You Said She Shouldn't But Sarah Palin Did It Anyway
Thanks to those who took our Sarah Palin/Saturday Night Live poll on Friday. An overwhelming majority of our 1,153 respondents thought an appearance on the show would do more harm than good to Palin's candidacy, 61 percent to 38 percent.
But that mavericky Palin ignored you naysayers and joined Tina Fey on stage - for a split second - and, after Fey was well out of the way, delivered SNL's signature line "Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!" Palin's tightly produced performance on SNL protected her from having to interact with Fey, who has hilariously and ruthlessly lampooned the GOP vice presidential nominee for the past seven weeks.
The upshot: Palin did nothing to hurt herself, nor did she do anything to advance the McCain-Palin presidential ticket. Though she certainly could have done more harm than good had she declined to go on SNL and given her least favorite group of (un)Americans -- the dreaded elite media -- and late-night comedians even more fodder to beat her up.
Even if it did nothing for her and John McCain, Palin's SNL debut sent the show's ratings even higher. As the New York Daily News' TV critic writes, "If 'Saturday Night Live' was already soaring with a fake Sarah Palin, the real thing sent it into orbit this weekend."
The Chicago Tribune's Mark Caro declares Palin a "good sport" for doing the show. We agree. Though given public opinion of her and considering the latest presidential poll numbers, Palin really had no choice.

I could not watch SNL but after all of the hoopla about her being on the show I did decide that the reason Palin and McCain identifying with “Joe the plumber” like they do is obvious Joe deals in the area of human waist and Palin is human waist and deserves to be treated as such .To think that the people of this country should listen to her and entrust are well being into her hands as a steward of us and are children and the world is revolting sick and twisted

As an Obama supporter I thoroughly enjoyed Gov. Palin's performance. I have witnessed an unprecedented level of catty comments on Palin, most of them unsubstantiated. I found her ability to take comedic shots left her looking superior. While her appearance did little to sway her liberal haters it was a television success! In the world of popularity contests she is cementing her image as political rock star, and Americans LUV rock stars...

FULL DISCLOSURE. WHO IS SIGNATOR: OBAMA'S FRIEND, CONFIDANT, LOVER? The media has persecuted everyone associated with this campaign, even those not connected with the campaign, like Joe the Plumber. SO WHY THE SILENCE FROM OBAMA? IS THIS MAN HIS DRUGDEALER? HIS GAY LOVER? (Both of those conjectures have been fully revealed by bloggers seeking the truth.) Of course, you won't see these questions posed by the media to OBAMA, because he's "The One" and not to be investigated, questioned or even spoken to directly. Obama is too important, and too FAR ABOVE THE PUBLIC - FAR SUPERIOR TO HIS FELLOW PUBLIC SERVANTS to be so humanely examined. Butl on the other hand, it's just fine for Obama, the media, the sick sycophant bloggers to try to harm a woman of courage and conviction - a family woman, a loving mother, a HUGELY popular governor (imagine an elected official who has maintained their integrity while garnering 80 PERCENT of their public's approval). Silly me......... INTEGRITY IS A WORD NEVER ASSOCIATED WITH OBAMA

The arrogance protrayed in a couple of these comments and those displayed by the MSM are amazing. It is no wonder that nobody with half a brain trusts the media any more. The real arrogance is displayed when nitwits in the MSM some how believe that it is Sarah Palin's responsibility to be subjected to the mindless twits inhabiting much of the MSM. Where I come from, if you speak bad about me (and my friends) before you even know me I'd be a whole lot more likely to avoid you that embrace you.

"Where I come from, if you speak bad about me (and my friends) before you even know me I'd be a whole lot more likely to avoid you that embrace you." So why did Palin go on a show where she's been lampooned in the past, and where she was mercilessly insulted to her face, rather than go on political talk shows where they just ask her questions?

While I am not a Palin supporter, I give her high marks for appearing on the show. It gave her exposure, and she looked dignified and kept her cool. It was a funny sketch. Tina Fey is amazing at lampooning Palin, and it appeared that Palin managed it well. Didn't change my vote though. But still, I credit her for doing SNL.

I thought Ms. Palin was a natural on the show. She looked great and delivered her lines with ease. Maybe when this politics thing is a done deal she could probably join the show.
Now that this has been said. Ms. Palin has been on the campaign trail stating that Sen. Obama pals around with terrorist when she sleeps with a man who was part of a group that wanted Alaska to break away from the US. She herself as the popular Governor that she is, delivered an address to the Alaska Independence Party most recently as June.
So the question is, who is more un-American? Why isn't this being reported in the media? Why isn't Obama not bringing this up? BECAUSE IT IS NOT IMPORTANT!!!
Someone mentioned integrity?? Come on, where is the integrity and the REAL courage being shown by the McCain campaign?

According to the new this was the most watched SNL; of course the Palin followers wants to make us believe that she has stirred the GOP masses, reason for the large SNL TV audience.
I see things different, Palin is a parody , just as the circus brings in the crowds for its oddity and laughs, the same could be applied to Palin's SNL large viewing. If you noticed the body language specially the facial expression she looked uncomfortable and that plastered sardonic smile was a winner...

Given the fact she doesn't do unscripted appearances well, I give her credit for the show.
Like the Al Smith dinner, politicians who can poke fun at themselves, or allow others to, show a humanity and a sense of humor that doesn't show on the campaign circuit.
This has been a tough year for McCain and Palin because of Obama's race. They had to walk on eggshells throughout the campaign, although they broke a few in the process.
I personally wouldn't vote for Palin for dogcatcher, and this may have been the highlight of her campaign. Nonetheless, it's time she was out there, and any time you take a risk, you should be commended.
This could have been close, but McCain has run the most unprincipled, erratic campaign that it'll be a textbook case. And Palin was part of this.

I think it's fine for politicians to take a moment for some levity. Generally, however, they stay on their side of the line-not becoming entertainers themselves. Sara definitely has talent. She has the talent to be a mediocre stand up comic. A stand up comic can misquote and make any statement about anyone and if the punch line is good we laugh and do not consider the lie s as lies, just comedic fun because a comic is just trying to get a laugh. But do we want someone who uses the comic's approach of saying anything, lying, misquoting and winking to seduce you into giving her power to control your life as your President? What are the odds for 73 yr. McCain lasting 4 years with a history of malignant cancer.

Appropriate for an unknown, absentee senator in an empty suit. First one has to ask, "Why?" If Palin had established some form of credibility before she went on the show, then the appearance might seem cute and funny. But she hasn't so the appearance just made her look like a pawn in SNL's game, kind of lame and silly. Palin was a sitting duck in a shooting gallery, very fitting, I thought. The McCain of 2000 and even 2004 I would have voted for in a millisecond. McCain circa 2008? I can't.
If McCain's terrible campaign has left me dismayed and frustrated, the media's behavior has me angry. First, it was the collective free-for-all and subsequent piling on of Sarah Palin. I'll concede this much- McCain should have selected Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty or former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee for his VP. At two years into her first statewide office, Palin simply doesn't have enough political experience and acumen to deal with an unfriendly and predatory media looking for any single sliver of anything that can be blown up into a headline grabbing controversy. She obviously needs more seasoning and fleshing out of the issues and how to project them- no doubt about it. After the election, I believe she needs to go back to Alaska, gain more experience, give speeches (I can't imagine that she wouldn't be a surefire asset in fundraising), refine her political persona, tone down the folksy talk a bit, get elected for a second term, and then she'd be set up nicely for 2016.
And then there's Joe the Plumber. Here's where I believe the predatory media has long since crossed the line. Remember, all this guy did was express his opinion to Senator Obama on taxes. Yes, I don't think John McCain has done him many favors but that still doesn't justify the outrageous conduct of the media in the way that this guy has been vilified and slandered by some on the left. The guy's life has been turned totally upside down and then some simply because he expressed an opinion. This is chilling and should concern anyone who believes in the independent free flow of differing views and opinions. Because we all know that if someone express an opinion that's counter to yours, not only do you attack the person in question to discredit him but you also try to destroy him.
If you really thinking about it, it's chilling. George Orwell has nothing on our brave new world in 2008. Independent thinkers beware

Aww, at first I was uneasy, but Sarah took it all in stride. The rapping sketch with the moose had me rolling on the floor laughing. We haven't had enough humor in this campaign. Anybody who can laugh at herself gets my vote!
Michelle Obama had a hard time adjusting to the media spotlight, too! Give both of them a break.
Nothing against Obama/Biden, except that they want to redistribute the wealth. Hmmm... I've worked hard for my money, haven't you? I can invest it far better than the government can.
Biden voted against the first Gulf War. Now he's hinting about trouble brewing in the world... Explain yourself. Another conspiracy theory? Sigh. Democrats, please quit shooting yourselves in the foot. And get over 2000 and '04!

Swamp Pirate, McCain has been bamboozled by his media handlers this time around.
But underneath it all, he's still the guy we knew and loved. The media and Dems have done their best to jump all over every decision, while Obama has gotten a free pass on associating with a hate-mongering "minister" for 20 years, among many others.
Just look at McCain's record of bringing results such as campaign finance reform and saving you money on earmarks. Finally, there's his amazing choice in the POW camp of letting fairness rather than his own survival make the decision about going home. He served his country first then and that is still who he is. People don't fundamentally change over time.
OK, he gets angry about issues, but who doesn't? Both Clintons are famous for their battles with each other and close friends. Does that mean they screwed up completely? No. They got us to at least consider health care reform and Clinton forced Congress to pass welfare reform, the best law in the past 30 years or so.
I hope you'll reconsider and stick with what you know to be true. Obama is not ready yet; McCain is. The presidency isn't for newbies.

I highly resent Palin's recent comments that 'real' America is only in the little towns that support her and McBush. Obviously, she will not be a leader for the rest of us, should she become the VP, or God help us, the president. She will only be the presdident of those who she likes, and diversity freedom of religion in America be damned. What about teachers teaching our kids in the bigger cities, the nurses caring for the sick in those same areas. And who were those in NYC who were killed, unreal Americans? They must have deserved what happened to them because they are not of small town real America. If they are not of real America, why in H... did we go and attack Iraq? Didn't Osama Binladen do the real America a favore. SHAME ON PALIN.
She's going to lead us/me. NEVER. Palin, what are you going to do about all these unreal Americans? Send them to Mexico with the immigrants, or to Europe? Lock 'em up until they change theire belief's and opinions? You don't want us in your real America do you? Americans do not need/want Palin's brand of government!

While I was working in Los Angeles, I had many opportunities to work closely to some of the television productions of various celebrities. We don't refer to Hollywood as Hollywood, but rather, we call it "Holly-weird". Over 80% of West Hollywood is homosexual in their sexual orientation, or this is what I have been told many times.
Personally, I can not understand why any politician would allow themselves to be the focal point of derision on SNL, let alone make a personal appearance there. A vast majority of the actors guild are left wing bleeding heart liberals who are so involved in themselves that they couldn't make an intelligent choice in any political forum.

I Quote:
"....God help us, the president. She will only be the presdident of those who she likes, and diversity freedom of religion in America be damned."
Your obvious lack of understanding of holy scripture is apparent to those of us who study the Word of God. In supporting Obama, you have in affect cast off any hope of God helping you! Your religion is vain and empty.
Obama is a man who has a spirit of deception and he is a seducer of men (women included). Never before, in my sixty years of life, have I seen a man who more closely conforms to the description afforded us in the Holy Word of God, as those characteristics which we will find in the "anti-Christ".
Adolf Hitler died before I was born, but history reveals that he was a form of the "anti-christ", but he was not the man of evil foretold by the Word of God.
Savor your time, that which you have left. Walk in your dillusional euphoria that comes with only a tacit committment to your religious beleifs, but you are indeed spiritually blind and are being seduced by a man who will bring this nation under the full wrath and judgement of the Living God who created all things.
For this nation is no longer a "Christian nation", which once enjoyed the blessings and protection of the Lord God Jehovah. For as a people, you have cast off the cover of His protection and blessings.
You think that you discern the times in which you live, but in truth, you are blind. Obama is your "political messiah", for you have foresaken the true messiah, my Lord and King, Christ Jesus. Many of you follow after the doctrine of devils, for your thoughts are only of self. This jackal in sheeps clothing has seduced you all. How very sad indeed that you trade your liberties in Christ Jesus, to render obeiance to this servant of the prince of darkness!

Hey all you Sarah bashers, Dumocrats, uninformed and SNL watchers, you fail to realize that SNL had the absolute highest ratings when Sarah was there. That says something more than you can say. Ignorance is bliss, so can't blame you for not knowing her accomplishments. She happens to be the ONLY candidate who ever governed a State. In fact she has more experience than Obama. So say what you want and I'm sure you will, but the facts bear the truth. Don't hate her cause she's smart and beautiful. Feminist women hate her for having it all. Most normal women celebrate her. Don't worry, be happy.....LOL

In the words of Betty Davis, "fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy ride "
As demonstrated on SNL, you've got rhythm Sarah. If this gig does not work out, your talents/skills can transfer into the hip-hop world.
Just think, you have the potential of taking the vice presidential role into new heights. Congrats.

Ahhhh, listen to the frantic whines of the Grand OLD Party of EXCLUSION! Boo, hoo, how come Obama gets away with everything while our candidates are abused relentlessly. Pay back by the American people for the last 8 years you MORONS! Palin did okay on SNL. The spite that was hanging in the air didn't phase her one bit. She isn't very empathetic is she?

There you go again Jordan. The politics of EXCLUSION. Oh, and I like your little disclaimer about the percentage of homosexuals in Holly weird, which, by the way has been used by people since the early 70's and maybe sooner, or so I am told! You are obviously one frustrated homophobe!

I am horrified to think she might be Vice-President. I am even more frightened by the idea that she could well end up as President! John McCain is obviously not the man he was in the past; I believe his health problems are catching up with him now, as I believe his current performance shows. So we end up in a couple of years with Palin.
Yoooauch!
Hereever I believe Ms. Palin could be a fabulous comedian (or is she all ready one?} She has missed her calling. Too bad she seems so power crazy and abusive. Assuming that the Republicans lose, we could have even more fun with her after the election.

How magnanimous of the Post to give the semi-literate a venue to spout their garbage. "Human waist", indeed! If we declared a "War on Education" and conducted it in the same manner as the "War on Drugs" or the "War on Terror", you chowderheads would be "Hooked on Phonics" well before Easter!

I'm a simple guy. I just thought it was funny. But even the great opening couldn't top the pregnant redneck shakin it in the dive surrounded by all those mullets.

SNL stinks ever since Eddie Murphy left....
And is only popular now due to another MORON form the "Grans O'le Party"....
After the election is over and Carribou Barbie is back in the Alaskan Wilderness reuns of Family Guy on TBS will beat them again.....
Besides..peeeuuu Palin....A $150,000 dollars on fashion sense....I think they would make more sense if they had used the money getting her a 3rd grade "social studies" teacher and explain the US Constitution to her..
....she could have continued to buy her clothes at Walmart..and THEN she would really represent "small town" America....
And SNL still stinks......

Someone pointed out that Palin should be the model for "Lens Crafters" which would be perfect for her. She actually looks like the woman who already has this job.

I would like to know how many of you brave bloggers would go into a room full of people that have such distain for you that they would take their millions of dollars and leave their homes (and the people that made them rich). She walked up face to face with people that have attacked her personally and professionaly. She showed more (pardon the expression) gonads that either Obama or McCain. She faced down critics and smiled the whole time. I admire that in her. Maybe she should get some credit for her strengths.

Sarah Palin is taking advantage of this whole arena she's got herself into... I just hope SNL didn't pay for her perfomance.... Tina is an actress by trade Sarah is learning.

Your review of Palin's appearance on SNL and limited (read: NONE) interaction with Tina Fey is one way to view the encounter. The other is that any interaction between the two accomplished women would have shown them to be what they are, Fey: a phenomenalcomedic genius gifted at impersonation and Palin: a charismatic individual with leadership skills. That certainly would not have served Ms. Fey's purposes, so perhaps the tightly scripted skit was truly set up to protect the idea of Fey's character as "real" rather than be seen for what it is, a funny spot on performance using heightened body language and hyperbole. In any event, the opening was funny. And thank God for women like Gov. Palin AND Tina Fey, breaking down gender preclusions in their respective fields, both.

Looks like Obama loyalist are still peeved Palin is a "superstar" like "that one."
I see many want Obama to go on SNL to see if he can beat her 14 million rating. So juvenile.

In response to the the posted question: My God, what has happened to people to be so judgemental and hateful?
It is what the religous right has taught us. Someone doesn't agree with you, then judge them, belittle their ideas, and make everyone else afraid of them. Lesson learned. Funny how the hunting, hockey mom, pit bull with lipstick likes to dish it out at every turn, but cries foul when she is on the receiving end. Hypocracy fuels anger.

It's all over for McCain/Palin ticket, it is highly anything is going to work against Obama/Biden ticket. The very choice of his personal beauty queen Sarah Pelin by McCain, speaks volumes about misjudgements, now and after November 4th will confirm the Obama/Biden ticket is on the right track and election is almost over.!!!!

****AMERICA SHOULD BE FEARFULLY CONCERNED****
In the last month, After Governor Sarah Palin and HER Administration was refused by The Alaska Superior Court, then refused by The Alaska Supreme Court to SQUASH the “Troopergate Investigation” against Sarah Palin, the Alaska State Legislative Investigation (LAW) moved on the investigation of the Firing of the Alaska State Public Safety Commissioner.
Gov.Sarah Palin “IS” found “GUILTY” by The Alaska State Legislature [60] Lawmakers, [Mostly Republicans] .in the Investigation of Firing" The Chief of The Alaska State Public Safety Commissioner, Walt Monegan.
TROOPERGATE: In plain English, Sarah Palin has been legally PROVEN that she broke the Alaska State Ethics Law in ABUSING HER power in pushing for the firing of a State Trooper once married to her sister and by also ALLOWING her husband Todd Palin to use the Alaska Governor's Office in a crusade against the Officer. She is charged with 18 Ethic Violation Facts.
Currently the State of Alaska Personnel Board [appointed by Sara Palin} hired a private Investigator to continue the “Troopergate Investigation” on possible OTHER Ethic Violations which Palin allowed HER appointed Administration to participate in. Sarah Palins appointed State of Alaska, Attorney General Colberg, cannot participate to defend Gov. Palin or to defend her Administration. Why? Because he also is in conflict of interest
ALASKA GOVERNOR RECALL!
I am an Alaskan life voting Republican. This 2008 Election, I will [with pleasure] vote Democrat!
This Alaska Governor Palin has Destroyed and continues to attempt to Destroy "MANY GOOD ALASKAN PEOPLE(s)” Professionally and Politically during her "VERY SHORT" term position as Mayor in a small community Wasilla, Ak (Approx 5,000 + residents during her reign) and currently the Alaska State Governor.
McCain’s V.P. selection Sarah Palin unequivocally has NO business being the Alaska Governor, let alone, a USA Candidate for Vice President…..
Maverick??.....”AMERICA SHOULD BE FEARFULLY CONCERNED”
I voted for Sarah Palin in Alaskans 2006 Governor Election. MISTAKE!.... Never Again… I repeat-NEVER AGAIN!!....Alaska Governor Palin is an absolute Embarrassment to the Alaska People(s) and "IS PROVEN” Over and Over to be an insatiable LIAR!!..
.
How can she possibly ASSUME to possess the ability to clean up America, when she cannot clean the progressive ''MESS" She has created, then left Alaska to run for the United States V.P. Yes, she .departed leaving “HERSELF and HER husband todd palins” Mess FOR Alaskans to Clean-Up!!
MCCAIN, you should be ASHAMED of yourself!!!! This victim (palin) has no business in this Presidential Arena.

Jordan, Jordan, Jordan: continue reading your Holy Writ and believing anything you feel you've found in it. Just remember (or maybe please learn for the first time ever) that there are actually Liberal Christians! That's unbelievable, isn't it?? Quit worrying about us -- work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. And remember: no man knoweth the day or the hour. So if you have it all figured out, perhaps you've gotten the wrong message??!!
Jesus was a liberal, by the way. Had you been there Jordan, you'd have been one of the "whited sepulchers" He spoke about.

I think Palin did a great job on SNL. I heard it had the highest ratings. I also got the feeling that Joe Biden liked her and her family after the VP debates. It seemed as though they all really did get along and linger with each other longer. She seems to be a down to earth person sort of like the avg. American and that doesn't fly with the Democrates. Democrates like smooth talking lawyers that lie, bend the rules and change the laws to favor their outcome. Most of the DC crowd will never have a woman as President if they can help it. There look on woman are keep the barefoot and pregnant and out of Washington. Just like I believe it was the TN. gov. with his mistress on the phone recently telling her what her job was.

Well my amusement for today has been accomplished by just reading some of the comments - and headliners for this week.
Did anyone criticize Bill Clinton when he was on SNL? NO and why is that? Wonder why that was? OH, excuse me he was a Democrat and that gives them passes for anything they want to do.

I think Palin is a freak show, all by herself. She does not need any "help" one way or another from commercial sources. However, in a democracy, everyone should be fully informed -- so, whatever it takes to reveal the true person to all voters is OK with me.
