How Rep. Rangel Became a GOP Talking Point on Energy

House Republicans have wasted no time making use of that photo of Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.) napping on the beach in front of his controversial beachfront villa in the Dominican Republic -- the vacation home for which he failed to report rental income on his tax returns and financial disclosure forms.

The photo of Rangel, which appeared in a New York Post story on Aug. 31, is featured in a new video about energy and gas prices produced by the House Republican Conference and posted on YouTube today.

The GOP video makes the case that while House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was out "trying to sell her book" during the Democrats' "five week vacation" this summer, Republicans stayed back in Washington fighting for an energy bill. (Or at least getting some good press by making a big fuss on the House floor each day.) The video got a big round of applause when it was shown this morning at the first post-recess House GOP Conference meeting.

The photo of Rangel dozing on the sun-drenched beach in front of his Punta Cana resort condo appears for only about three seconds in the GOP video, just as the announcer declares Democrats were "taking a five-week vacation." But with photos like that, and the energy crisis unresolved, House Republican Conference spokesman Brian Schubert says House Democrats shouldn't be too optimistic about making huge gains as previously predicted in November.

"Democrats are nervous and they should be," he says.

Though Democrats might just out "drill, baby, drill" Republicans on the energy issue, now that Pelosi has taken somewhat of a pro-drilling stance and agreed to bring an energy bill to the floor.

Please research claims that Joe Biden stiffed Bruce Riddle of BDR Associates, LLC, in Rockville, MD, for $15,000 for accounting services in the 1988 campaign and for $150,000 for jet charter services in the current campaign in light of Mr. Obama, in a recent speech, accusing his Republican opponent of being dishonest.

Here’s a perfect example of a Partisan vote For or Against the American People in the U.S. Senate (July 30th, 2008 just prior to vacations):

Senate Vote on Cloture to Motion to Proceed: S. 3335: Jobs, Energy, Families, and Disaster Relief Act of 2008

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/vote.xpd?vote=s2008-192

A vote against is a vote to stall the bill.

Democrats: 44 Votes for S.3335, 1 Vote against

Republicans: 5 Votes for S.3335, 42 Votes against

Votes needed: 3/5 of 94 votes = 57 Votes

Result: Partisan Failure to support the American Family, returning Veterans, and creation of thousands of new sustainable Jobs freeing us from dependence on Big Oil and the Middle East.

New Energy Economy Is Post-Hydro-Carbon

As France provides Democrats models for faux socialist social policies which expand the welfare state, and as Germany and the UK provide plastic foldable recyclable cars which get 150 miles to a gallon and fit under your bed after being deflated...
Maybe the brave new Pelosi-world will adopt some other French machinations on energy and consider pushing for additional new nuclear facilities for clean energy without global warming CO2. Maybe Nancy could tell Barrack that the win-fall-profit tax will backfire and cause higher gas at the pump especially since OPEC has refused to increase the world supply. Maybe McCain will tell America to follow a policy which allows drilling for domestic oil while reassuring Mexico and Canada that we are expanding NAFTA without conditions! Maybe they can say in this congress that they are ready to execute new free trade agreements with Columbia and stop politicizing relief for cuban hurricane victims.
Or, maybe Pelosi/Obama/Reid will succeed and raise taxes on oil production while refusing to drill off shore and in ANWR . Maybe the agenda of tax and spend and protectionism and repeal reluctantly of the Bush tax cuts while expanding make work jobs in a welfare state will be victorious. Or maybe American will witness the spark of revelation and excitement in the 44 year old beauty queen who understands the new energy economy players and oozes fiscal and ethical integrity. Amen and pass the Caribou.

RANGEL chairs the House Committee that writes our tax laws....you wouldn't think that he...nah.

He's now tagged by the Dems as a Libertarian Progressive esp. since he is promoting a version of school choice...TAX CREDITS, and has appeared with urban school choice groups along with proponents of vouchers, etc. long hated by establishment DEMS.

He may well be more sensitive to urban Hispanic and Black groups, and elected Black local officials, who strongly endorse all forms of School Choice, including SCHOOL VOUCHERS.

The tide turned against mainstream DEMs, Starting with Milwaukee and Cleveland with the unenrolling of hundreds of thousands of Black parents from the DEMOCRAT's party.

Rangel senses this and has 'readjusted' his position accordingly...but is OBAMA paying attention?

Am I the only one who is tired of the idiots who get elected to be president? All we can do is go for the lesser of 2 evils every time anymore. It's a catch 22, either get a jerk or doesn't care or another jerk of doesn't care. They only talk about whose done what wrong, whose slept with who or whose kid has slept who with who. As if any of that matters. They make promises they never keep. If you email their office you get a form letter and signed up for their stupid newsletter, as if yeah that's what you wanted. You didn't want someone to read what you wrote, no way. You spent 20 min or so writing an email to them, because you wanted a form letter back. Perfect. They talk about how they are the best for this reason or that reason but its all lies. We all know its lies, but we only get so many people that even bother to try because no one really wants to. No sorry they do want to but for ALL THE WRONG REASONS. They want the power, they want to be recognized, and they want to be the popular kid on the playground for a change. They don't want to help, they don't want to make things better because they all have the money that doesn't get taxed, they don't need to work, and they have NEVER lived paycheck to paycheck. They have no idea what its like to worry about how the bills will get paid. Why not actually have someone who cares, who really gives a damn. Because those people aren’t allowed to run, we don’t have the money. We don't have our own PLANES. WHAT THE HELL DO THEY NEED A FREAKING PLANE FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My god what the hell is wrong with these people. They say how they are just regular people well I'm sorry but us regular people DON’T HAVE FREAKING PLANES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HELLO! They are such idiots. If only there was such a thing as a rich person who cared about others then maybe we could have a president who really did care. But we all know that won't happen.
