions, over the bodies of the common American and the people of Iraq.

Any other debate then these 5 points is just bullsh_it.
So impeach and rip this government and the rich and super rich that support this scu_m.
And do it now.
Rearrange the wealth captured over the common American and all will go well. And finally,
get rid of the patriot act and restore democracy, justice and decency in America.

Senator O won the debate. Here's why
John Mccain lied as usual. He has a lot
of nerve to tell us how much he loves the
troops, but voted against every and anything that would help to make their lives better. He has no integertiy which
is one of the main ingredients that a Prez should have He has poor judgement he
picked Sarah Palin. He runs in the heat
of battle. He ran back to Washington on the
pretense he was needed No he could not find
out what Senator O's plan was so he ran to
Bush looking for help only that was like
to dumb ships sailing into the night. He
had to be embrassed to keep his word and debate. He is a loser

I'll check in on this one also.
I'm not a sexist, but this one is Toooooo
Obvious.

If Mrs Palin is qualified or not is still just an opinion. I'm not a voter anyway.
I gave that up in Florida 2000AD
However, she still looks like ArmCandy
standing next to Senator McCain, and if I was a voter I wouldn't vote for her for that reason. Playboy models that look like your bosses secretary went out in the 19whenevers.
Still I would have voted for Mrs Clinton,
but decided not to get involved invoting again for any number of reasons besides the Florida debacle as already mentioned.
Tbe reasons were,

a)In my opinion she is qualified
b)She's also hot
c)She's still a hot commodity
d)She's got a qualified Husband (whether he'd make a First Gentleman or First Man)

and besides any VicePresident that introduces herself as
"Hi I'm Sarah Palin I may be blond but I'm not dumb" has got to be nothing more then Humor Personified.

So enough segued.

And as President or Vice President a Woman's place is like a Man's, "Anywhere she wants it to be".

It is a Free Country afterall.
And That's My Own Take On It For Today.

Thanks Ms Akers.
Keep up the Good Work.

Why is the Washington Post (in fairness ,most news outlets) ignoring Joe Biden. I think the voter expects fair coverage of both V.P. candidates. You are critical of Sarah Palin not allowing questions (and rightly so) and yet you give her all the media coverage. Joe Biden has made himself totally accessible and yet you show little to no coverage of his events and interviews?? Is the lesson to be learned here that if you ignore the media you will get rewarded with undue coverage? Dont assume all voters outside Washington are familiar with Biden...they arent & it is very presumptious of you to think otherwise.Im sure they would appreciate knwoing more so they can make informed decisions. In general, you have provided extremely good coverage but this is a glaring deficiency!! I hope others will make note of it to the media as well!! Thanks!!

Governor Sarah Palin has more qualifications than the "Community Organizer" Barack Obama. Yes, it is that Obama. The One that thinks he is ready to be President because it is the next office up to continue his "running for office" career.

Posted by: NO Experience Necessary | September 27, 2008 5:43 PM | Report abuse

Obama's astronomical rise in US politics reflects how democracy works in this land of the free.
His election could yet heal the international wounds made by past US presidents in regards to their interference in the affairs of non-white and non-christian nations.
Sarah Palin is nothing but an ultra-right" fanatic in skirt and lipstick.
Your article did well in picturing what she really is.
MacCain is a fake Vietnam war hero. It is a wonder how the US media had failed to dig deeper into his war and flight records to let out the truth that he was treated fairly well when he was a POW in a war that the US had no business entering into.
MaCains only qualification is that he is a descendant of people in the corridor of power.

Here is what I notice about politicians. They have learned their rhetoric well. Palin does not know her rhetoric well yet and that is what everybody is noticing. She didn't need it in Alaska, but in D.C. she needs to sound like she knows something about everything. The truth is we now know that NOBODY in Washington apparently knew a darn thing about bad loans, sky-rocketing housing prices, and that corrupt organization that Frank and Dodd keeping pushing called ACORN. It also seems equally clear to me that NOBODY in Washington knows a darn thing about foreign policy and that would include Biden that insisted forever that Iraq should be sectioned off into 3 pieces even though that country did not think it was any of his business. Did anybody see 911 coming? Did anybody know that Libya had a much more advanced nuclear program? Does anybody know exactly how to handle N. Korea? What about that sly and arrogant Putin? Anybody? So all the smarties with their Harvard degrees and all that experience seem to be about as useful as the pretty gal from Alaska. Tell me if all that smarts and experience in Washington has done any of us any good.

Palin is repulsive. Standards for "hotness" have really fallen off (though I'd fight UFC cage matches just for an opportunity to be publicly humiliated by Mara Carfagna on live TV.)

She looks Trailer from front to back. I don't know why everyone was all over her fashion sense during the RNC, either. It was 320% JC Penny professional casual and 10% 'diss'.

And the Manface™ is a turnoff. She looks like a male superhero in drag, up close. Cheek bones SET for interplanetary combat against the Legion Of Doom. When she stonefaces Galactus he backs up.

Watch. If somehow God decides November is the month to turn Satan loose, and Satan decides he needs Republicans on the Hill for another 8 years so that he can properly usher in a new world order in which maps depict Russia as across the street from Wasilla, Alaska, I give America 3 years.

That's 3 years before the Invid Masters arrive in the SDF-1, the containment field on Monster Island fails and the world is calling on Palin to save the day.

With her unstoppable chin.

There are many people who say Gov. Sara Palin talks just the way they do. I believe this is a strong indication that drastic improvements need to be made in the USA's educational system. If we are turning out students by the score who display her level of knowledge, than then USA is going to fall further and further behind the rest of the world in science and technological advancements, and we can look forward to more leaders like Sarah Palin, as our country sinks even further into mediocrity and finally decrepitude.

I am so utterly disgusted with all of this crap. For 8 years now women have been dragged back into the cave by this Neanderthalian outlook that the only thing that matters is how 'hot' a woman is.

So now we have kindergarteners, for God's sake, suffering anorexia, the suicide rate among teen girls has gone up 70% in the past two years and I know girls who cannot stand being at their middle school because the boys act like such rutting, knuckledragging dogs that it is ruining their school experience. Thanks Maxim - for setting such a fine example for the boys.

One suicide note I read from an 8th grader who hung herself gave as the reason that "I'll never be 'all that'." All what? All photoshopped and surgically tranformed into impossible acceptability?

All the media bullsh*t and hype is doing is teaching our young women that unless they are of 'Girls Gone Wild' type that they will never make anything of themselves in the world.

Crap magazines like Maxim and horrendous articles like this one only impress the notion that obviously S Palin got where she is because she is 'cute' and renders bereft of hope that so many normal, lovely young women are suffering (and dying from) today.

I'll be so glad when Republicans have to shut up. Seriously. I get tired of hearing them regurgitate arguments they heard on their favourite talk show, spouting biggotry and hypocrisy and demanding that everyone around them defend their positions with "facts".

And the term "liberal". what IS that?!? I've been called a "liberal" and I'm at a complete loss as to what the fark it means to the average argumentative racist with his head up his arse.

lib·er·al [lib-er-uhl, lib-ruhl] –adjective

1. favorable to progress or reform, as in political or religious affairs.

(Progress. Yes, I likes, thanks.)

2. (often initial capital letter) noting or pertaining to a political party advocating measures of progressive political reform.

(Okay. Carry on.)

3. of, pertaining to, based on, or advocating liberalism.

(Granted.)

4. favorable to or in accord with concepts of maximum individual freedom possible, esp. as guaranteed by law and secured by governmental protection of civil liberties.

(That's me!)

5. favoring or permitting freedom of action, esp. with respect to matters of personal belief or expression: a liberal policy toward dissident artists and writers.

(Hey! That's me AND the 'Founding Fathers'!)

6. of or pertaining to representational forms of government rather than aristocracies and monarchies.

(Hey!! That's American government!)

Guilty as charged!

Why didnt this woman consider her family? She's got a special needs child for chrissakes! Isn't that her first priority?

Look at the charade had to be put through already (the fake Bristol-baby daddy arrangment at the RNC.)

Forget about her motherly responsibilities for a second..Palin is simply not qualified to be VP, much less president should McReckless pass on to the other side.

It is really sad and pathetic that McReckless and Palin believes you can go from being a small town mayor and a tiny state governor to a VP candidate. The city of Los Angeles is 8 times bigger the entire state of Alaska for crying out loud.

I would like to address all posters: I have now heard Evangelicals saying that Sarah Palin was prepared by God for this role and from a recent post that Obama was picked by God. Folks, regardless of your religion let me make one point very clear here GOD IS NOT INTO POLITICS AND HAS NOTHING WHATSOEVER TO DO WITH GOVERNMENT! You want proof? OK you can find it in the Holy Bible and in all versions: Mark 12:17 And Jesus answered and said to them "Render, therefore, to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's" Now your ministers have told you this means to pay your taxes, vote in elections and to respect laws, etc., but in a much larger sense Jesus clearly meant that we are NOT to mix religion with government. This passage represents a clear separation of religion and government and violation of this is, therefore against God wishes. So, friends let's cut out all of this God has prepared her or God has pick him and so on. GOD IS NOT INTO POLITICS SO STOP WITH ALL OF THIS NONSENSE! Hitler and the Germans though God was on their side too and so did the Japanese! Just how long will it take for you understand this point. Stop insulting God and make your case without reference to divine intervention! Whoever wins on November 4 will do so because he was able to convince American voters that he was the right man for the job. None of your posts will convince the other side to vote for their man so why don't you find something more constructive to do?

Posted by: LEE | September 28, 2008 2:37 AM | Report abuse

Women who insist anyone who finds a woman running for office unqualified for the position is mysogenist are, in fact, sexist.

To women: While your gender does not disqualify you from office, your gender does not qualify you for office, either.

Sorry.

Nor does America owe you a "First Female President".

If you're going to be president it would be nice- and voters really like this- if you didn't LIE the way Hillary Clinton was so wont to do throughout her campaign. (I was under hostile fire in Bosnia? Oh, no I wasn't. Forgot. Sorry.)

You should also try not to have a scandalous husband run a secondary campaign FOR you the way Bill Clinton did.

This might give voters the distinct notion that a vote for you might actually translate into a 3rd term for a discredited ex-president.

You could, maybe, not credit yourself with presidential "experience" based on your time in the White House with a man who smoked cigars in interns' butts??

That might make voters a little more secure. That's a good one right there. I'll write that down. *scribble*

You might also like to avoid being an absolute freaking moron, like, say, Sarah Palin, for instance. She who claims her home state's proximity to Russia grants her default diplomatic "experience". (Yeah, we run "trade missions" all the time.) WTF???

So can it. Men don't hate women everytime they fail to elect one president, there isn't a glass ceiling every time you fail to make 6 figures doing a 5 figure job and men aren't knuckle-dragging pigs everytime they make you frown.

OK a good laugh is always appreciated, you are joking here right? It would be a shame that anyone that has graduated oh I don't know, say high school would think this let alone say it.

""Some people of no responsiilities don't understand serious. truthful leaders and are poorly informed.""

I couldn't agree more, I suppose that is the reason why when I took the time to look at the records and performances of all four, I did a serious, you have to be kidding on the McCain Palin ticket.

Perhaps what says it the best on just how scary it is, to see white supremcy groups rally behind this ticket, worse yet is the see this ticket. Middle America? Where?

The guy who worked is way up? Or the guy that was handed the top and worked his way down?

Just what are your standards for middle America? Average?

When you look at the facts and yes they are out there with a little bit of effort even the most timid computer user can find them, you will find that the only sane answer is someone who demands more for the people and from the people, someone who can get large groups of strangers to rally behind with a cry of yes we can, (and if anyone has forgotten - that cry was to building a better America not just for todays Americans but also the children yet to come.)

drill baby drill, hmmm yea that will take us places.

Sarah Palin will make a great President. She has common sense, a salt-of-the-Earth nature and loves America and those are things that can't be learned.

On the other hand, the Democrats have covertly planned schemes to take your money and give it to our enemies and the U.N.

Biden wants to give $200 Million to Iran.

"Seems to me this would be a good time to send, no strings attached, a check for $200 million to Iran," Biden declares. He surveys the table with raised eyebrows, a How do ya like that? look on his face."

http://www.tnr.com/columnists/story.html?id=ba9b09bb-ed01-4582-b6ec-444834c9df73&k=93697

Obama wants to give $845 Billion to the United Nations.

"Obama's $845 billion U.N. plan forwarded to U.S. Senate floor...'Global Poverty Act' to cost each citizen $2,500 or more"

http://www.wnd.com/index.php?pageId=70308

Why don't you folks take this seriously? The Democrats are tax and spend leftists and friends of Communists and gangsters and terrorists. But they make us feeeel good.

Well, I'm sorry but that's not enough to earn my vote.

Will the fans and supporters of Sarah Palin hide beneath a rock after her first debate with Joe Biden? That is my question. I do't think so, because there isn't a rock big enough for such a historical political mistake for picking Sarah Palin for Vice President running mate.
On a presonal note: I have nothing against Sarah Palin. I am sure she is a lovely person. However, I truly believe she is not qualified to be VP and as a possiblitiy as President, which is the most pressing concern on my mind.

While Sarah Palin and her husband is running around, with unreasonable political ambitions, politicking trying to be VP, who is taking care of her special needs child she "allegedly" had earlier this year?

Bristol? Perhaps the real mother?

Isn't it curious (and amazingly selfish) that a "mother" will neglect her new born disabled child to seek political glory?

Why aren't all these pro-life, pro-family, so-called "christians" in the Republican party who have been "energized" by the Palin candidacy concerned about this selfish neglect of the children they claim to champion?

If this is'nt the height of hypocrisy and political expediency, I sure as hell dont know what is...

My prediction is this: Since the Palin candidacy is no longer working and has, once again, become a huge liablilty and tightening noose around McCain's neck, Sara will soon call a press conference and tender her resignation citing the needs of her special child...just watch.

I love the comment Biden made on the economy troubles. He said, and I'm paraphrasing, that during the big crash of '29 President Roosevelt came on the television and told America this is what happened and why. Katie Kookrat left it at that and didn't even acknowledge the huge gaff! Maybe she's as dumb as Biden? Roosevelt wasn't prez till '33, and I don't think I have to tell you about television. But is the media all over that? Nope, they just keep ripping on Palin. I even heard one talking head say that the public likes a "lovable" goof like Biden. What????? But if Palin had made that mistake, she'd be held up as stupid beyond belief. I don't want Biden as "prez goof" or v.p. either. And Barack is certainly no more prepared than Palin!

Some people of no responsiilities don't understand serious. truthful leaders and are poorly informed."

Does anyone else see the problem with this argument??? No...ok then let me point it out. The AANG - that's Alaska Army National Guard - is not the first line of defense against any foriegn threat whether it be Russian,Korean or Chinese the USAF/USN with the most sophisticated radar installation and Naval reconnaissance vessels on EARTH is!!! The USAF(Shemya AFB) is witihin 200 that's TWO HUNDRED nautical miles of the Russian mainland the AANG(tiny in comparison) is over 1500 mi. to the EAST!!! Oh, and did I not mention that out in front of them patrolling the Bering Sea is the USCG! The only way to SEE Russia from Anchorage is with a very high powered telescope from space or attached to an aircraft(in case you don't know what I mean the Earth is round and you will lose line of sight from that distance at ground level).Don't believe me see for yourself http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=wl
AARRRRGGGHHH!!! How did the most technologically advanced nation on the planet get to be so STOOOPID!?!? I blame the parents, schools, politicians and courts for allowing this to happen.

Better yet why don't you just move to Alaska and join that treasonous, secessionist, right-wing fascist independence party, and you can all take a short walk on a bridge to NOWHERE!!!

Posted by: Anonymous | September 28, 2008 5:29 AM | Report abuse

This afternoon, the director of Division of Elections in Alaska, Gail Fenumiai, told TPMmuckraker that Todd Palin registered in October 1995 to the Alaska Independence Party, a radical group that advocates for Alaskan secession from the United States.

Besides a short period of a few months in 2000 when he changed his registration to undeclared, Todd Palin remained a registered member of AIP until July 2002 when he registered again as an undeclared voter.

And today, ABC reports that Sarah Palin did attend the 1994 Alaska Independence Party convention:

As part of their pushback against the charges of Lynette and Dexter Clark of the AIP, the McCain campaign says that Palin did not even attend the AIP convention in Wasilla in 1994.

But another former AIP official -- Mark Chryson, chairman of the AIP from 1995 to 2002 -- tells ABC News that "Palin was at the convention in 1994. She was there."

And AIP's Lynette Clark still insists that the governor was a member.

"This is like a cat covering up crap in its litter box," she said.

Susan,

Among your gibberish, you ask "Did anybody see 911 coming?"

Yes...

And at the risk of sounding like someone who's bothered to educate themselves (and incur your wrath for actually knowing something... such a sin among those with inferiority complexes) the Clinton Administration passed on a LOT of concern (and information) to W/Cheney/Rummy/Condi/et al on this topic...

You heard anything about Bushy gittin' a document titled "Bin Ladin determined to strike US"...?

Well he did...

And in typically arrogant fashion, he said "Thanks but no thanks"...

Guess it's a good catch phrase, and I needed to tie this back to our animal natures and the article we are supposedly discussing...

Palin's "hotness"...

Other than concerns of a venereal nature, though, there's the old "fight or flight" programming...

So we fought...

In Iraq...

That had nothing to do with 9/11...

No WMD... Fabricated evidence used to enrich Halliburton and BlackWater and all...

No terrorists...

At least not until after we cultivated it as a place for them to practice...

On our troops...

Now including Palin's son...

Palin...?

Miss Hottie...?

Sorry...

I got off the subject...

We should be objectifying her body...

Personally, I don't see what the fuss is about...

Lot's of women in the world that I find attractive but she ain't one of 'em...

Starts with what people think... And say... And do...

How they treat their fellow humans...

She's an opportunistic, power-hungry fanatic...

To me, she's the ultimate boner shrinker...

So scary...

Do me in the name of Jesus, oh Witch Doctor...

But I digress...

You also say:

"So all the smarties with their Harvard degrees and all that experience seem to be about as useful as the pretty gal from Alaska."

And then you ask:

"Tell me if all that smarts and experience in Washington has done any of us any good."

Well yee haw...

Cowboys and purdy girls can figger out farn policy too...!

Unbelievable...

You, my fellow American, are responsible for our reputation being in the toilet... Our finances too...

I'll leave the ethical and moral problems with the individuals you support, but I wish you'd consider these things a bit more...

I have no doubt left that the "smarties" want our educational system to be as poor as possible because that's what makes it so easy to manipulate folks like you...

Thanks for the last 8 years...

People say that California will break off and float away...

Can we go now...?

Governor Palin has been vilified in the press from day one because she just isn't the sort of woman that the press approves of, i.e., she isn't a liberal. If any of you took the time to read the transcripts of the Gibson and Couric interviews you would see that she didn't claim to have foreign policy credentials because she could see Russia from her house. It's a cute SNL soundbite and it works well to paint her as an airhead, but that isn't what she said and much of what she detailed concerning that and the Russia/Georgia mess was edited out of the televised version of the Gibson interview. Transcripts are easily googled online if you care to see the truth. What Governor Palin should have said to Couric when the Russia issue was raised again was that she indeed had not said what the edited version presented to the public. She should have challenged Couric then and there because the evidence supports her. If she thought Couric would be more understanding, she is naive to the ways of the liberal press. But, she is not a stupid woman and the attacks from the left just point out the sexism and elitism they use to keep their own in power.

My bet is that Biden will pummel Palin in the debates. I almost feel bad for her, but then again she should not have been chosen by McCain in the first place, and this is what happens when you make “maverick” decisions.

Where once, my vote was undecided between McCain and Barrack, I know now I can’t vote for a man who’s poor judgment and “maverick ways” now seem to include not doing his homework and shooting from the hip when he picked his VP-nominee, Palin.

I am sick of having a president in office who makes “gut” decisions and is ill-equipped with the facts. We don’t need another President who makes decisions without closely examining the facts, like we have had to endure with W. This scares me about McCain, I don’t think he is intelligent enough for this job, and no doubt the average American who reads a newspaper daily knows more about foreign policy then Palin.

I feel bad for her, but resent McCain for thinking the American people is that ignorant and moronic to vote for that ticket…. Are we? Are we that dumb? Well, maybe, we did vote Bush into office twice.

The choice of Sarah Palin as VP running mate proves 2 things about John McCain:

1 - McCain is the ultimate panderer and will say or do anything to win this election, regardless of the ramifications. In one fell swoop, McCain pandered to the evangelical Christian wingnut base and to disaffected Hillary voters.

2 - McCain shows that despite his 26 years of experience, he is capable of making very rash and highly questionable decisions. In choosing Palin, McCain eschewed hundreds of more qualified individuals in the GOP. Is there anyone in the country besides those in the McCain campaign that could argue that Sarah Palin was the most qualified person in the country to succeed John McCain in the event he couldn't continue his presidency? Exactly what does this say about McCain's judgment?

Joanne600, You are exactly right. What Palin "should have said"...but didn't.

Unfortunately, what she did say didn't make any sense. And that is the problem. Everyone who makes hundreds of speeches over and over is bound to make a gaffe now and then, unless they are deliberately lying. But the majority of the time what they say makes sense, even if you don't agree.

Palin has only had three times to be interviewed and blew it so badly that even her own supporters couldn't justify her performance.

Besides, the person who first made the connection between seeing Russia from Alaska equals foreign policy experience was McCain.

Why is it that evangelical Christians will vote for any other evangelical Christian for President or Vice President, regardless of their complete lack of qualifications for the job?????????????

Stupid is as stupid does. You can lay much of the blame for the mess this country is in on that.

Obama claimed he had foreign experience because he lived in Indonesia when he as child. Then he visited Pakistan while he was young Muslim for 4 weeks.
These visits counted towards foreign experience for the president. What else he had before he put his papers for president.
Media likes those credentials for President.
But for VP, you ask so many questions.

Some women work hard to get the job done; but I've seen many more interested in doing their nails, on the job too. How could the truth be a sexist statement. I didn't say all. I would have voted for Hillary, absolutely. She could even do her nails on the job if she wanted to, I'm cool. Everyone does other stuff on the job.

I don't think Palin is hot, not even close. Okay looking but not hot. Be serious. Pamela Anderson looks hot and would probably be a better vice president. I mean Palin? More like Paleing. What a poor choice.

Palin is a bimbo with zero qualifications in this level of politics. More people live in the Harrisburg metro area than in her state.

She "could" see Russia from parts of her state; but I very seriously doubt that she has actually seen Russia. That might actually have some merit to it, seeing Russia from your ground. Reality right there before you could spark some thought; but I doubt if she ever saw it except from a plane window.

Palin is not hot. Palin is a bimbo and makes foolish comments that reveal her shallowness.

Wait until she debates Biden. Biden won't play around with politically correct rhetoric but he is an elder statesman and will make her look bimboish without doubt. It'll be like Sen. Byrd debating Pamela Anderson, much better choice. She wouldn't even have a real good idea about what he was talking about but might be able to bring it down to the level we could all understand.

But I can't understand Palin. She'd make a good secretary at Walmart.

How is it that Sarah Palin can repeat lies so easily? Is she able to sleep at nite?

With so much evidence that Sarah Palin was for the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it, how is it that she repeatedly says ''I told Congress "thanks, but no thanks" for that Bridge to Nowhere.''

The ultimate absurdity is that Governor Palin kept the money that Congress had allocated for the Bridge-to-Nowhere-pork- project and spent it on other pork projects, and then lies and lies that she turned the project down.

Biden needs to nail her in the debates on this pack of lies. Palin's hometown was addicted to earmarks when she was mayor, and Palin's Alaska is, too. Sarah Palin's tenure as both mayor and governor has proven her to be the ultimate welfare queen.

PALIN: That's why I say I, like every American I'm speaking with, were ill about this position that we have been put in where it is the taxpayers looking to bail out. But ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health-care reform that is needed to help shore up our economy, helping the—it's got to be all about job creation, too, shoring up our economy and putting it back on the right track. So health-care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americans. And trade, we've got to see trade as opportunity, not as a competitive, scary thing. But one in five jobs being created in the trade sector today, we've got to look at that as more opportunity. All those things under the umbrella of job creation. This bailout is a part of that.

This article is a "human interest" article about someone who was ripped from relative obscurity and thrust into national notoriety literally overnight. There are, of course, political implications because somehow she was picked by McCain as his running mate.
As far as her qualifications go, read

"Prominent conservative columnist Kathleen Parker, an early supporter of Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin, said Friday recent interviews have shown the Alaska governor is "out of her league" and should leave the GOP presidential ticket for the good of the party."
continue reading here:

I've seen her interviews. They gave me cramps from cringing so much. I have three stores. If an applicant for salesclerk demonstrated the same lack of verbal skills as we have seen from Governor Palin, I would have deemed her unqualified for the minimum wage job. I would never feel safe with her watching the store.

We have had the liberal type people running this country in the guise of new Labour and the country is now full of people dying to get out. I,ve read comments about Palin from people who say she doesn,t have the experience or professionalism needed to be a good VP or the gift of the gab either. Washington and New York are full of experienced professional people and look what a state your country is in but I don,t think they will havwe to bail out Alaska. If you ever get a chance to read 2 Saturday editons of the English Daily Mail and read the comments of an extremely insightful WOMAN jourmalst who is also a down to earth Aussie and read her comments about Palin and Obama you will find them very interesting but more importantly she has hit the nail on the head about both of them. This type of article being in the Washington Post is reason we need Sarah Palin. Ever since the left was able to essentially hijack both parties after the 1965 Hart-Celler Immigration Act our countries values have gone South. As much as people think Republicans are one big glob they certainly are not. The Republican Party has been essentially run by the neo-cons (and their predecessors) since 1960. Ms. Akers and the press can sniff out that Gov. Palin relizes that Gov. Palin is much more aligned with "true" Republican values than Bush/Cheney (They talk values but are neo-cons). That is why Ms. Akers and the press need to destroy Gov. Palin because they are more scared of her than Dick Cheney and rightly so. She'll be much more concerned about changing the values in the USA than bringing Democracy (The Bush Doctrine - ha ha ha) to Third-world backwaters or helping oil companies (she increased the taxes on them in Alaska). Go Sarah! First she'll clean up Wall Street and all the thieves there and then she'll clean up America.

All this is so easy to spout when one has little sense of history. Being President also includes the ability to inspire, to lead by example, to have a keen sense of right and wrong--all things we should recognize as absent under the Republicans the past 8 years (and McCain has been right there in the middle of them!)"

My response:

Obama has flaws and shortcomings that few of his supporters even acknowledge because the media is unwilling to do their job of bringing these facts to light or exploring the questions about his past and holding his feet to the fire. And because there is no media investigation of these aspects of his past and no news of it that his supporters are willing to demand he answer his supporters just assume he's squeaky clean. And he is deceptive enough to look the part of "squeaky clean patriot."

If Obama wins we all will be subject to the effects of our negligence in looking objectively at his qualifications.

Rezko the convicted felon. Ayers the unrepentant terrorist. Auchi the fugitive Iraqi billionaire. Wright the racist pastor. Frank Marshall Davis the Communist mentor. And the story of his acceptance at Harvard despite less than stellar grades and despite questionable funding sources may help explain why he fails to mention his genuine executive experience as Harvard Law Review President. He has a right to proudly mention the accomplishment of supervising 80 strong minded and accomplished editors from all political perspectives. But he fails to do so.

Why?

JFK may have hidden his womanizing and his medical condition from us.

Bill Clinton's tendency to extramarital affairs was revealed before the 1992 election. The suspicions about the Clinton's financial irregularities were well known to the voters before the election.

But what has been revealed, acknowledged, explored and explained about Obama's past aside from the superficials his campaign wants us to be content with?

We all have much more at stake with an Obama presidency than we had with JFK because of the nature of JFK's history and the comparatively more ominous and unknown history of Obama.

I'd vote for JFK all day long but I'd only vote for Obama when (or if) he answered the questions you all have managed to help him dodge.

If he had nothing to hide he would come clean rather than try to sweep his past associations under the rug.

We all have a history and few people's histories are flawless. But don't we have a right to know everything about his past?

And if we don't discover the blemishes now we will have to live with our failure for decades to come, and maybe longer.

And if you don't think so just look at what LBJ's (1960's) "Great Society" did to contribute to thug life and Gangsta activities and attitudes we see today.

And despite those real problems being unresolved Obama wants to revive the Great Society.

Obama is simply bad news.

Obama wrote nactual full length books that you had to have peope that read (not you obviously) look for one small quote to take out of context, where McCain has far worse, far more, and actually relevant to something, look it up.

(oh I wonder why a program on Biden gaffes might be longer than Palin's? Perhaps because he actually knows things to make errors on, she is just taking them out of a hat because she only knows a handful of simple statements and only thinks in terms of beyond-belief simplistic answers to complex problems)

The liberal media is foaming at the mouth at the thought of a woman VP and a War Hero in command of the security of our country!.....instead, their sexism and white guilt have pushed their clouded minds in support for a young, naive individual that has no experience in governance and his only strength is the skill of oratory.

The fact is that America still does not know who the real Barack Hussein Obama is, but we all remember of his 20 year close association and blood relationship with his religious leader, priest and father image, Jeremiah Wright; and we all remember the hideous videos of Jeremiah Wright's congregation which included Obama and Oprah, when they were celebrating in bombastic joy, the murderous attack on America on 9/11.

We all know Barack is an extremist, black supremacist that has a hidden agenda that would destroy the American values we all treasure and cherish.

The liberal media will not succeed in destroying the McCain/Palin presidential, campaign the way they destroyed Hillary Clinton's effort, because americans including all the democrats that supported Hillary Clinton will make the choice to put our country first and vote for McCain and Sarah Palin.

McCain's voting record can be viewed. Don't be fooled by the rantings of fanatics against Republicans.

You don't need to read what "Joe in Alaska" says about Sarah Palin. Her voting record is on-line.

Sarah Palin is GOVERNOR of Alaska, not Mayor of Wasilla.

Sarah Palin beat out two VERY competent men for the job of Governor, and handily.

When are you republican voters who don't make 100K+ going to stop voting Republican? What's it going to take? These guys push your buttons every two, four, or six years, whatever the cycle, to get your vote and then turn their backs on you.

Which one of these clowns is finally going to be your White Knight for Fetal Rights and mount a serious charge against Roe v. Wade. You've got a Supreme Court majority now, don't you? Ronnie didn't do it. Neither did George I or George II. Maybe Johnny will do it. Doubtful. Because they really don't care about it.

There's been a Democratically controlled Congress fr two years. Why haven't they come for your arsenal? Truth is, that's really a non-issue too. But the thought of it sure gets you fired up.

Where's the Constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage? The truth here is that even Republicans know that that is an issue for individual States decide on (its one of their fundamental "Less Gov'ment" drumbeats).

They have a favorite saying: "The world needs ditchdiggers too." And that's exactly where they want you - digging their ditches for them. They need you to stay exactly where you are to cover the tax base. Ask any CPA worth his or her salt and they will tell you how to structure investments so you have no tax burden whatsoever. A little depreciation/loss here against profit...a creative write-off here (all perfectly legal, which goes for corporate taxation too) and poof...no tax due. They laugh at you in the locker room of their country clubs after 18 holes.

Please get your collective heads out of your a***s and stop listening to watching Hannity and O'Reilly and listening to Rush. Try reading. And if you're really convinced about the liberal media conspiracy (the Republicans have in the recent pass dropped the "liberal jewish media" conspiracy theory part, because they're now courting the jewish vote) try reading George Will. While I seldom agree with him, he often does raise good points about the incongruencies with American politics and actual governance (and yes he's a "smartie" too) but is the more intelligent voice advocating the conservative perspective.

Please open your eyes and stop viewing political contests like you do a college football rivalry. The Republicans are counting on you not doing this, so they can continue their grasp on the purse strings and continue the staggering increase in corporate pay, bashing unions, refusing to raise the minimum wage, shipping American jobs overseas to increase corporate profit margins at our expense, all so that their idiot sons and daughters can continue to rape our financial system.

Yours, mine and our children's future depends on it.

By his own admission, McCain is a maverick who is willing to gamble on making personal decisions. That he got lucky and came out ahead in the past is not indicative of how things will turn out in the future. We cannot gamble our nation’s future on gambling instincts. We need someone who can reason and plan ahead of time. If the decision to name Mrs. Palin as his vice president is any indication, his luck ran out. Had she been a man, she would have been asked to resign a long time ago. Mrs. Palin may be a good governor for Alaska, but in the lower 48 states, she is an embarrassment for McCain and the Republican Party. If she is a reflection of McCain's ability to appoint quality people in his future administration, we as a nation are in for many surprises. It also speaks volumes why being a maverick is not a good qualification to be president of the United States.

first off, who says "lad" in the 2008 US? Moving on, I think (as others have pointed out) that it's pretty shocking that people are considering voting for a ticket with Palin anywhere near it. Take a careful look at where she stands on some basic stuff. It's ridiculous, and it could be tragic. I wonder why the McCain camp wouldn't let her comment after the debate. They would have been softball questions. What does that tell you?

Catastrophic failure in two wars; lies about the reasons for war; failed response to Katrina; exploding national deficit and debt; national give-aways to the super-rich and nothing to show for them but a trillion dollar financial crisis; Constitution suspended; torture; a nation in chaos. The Bush Parade of Disasters is a freak-show that promises to end only when the Clown Prince leaves town.

How did this happen? (a) Bush held to a style of governance characterized by denial of intelligent analysis at all levels and reliance on ill-informed gut instincts; promotion of inept toadies and dismissal of all who were intelligently critical; utter disregard of the public's right to be informed; utter disregard of the rules and standards of presidential conduct. (b) A significant portion of the populace -- high and low -- for whom all of the above was "okay," and who were only too happy to aid and abet his incompetence.

That portion of the populace clearly has failed to grow up and learn its lesson, and they now support McCain and especially Palin, who promise nothing if not another, new parade of disasters founded in incompetence.

Palin is a looker. She has those high checkbones and perfect proportions. But that's not important.

I was in Wasilla last week to see what all the fuss was about. My painted butt could win a Miss Wasilla contest. To be mayor of Wasilla is the equivalent of being elected to student body president of Junior high school.

I'm discounting her experience there. How she became governor of AK, I'll never know. Maybe it was the sparkle of her teeth and perfectly proportioned republicanized statements for the camera

Her is what Newt Gingrich said to compare Sarah Palin's resume to Barack Obama's:

It's stronger than Barack Obama's. I don't know why you guys walk around saying this baloney. She has a stronger resume than Obama.

* She's been a real mayor, he hasn't.

* She has been a real governor, he hasn't.

* She's been in charge of the Alaskan National Guard, he hasn't.

*She was a whistleblower who defeated an incumbent mayor. He has never once shown that kind of courage.

* She's a whistleblower who turned in the chairman of her own party and got him fined $12,000. I've never seen Obama do one thing like that.

* She took on the incumbent governor of her own party and beat him,

* and then she beat a former Democratic governor in the general election. I don't know of a single thing Obama's done except talk and write.

Beauty is in eye of the beholder/be-voter.

In terms of looks, not my type! I prefer longer oval faces.

Beauty is but one small component of a woman's humanity. Women have been leading silently around the world- U.S. is NOT a trailblazer here, for sure. I can list so many politicians I find far far more attractive (former Bhutto, India's dream girl Hema Malini, Jaya Prada, Italy's Mara Carfagna.. etc. etc.).

Palin's looks:

Today: Tina Fey, of course. (I like Fey's longer structure better... but Palin has better lips, of course).

20 Years ago (pageant photo): Real pretty photo, until someone made the connection to an airhead character:

Amanda Bearse!! ** Why.. it's Marcy Rhoades of Married With Children: same voice; same character .. **

The liberal media is foaming at the mouth at the thought of a woman VP and a War Hero in command of the government of our country!.....instead, their sexism and white guilt remorse have pushed their clouded minds to support a young, naive individual that has no experience in governance or foreign affairs and his only strength is the skill of oratory.

The fact is, America still does not know who the real Barack Hussein Obama is, but Americans remember Obama’s 20 year close association and blood relationship with his religious leader, priest and father image, Jeremiah Wright.
Americans remember vividly the hideous videos of Jeremiah Wright's congregation which included Obama and Oprah, when they were celebrating in bombastic joy, the murderous attack on America on 9/11.

Americans that love our country and have always been proud of it, know Barack is a radical extremist and black supremacist that has a hidden agenda that is a serious threat to the American values we all treasure and cherish.

The sexist liberal media will not succeed in destroying the McCain/Palin presidential campaign the way they destroyed Hillary Clinton's effort, because Americans including all the democrats that supported Hillary Clinton will make the choice to put our Country First and vote for McCain and Sarah Palin.

Country First!
McCain/Sarah Palin

This is probably why she's had so much trouble getting the woman vote. When women look at her, they see a threat, not a companion. It's the same with Obama and men. McCain leads about 6% among men, but Obama leads about 10+% with women. This could be because women are more typically Democrat, but it's also because men feel threatened by Obama. Palin and Obama are both young and attractive, and appeal to the opposite sex. As a result, they turn off their own sex. People like to think they're smart in election year, but they're really not.

Some people have no soul to such an extend that they dare open their ignorant mouth about how Palin should of aborted her child. How dissapointing! Real women I believe don't get rape because they have a strong family with brothers and a father that taught her well, who protect her properly. They get married and never abort a single child. Real women should support Mrs. Palin, and in such a case where even their children make an error, we don't have to pretend and be hipocrits and perhaps no such thing will happen because you learned from Mrs. Palins "mistake".

Anyways, may God understand I. I don't understand Barrack, he has no sons, grew up in welfare, was abondoned by his father, and likes killing babies. I rather die than ever support him. I think his misfortune is karmatic.

I do not know if Obama's good looks is a threat to men. Obama has a unique electric charisma.. that makes one love him or hate him, for sure.

But in my view, Palin is NOT a threat to most women in terms of looks.. in fact, her look is a big draw to women. She has the looks that appeal to some men.. but in fact, appeal a lot to many women. A lot of people do not find her a typical good-looks threat type: she is not the thin, blond and 20-something look which America adores-- for sure.

It's like that Mary Ann on Gilligan's Island-- preferring over Ginger. Both men and women find her looks more comfortable and soothing.

Now I wager- a lot of Palin's appeal is a direct result of the unconscious threat of Obama's change of vision many are unable to express: Some people still like the status quo. Palin's mocking of inner-discovery/community organizing struck that "stike em" chord.

Don't agree: Go to the hysterical blogs of former Hillary supporters who are STILL insanely mad at Obama for beating Hillary-- angry at Oprah for "supporting Obama"-- and will vote for Palin as a result.

Can you really live with your conscience then?

Dont forget, actions taken when done out of anger are the ones you ALWAYS regret later.

Hillary voters: Obama represents YOUR interests AND America's interest much more than McCain. Vote with INTELLIGENCE, not anger.

I will be dead and buried before I voted for Obama and his bank crook sidekick Joe. I'm not a racist. I am a SEXIST and proud of it. I like Palin. If she steps out of the race, I'll just back McKinney, but by God, there is going to be a woman on the ticket, or that ticket is not getting my vote! The DNC, Obama, Dean, Kerry, Edwards, and where do I stop spat all over Hillary. Olbermann evern made what I take as a veiled threat on her life. Olbermann should be arrested for threatening Hillary's life.

Good for you, for seeing that someone who was so mother-inclined or whatever, kept her baby(I know many, many women and ALL would keep a conceived baby, Down's or not!) does not have the qualifications to run a great nation like America. I kept my conceived children, I have run a PTA, I have been a politician, I have ....blah, blah, blah, but would not dare to think it is a compliment to be picked by McCain to run the country. I also do not/did not think it a compliment when men took me to dinner and offered me many things, just because I was shapely, cute, and at the time, very well-known/popular. In fact, it was an insult, and I reminded each of them to go home, woo their wives and get into the 21st century. But you should look at it this way: By helping break the racial barrier to the white house, you get are even closer to breaking the sexist barrier as well.

Voting for McCain just because of Palin is still a vote for yet the same BS that has brought this country to the brink of destruction.

Being the butt of jokes is not what I envisioned when I decided to support McCain.

Quite frankly, for the first time in my life I might vote for a democrat because I am just NOT comfortable with the idea of something happening to McCain (after all he IS 72) and Palin making decisions that will affect me and my family.

George Mettles:

How can anyone look at Obama's resume and conclude he is any better suited, except by having read about foreign affairs, at Foreign Relations than Sarah Palin?

No one is born with foreign affairs knowledge. Everyone has to learn the names, places and histories. And as a Senator with 146 days of experience in D.C. Barack Obama had to learn the same things that Palin is now learning as a VP candidate.

But where Sarah Palin has an advantage that the American people should take advantage of is her experience and track record as an executive who has made tough decisions and sound decisions.

Consider Newt Gingrich's comparison of Palin's resume to Obama's resume...

"It's stronger than Barack Obama's. I don't know why you guys walk around saying this baloney. She has a stronger resume than Obama. She's been a real mayor, he hasn't. She has been a real governor, he hasn't. She's been in charge of the Alaskan National Guard, he hasn't. She was a whistleblower who defeated an incumbent mayor. He has never once shown that kind of courage. She's a whistleblower who turned in the chairman of her own party and got him fined $12,000. I've never seen Obama do one thing like that. She took on the incumbent governor of her own party and beat him, and then she beat a former Democratic governor in the general election. I don't know of a single thing Obama's done except talk and write."

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2008/09/03/gingrich-slams-msnbcs-allen-concerning-palins-qualifications

But on the other hand, Obama has serious questions nagging his campaign. Questions about past associates and activities which give us serious reasons to question his character and judgment.

Palin authentically has integrity. Obama has to try to create the illusion of having integrity.

If Obama was to answer the charges about Rezko, Ayers, Auchi, Wright, Frank Marshall Davis and others, you would see that he was able to deceive us without our recognizing it.

No one wants to look foolish. But I would rather look foolish than allow someone who has the powers of deception and the shady history of Obama in the White House.

"Ready"

John McCain chose the woman below as his Vice Presidential candidate.

He is 72 years old. He has been treated for a very serious illness. Four times.

He says that Sarah Palin is "ready to be President."

We are currently in what may be the most serious economic crisis in American history.

COURIC: Why isn't it better, Governor Palin, to spend $700 billion helping middle-class families who are struggling with health care, housing, gas and groceries; allow them to spend more and put more money into the economy instead of helping these big financial institutions that played a role in creating this mess?

Read the above again.

Carefully.

Palin will no doubt be prepared with crisp, coherent responses for Thursday's debate. However, the above indicates that this is not a mind that is prepared with the breadth and depth of understanding and knowledge to take on the duties of the President of the United States at a time of financial crisis.

Unlike others, you do not need to act on impulse.

For your country and future.

Think.

Good point. That's even more reason we can't afford Obama's plans to increase our taxes.

Obama wants to give $845 Billion to the United Nations.

What an absolutely stupid article ... it's no wonder the Washingon post favors Obama ... as the old adage says "birds of a feather flock together". Obama and the Washington post are a bunch of low-life scum-bags!!! Sarah Palin is a decent person so naturally she will not fit in with the corruption in Washington nor would she be favored by the biased, sexist, liberal media. Obama is a corrupt slimy worm from the "chicago machine" and will fit in just fine in Washington. His party " the do nothing congressional democrats" are already selling this country down the road while they "bailout" the corrupt Wall Street Scum at the tax payers expense. It will be interesting to see how the Kool-Aid drinking middle class responds when their taxes go up year after year to support all of Obama's social programs that he has planned for the slackers of this nation. He isn't even in office yet and his fellow Democrats have already tried to earmark millions of the "bailout funds" for the Acorn gourp (Obama's buddies), a low income housing organization that help get America into this current financial mess to begin with. With Obama in the White House, it will be like putting the fox in the hen house. If this nation is stupid enough to elect him ... they had better be willing to pay the "price" .

Nobody talks to Biden because nobody wants to get sprayed by his constant diarrhea of the mouth. He's so totally unremarkable and irrelevant. If anyone did interview him he'd spend the first minute inserting his foot in his mouth and the rest of the interview trying to pry it out. You would think that after 30 some odd years in politics that he'd get the hint and know when to shut the hell up.

What so many people seemingly are failing to remember is that there is a considerable number of past presidents who began as state governors and had no foreign policy experience. Some of them were quite beloved by us as well.

Biden is chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and even this record is rife with poor judgment calls. http://www.fpif.org/fpiftxt/5549. Furthermore, many people are failing to remember that on more than one occasion, Biden has been accused of plaigarism, with one accusation in 1988, which caused him to withdraw from the presidential race. Yet more bad judgment calls.

So, if you'll excuse me, I'd rather have someone that Maxim thinks is "hot" over someone who has been part of the machine for decades yet still consistently makes bad calls.

Barack Obama has been a professor, a constitutional law scholar, a state senator and a congressional senator. He's smart, he's energetic, and he's worked for everything he has. Plus he has profound life experience simply growing up biracial in America.
I used to like McCain okay, but his choice of a running mate is a transparent gimmick, and I hope it backfires. "Governor of the largest state?" Hah! Only in land mass: Alaska has more caribou than it does people. McCain is 72, has had cancer, and he chooses Palin, who is dumber than Dan Quayle in drag. It shows a real lack of respect for us voters.

Cara Prado,

Remember Obama's silly responses during the Democratic Primary Debates that showed him to be woefully inexperienced in foreign relations when compared to Hillary Clinton?

Yet, his supporters seemed to place little importance on experience and he, instead of she, was nominated.

So, now you can't have it both ways.

Either you WANT Obama's type of inexperience or you don't.

You can count on McCain being healthy for years to come. And if not, Sarah Palin will AT LEAST know enough not to lose Iraq to our enemies in Iran.

Neither Obama nor Biden understand the importance of Iraq.

And lest you are tempted to agree with Obiden that Iraq isn't important, that is not what Gen. Petraeus and our enemy Osama bin Laden say about it.

Clearly, with all of the supposed advantages of the Dems, they still don't know enough to recognize when, where and how to defend our freedoms.

Biden even wants to give IRAN $200 MILLION!

Neither John McCain nor Sarah Palin would do such a thing.

Make no mistake about it, Palin is studying the relationships, names, histories and dynamics of our foreign policy and by Jan. 20th 2009 she will know foreign matters better than Obama and Biden do.

"Better" because she knows that Iraq must not be lost and that there is only ONE war going on in the War on Terror. (Hint: Obiden thinks there are two.)

De-regulation is not a bad thing. It isn't a good thing. It is good when done smartly and it is bad when it isn't done smartly. It is good when it is needed and bad when it isn't needed.

And where was Obama in 2006 when McCain tried to prevent this economic problem before it happened? He was on the wrong side then and can't get AIG right, now.

McCain’s attempt to fix Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac in 2005; Update: Obama can’t get AIG right

With the financial sector in turmoil today, the media and the politicians have started throwing around blame with the same recklessness as lenders threw around credit to create the problem. Politically, the pertinent question is this: Which candidate foresaw the credit crisis and tried to do something about it? As it turns out, John McCain did — and partnered with three other Senate Republicans to reform the government’s involvement in lending three years ago, after an attempt by the Bush administration died in Congress two years earlier. McCain spoke forcefully on May 25, 2006, on behalf of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005 (via Beltway Snark):

Beth:

Obama has never made a life & death decision nor a million dollar decision.

He has no executive experience. No track record. He never authored a major piece of legislation. Never wrote anything while the president of the Harvard Law Review. He has done nothing that shows what kind of leader he would be except for what he has said he did or what he says he would do in office.

He voted "present" 195 times or whatever the number was.

Maybe that is why his first reaction to McCain's invitation to suspend the campaign to go back to D.C. was to say they can call him if he is needed. That is his approach to crises. To stay removed from the trenches and avoid getting his hands dirty...to avoid making a difference.

I used to feel as you do about Obama. But then I began running across inconvenient truths in Obama's resume which he refused to answer. Rezko. Ayers. Auchi. Wright. Davis. And when you look at how Obama was able to qualify and pay for Harvard even more questions arise. Then answer me this, why has he failed to mention his genuine executive role as president of the Harvard Law Review?

After all, he WAS the leader of 80 strong minded fellow Harvard Law student editors. That would be a splendid example of bi-partisan leadership that anyone would be proud to mention and everyone would have to acknowledge as being important.

Yet Obama never mentions this as an example of his executive experience.

Why doesn't he mention it?

Beth, there are just too many examples of issues he is dodging for an intelligent person to ignore.

But the good thing is that he could clear things up right now if we pushed him to do so. But as long as you and so many others are willing to give him a free pass he will continue to hide his shady dealings with shady characters.

Remember this, if he reaches the Oval Office it will be too late to say 'we should have known better.'

We have the chance to get the truth from him BEFORE the election. Afterwards? Never.

Character matters.

What shows a lack of respect for voters is Obama's attempt to circumvent our election process by concealing things right before your eyes that should have you up in arms.

And Diplomacy will be a joke. You will stand alone. In a diverse world America needs leaders who can see beyond their noses.America is diverse, it would seem that that would be a uniting strong point. Leaders who can bring together differing opinions and cultural understanding to reach agreements that affect other nations. America will need the help of other nations to promote their strength amoung nations. (Whatever that may be) That takes level headed intelligence. That is not showing up in the Republican party. From the outside , America looks crazy with the Stupid choice of Palin. And McCain's continued exclamation of "War Heroe is annoying and frightening." If Elected-Will He and Palin be responsible for WWIII? America may very well vote stupid.

Does anger or fear represent a major of shift votes? I think most definitely!

I have seen the totally irrational and hysterical blogs of Hillary-fans women are deeply angered that Obama beat Hillary. Take a look-- some going at 8000 responses + in just a week. Still in a state of shock from the first sure-shot Woman-President to...

And worse still, Obama is blamed by them for not choosing Hillary (a woman) as VP- a double-slap. Blamed? (Inner-sources state that Hillary gave Obama the cold shoulder to the VP slot (though externally she was "ok" with it)-- she wanted to be Queen Bee or not at all. Plus, Michelle is supposed to be super-possessive and took a strong dis-like to Hillary.) Explaining this to them is meaningless. It's Obama's fault. Period.

There is no rhyme or reason that seems to un-glue this anger.. ! Anger that the dream of the first woman president was gone...

And so, a woman.. Palin-- a mocker of "inner-discovery a.k.a Obama" seems a true balm for them.

Enlightening list.
A big step for women leaders!

And who was the judges for this list, may I ask? Rush L. perhaps?... that sensitive soul, who sees the beauty of each soul, may I ask??

Rush clearly saw the beauty of Hillary as old and a non-looker (unlike male McCain who is cool). And Rush was so clearly sees the beauty on his babe-pick Palin.

It's nice to know Women's rights is going on strong.

What's that ?!.. you say we're viewed as objects? No way, if we get a makeover, we'll be viewed just fine... in fact, we may be called "fine".

Is the world getting more and more shallow? Why do we get dis-enchanted and disillusioned... as we love our mirages and do not see the truth beneath?

No lie: I even saw a major Christian blog site, where men were praising Palin's looks and bashing Reno and other female politicians' looks! In their eyes, clearly, good-looks elevated a woman's superiority.

A woman's worth is her exterior, is it? Has that not kept us enslaved under the judgement of men (and women) for centuries? Anorexia, implants... does the 'obsession to please' stop for women?

Is it not a mission of women leaders to let us step out of this chain for all genders? Sadly, that outer-appeal represents full inner-worth to many in this world...

The Impulsively Unreflective Duo In..."Crisis on Wall Street!"

The Impulsively Unreflective Duo In:

Crisis on Wall Street!

John McCain is leaning back in a chair in his office in the Fortress of Irritability. An aide is carrying in a map of Spain when the Macphone rings.

McCain (answering): Fire Cox! Send him to Yugoslavia! Hello?

Hank Paulson (on other end of line): John, it's Hank. We are here in the Capitol. Every financial expert is assembled here, John. We have consulted every master, conferred with the widest and most informed authorities, asked every adept. We need you, John, you, with your mastery of financial expertise, to arrive at the door of our ineptitude and help us find an answer.

John. You must...suspend the campaign.

McCain: Suspend the campaign? But...the people need need my expert advice here, Hank. (Aide is unfolding the map on a table, circling Spain in red, and writing in large bold letters "Not Czechoslovakia"). They need me here. Where my acts can matter most. In...

Aide: The Fortress, Sir.

McCain: The Fortress, Hank. I can't just sit up and say "I suspend my campaign." That would look to anyone like the most clear act of political pandering, why, it's just...just...(the "I" on his chest lights up and begins to blink, weakly). I'll do it!

Hank: That's wonderful, John. We'll see you...

McCain: (Standing up, cape waving behind him) In a moment!

Aide: (to McCain): But who will man the fortress?

McCain walks to secret bookshelf. Removes book entitled "Courage". The bookshelf magically spins, revealing a grey vault. McCain turns the combination lock.

McCain: 21...72...23...skidoo...Drat! (starting again) 21...90...I'm sure that I disagreed with President Bush a lot of the time, Senator Obama! (pauses).

Aide: Let me help you with that, Sir (quickly turns the lock left, right and left. The door of the vault slowly opens, with the sound of a vacuum seal.

This reveals a large auditorium, filled with advisers, cameras, and teleprompters. Over loudspeakers, a voice is filling the hall with sound: "The capital of Iraq is...Baghdad. Bagh...dad. The capital of Iran is..."

On the stage is Sarah Palin. She is holding a college text entitled "World Geography".

Palin: Ooooh. I know this one.

An adviser is standing to her right.

Adviser: Take your time, Sarah. Remember--think before you talk.

Palin: I know, I know. Can't I just say "A place that is deserving of our freedoms"?

Adviser: We've been over this before, Sarah. Remember--"Specific is terrific!"

Palin: Specific is terrific. Specific is terrific.

She shuffles her index cards and the loudspeakers intone..."The capital of Iran is...Tehran. Teh...ran."

Palin: Oooooh. They sound so much the same! Iran, Tehran. That's why I can't remember!

As McCain, hands on hips, cape waving, enters the auditorium.

McCain: Sarah.

Both of their "I"s blink briefly.

Palin: Mr. McCain.

McCain: I want you to watch the Fortress until I return. I have a very important mission. About Wall Street.

Palin (to adviser): But I thought Mr. Reagan told Mr. Gorbachev to 'tear down that wall.'

Adviser slowly shakes head.

Palin: But...can't I come on this mission, Mr. McCain? Please? I just know I could help!

McCain: Well, I think that a largely unprepared economic novice, struggling to comprehend concepts that are stumping the most experienced and educated authorities in the area...

Both McCain's and Palin's "I"s blink brightly.

McCain: ...Is just what this market needs! Let's go, Sarah! To the rescue!

Sarah: To the rescue, Mr. McCain!

NEXT EPISODE: The Evil Katie-Woman endangers Palin with a hypnotic confusion device...Questions! Can Sarah resist their terrible power?

Both the VP choices: Biden and Palin - are foot in their mouth types. They cannot talk!

Since Palin has fans who see her with rose-colored glasses and given the fact that Biden has experience, my take is that Gov Palin will win with a over a mile on the debate. Easily. If she makes mistakes, it may due to other issues or someone else's fault or her lack of exp.-- and if she says anything reasonable, it will be stark contrast and seen in a good light.

Biden, on the other hand, if he says anything good- it's due to exp. and will be paled down. And anything bad... ouch..

Palin clearly has the edge here.. no doubt.

Sarah Palin is a dangerous individual. She's dangerous because she's loud. She doesn't understand our history, the difficulties and process by which we got here, yet she stops at nothing to yell as loud as she can about her so called "values". The problem with this group of people is not that they're large in numbers - the fact is they're very small in numbers. The problem is that they're very loud and Sarah Palin represents this small, but very loud (and often ignorant) voice of radical ideology.

i have just subscribed to the washington post and i can't believe all the bad stuff about palin--as far as obama we don't have a choice-he is not ready to lead the u.s. people need to just stop and read between the lines--i think palin will work circles around obama even if she is runnig for v.p so suck it up and vote rep.

Gov. Palin does have that like-ability factor, which make people want to support and protect her- both men and women, in fact. ((Obama has this too in spades.. but sadly it's negated by many who fear his change/vision mission)).

Don't underestimate the power of this like-abilty !

Maybe that factor might work in Palin's favor in terms of foreign talks, et all. We think small things don't count-- such as smiling and asking about your child's name- but it may have that touch which may just work.

Still don't agree with her animal-rights stand, etc. so no-vote for me. But who knows... she just may have the last laugh in all of this.

So please, let's all stop laughing, be civil, and see the issues at hand. Let's just hope the best person wins... that's all that matters.

While the idea of an air head like Sarah Palin having anything to do with any government, even a neighborhood association is scary as hell, I am really looking forward to this all blowing over so some day in a couple of years I can hook up with her in Las Vegas.

I figure I will be there on vacation and sexy Sarah will be attending a Mary Kay convention. After she BS's her way through the convention by putting Mary Kay's newest lipstick on a pig she raised herself, I will bump into her in the Joe Six Pack lounge. Sure she will be much heavier and the wacky hairdo won't be quite as well maintained as it is today, and she will be drunk on her A$$, but our time together will be extremely hot.

I will get her excited by telling her how aroused high oil profits make me. I will close the deal as she is attracted to my moose urine aftershave. It will be spectacular. Don't worry you will all get to see, you know the way that Sarah craves attention that she will demand we have a camera crew with us.

Did I mention that all of this will take place after she has already refused to do a photo shoot for Hustler Magazine, opting rather to do tastefully done nude layouts in Playboy and Penthouse. After our liaison she will head back to Wasilla to run for dog catcher only to lose to Bristol's babydaddy.

RW,

How many $40 Billion contracts have Obama or Biden successfully negotiated against Big Oil companies?

Hmmm?

And charm, she DID!
She DID have the last laugh in the VP Debate.

To all those who laughed her off.. ha ha ha!

Dumb Brunette.. not at all!
Intelligent, smart, articulate, and polished...

The stereotype is finesse if Palin represents brunettes, most definitely!

Found this on another comment page.. GREAT LAUGH!!!!

Didn't have any major issues with Palin before last night??? Her VP acceptance speech was very poised but in the debate last night she really seemed to lack a lot of qualities that a national candidate needs to encompass.

Here's a Republican blog that really questions Palin's position on the ticket and suggests that she's hurting McCain.

Also includes the Katie Couric video about the newspapers Palin reads.

Priceless.
