Hillary Clinton Back In the Saddle, Raising Cash for Dems

The Senate Democrats' star player is back in the game.

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) held a big fundraiser at her swank Embassy Row home, known as Whitehaven, Tuesday night to raise money for Senate Democrats, who are hoping to gain four to seven seats on Election Day. The event, hosted by the Women's Senate Network of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, was Clinton's first fundraiser for the DSCC since ending her presidential campaign. And it was a big one.

The suggested donation to attend the "Checklist for Change" cocktail buffet dinner at the Clintons ranged from a measly $1,000 to a whopping $28,500.

The DSCC wouldn't cough up how much money was raised at the event but a well-placed source familiar with the fundraiser said the total amount was in the "hundreds of thousands of dollars."

Several of Clinton's die-hard presidential campaign supporters showed up at the senator's home wearing buttons that said "Hillary Sent Me." They apparently plan to wear those buttons as they fan out across the country trying to help both Barack Obama and other down-ballot Democratic candidates win. Clinton, according to those who attended the buffet fundraiser, gave a rousing and "gracious" speech heavily focused on attaining a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate.

Nobody was happier to see the party's star fundraiser back on her game than the coach himself. DSCC Chairman Chuck Schumer, who also attended the event, tells the Sleuth, "Hillary has been a key and instrumental part of our successful fundraising since completing the presidential campaign, doing everything we have asked."

Does anyone really think that either Bill or Hillary Clinton really want Obama to win? Want to buy a bridge?

Hey, they would bring smiles to allot of our faces. I'll take Bill's economic skills and Hillary's maturity anytime.
Do you see Chris Dodd out there helping Obama or was his oversight in Congress adding to the crisis?

The house is neither on Embassy Row nor named "Whitehaven". It's one of many houses on Whitehaven Street, which is one of dozens of residential streets off Massachusetts Avenue's Embassy Row. Aren't we a local paper?

Obama was on the news THIS morning wanting MONEY from AMERICAN TAX PAYERS to EDUCATE ALL the world! Obama, AGAIN, USED Hillary Clinton's name to push his agenda. TWO THINGS:
1) Obama, Hillary Clinton is NOT on your ticket! YOU did NOT want her! QUIT using her name. You just look stupid for nOT choosing her!
2) We, the AMERICAN TAX PAYERS, are FED UP with taking care of the world! We have NO money left...we, THE UNITED STATES, are in Economic crisis! HAVE YOU NOT HEARD ANYTHING? This is NOT the time to send money around the world. We need it at HOME! ENOUGH!
Obama, You are showing, without doubt, that YOU ARE A TAX AND SPEND LIBERAL! And with a Democrat MAJORITY in the House and Senate, this means a BLANK CHECK!
America, Wake up! Our debt today will look like pocket change if we let this man in office. VOTE NO OBAMA ON NOVEMBER 4TH!

I think it's time for the diehard Obama supporters to let go of their anger at all things Clinton. The Clinton's have done more to support the Democratic party and the Democratic ticket than anyone. If you or I had been subjected to the vulgar slurs and ceaseless invective heaped upon both Bill and Hillary we would likely withdraw entirely from public life. Instead they are out there speaking at rallies, raising funds and reminding all of us that we are Democrats first. It's time to stop insulting them

Can anyone be stupid enough to believe that McSame is doing this Washington thing for love of country, rather than politics. The old phart hasn't voted on anything in Washington since April 2008. Now, he rushes of the Washington in an effort to look Presidential and promptly screws everything up. People, wake up. McSame has sold his soul to the devil. Obama/Biden 2008 More Than Ever!!!

Obama's response- Call me if you need me?

For what? you don't have an opinion, only know how to be "present". Putting your own politcal gain ahead of the country's well being. I wish McCain would send Palin to debate your a** tonight, because quite frankly you are more on her level of experience.

Go McCain/Palin

President George Bush has no right to send troops to Iraq when his adminstration continues to let the Dept of Veterans Affairs rob World War Two AF widows like me whose husband served 20 years-1942 till 1962 and died of service connected lung illness from the Malaria fever he caught in India 1944-1495 they did not treat or cure early enough to save his life....and left me not one VA benefit check due every miiltary widow since his 1979 death even though several applications were filed with his death certificate including his honorbale discharge in 1962, our marriage certificate and his death certificate from the VA hospital after CA VA misdisagnosed his illness of "Pott's Disease" as arthritis which caused his death because the lund disease that kills millions in India was over looked to long it was too late for the VA to save his life...and all the vA ever gave me was a smal flag for his grave site so I survived with fmaily help while they spent the benefit every military widow is entitled to....Mrs. Rudy L.Vance, 102 W Holly Circle, Payson, AZ 85541, High and ry with no pay VA!

It can never be understated the damage this president and vp have done in almost every strategic area of concern. One has to in passing wonder could have anyone set a more destructive road to follow than what we as Americans have experienced during these past eight years. We started out to avenge 911 but immediately when things began to simmer in Afganistan the most boneheaded move in American history was starting to shape up with so many in our nation anticipating a glorious and short war to topple Saddam Hussein the madman of the Middle East. We had no reason, no justifiable right, yet our leaders decided it was time to control the world or at least according to Paul Wolfiwitz. The fascist neo-con thinking had reared its ignorant head and provided us with the most bellicose, imperial, prevocative and reckless administration ever assembled to do harm against its own nation. To their credit they threw out everything but the kitchen sink yet failed in their designs to overthrow and destroy the greatest gift to all people of the world. It has been such a blatant display of unbridled distain for the pillars of hope which historically has been the hallmark of its people and its mission. Through this recent apparent never-ending march to mayhem we have squandered the world's empathy and support by a philosophy which is cloaked in a self-serving protective cape which by it doctrine allows the U.S. arbitrary determination (with or without U.N. support) to attack any nation if it is warranted by intelligence which concludes the nation to be attacked is preparing an attack on the U.S. The
Pre-emptive Bush Doctrine is nothing more than an excuse for provocation; leaders looking for any excuse to use their military for imperial and aggressive adventurism. A way to justify attacking a nation without legitimate cause based solely in the belief that intelligence sources have discovered incontrovertable evidence that the United States of America will be the target of attack. Under this shallow directive this great nation would have the right to attack any nation based on faulty intelligence which is held as the basis for attack. As was the case for Iraq in that the Weapons of Mass Destruction was the basis for war and subsequently it was discovered there were no WMD's. In retrospect all seemed to be responding to the constant state sponsored propaganda which was fed into all major media outlets to drive home the now notorious lie of how Iraq was racing to amass nuclear weapons. The bigger the lie the more people will believe it. Suddenly we were on everyone's hate list. Even our allies had a tough time swallowing Saddam's weapons programs as legit; and the key to open the door which would have made the case for war most implausable was during the whole preparation for this unprovoked aggression no one was perceptive to ask a question which if asked and answered would have brought the debate screeching to a halt----there would have been no war but no one asked this question; "Given the fact that Saddams military was virtually destroyed during the first Gulf war and the whole premise for attacking Saddam Hussein was his stockpile of WMD's potentially for use against the United States, and since Saddam has no Air Force and no Navy how was this mad tyrant going to launch these terrible destrutive explosives. Was Saddam going to borrow some Navy ships and set out to sea, was he going to rent a few jets from the Saudis? Even if Saddam would have had these weapons which could have created a mushroom cloud as Condi Rice so cleverly suggested how in Gods name was he going to deliver them???????? Someone anyone please why didn't anyone ask the question? Apparently, not only did the tv news, radio, newspapers, professors on campus'across the nation and any regular joe who kept tabs on the most obvious question that was never asked fell asleep in their excitment to go "kick some butt." As we now know, we lost our entire global support and turned it to bitter hatred when "collateral damage' began to mount and innocent Iraqi families were systematically wiped out. Just another case of collateral damage for us at home out of sight out of mind. It never struck home but it did with those who lost loved ones in Iraq. From there it simply went down hill ultimately we heard from our Vice president stating how he supports torture. It is inconceivable that before this administration we as a nation would have ever had to debate whether there in fact were any merits to torture. The drain on our economy supporting a war that was manufactured continues as unfathomable, the abuse at Abu Ghraib, the embarrassment that these people were members of our armed forces was then and remains intolerable. And where did the ok to engage in such tactics evolve from?
It would have to come from the top, the very top. Then Guantanamo, Katrina, the assault on our liberties at home with pressure exerted on telecommunication conglomerates to bend the laws and spy on ordinary Americans. Suspending Habuas Corpus, the outing of a C.I.A. employee and the subsequent attempts to cover it up which in my book is treason and there is absolutely no other way to describe it. The almost belligerent tone in which this president made negotiation a four letter word, the untold loss of prestiege in the world, the hypocracy of human rights, the distain for global warming, the promotion of unregulated business on Wall Street the politicizing of the Justice Department and firing eight U.S. Attorneys, the stonewalling before Congressional Committees. The list of indescretions is innumerable, the laws broken- many, the loss to this nations leadership role in the world severely damaged. There is a possibility that the nation is resilient to regain the footing but there can be no more flirtatous escapades with presidents who are pretenders to American Democracy, who pay lip service by championing freedom everywhere except at home and who could never explain how they were able to go awol and still retain an honorable discharge. The causualties that fell during the investigation brought about by asking a simple question; Where was he? Beneath the exterior in this president I personally never believed him to be presidential--there was little to show other than inability and a propensity for stubborness viewed through the lens of rose colored glasses to an unrealistic world. A president who was once drunk as a rule on alcohol and later became drunk on power. We have been severely damaged. mismanaged, and tested to the core, but the destruction from within has failed and remains incomplete. The United States of America takes a big deep breath realizing the threats it has encountered have been not by a traditional enemy. This enemy perhaps the most dangerous of all fooled hundreds of thousands but we know how vigilant the nation must be to insure the future and how wise we must be in order to protect from the charlatons, the pretenders, the psuedo-fascists or wannabe dictators...it can never happen again.
