'Impact' Inaugural Party to Feature Kanye West
Just as he did in Denver for the Democratic National Convention, rapper Kanye West will be performing in Washington on Jan. 20 at an event sure to go down in history as one of Washington's hottest inaugural bashes.
Sources tell the Sleuth that Kanye is a "99.9 percent done deal" to perform at the unofficial ball hosted by the Impact Film Fund, a not-for-profit organization run by the same gals who held the celebrity-packed "Impact Film Festival" party last summer in Denver. West, the hip-hop king - and aspiring fashion designer - performed in Denver at a big bash hosted jointly by the One Campaign and the Recording Industry Association of America.
The Impact Film Fund began circulating an email solicitation today to prospective donors asking anywhere from $5,000 to $100,000 to help fund the party. Their celebration of Barack Obama's inauguration - one of dozens of bashes being thrown simultaneously on Jan. 20 - will be held at the always wild Fur nightclub in Washington.
The group's inaugural bash will likely feature plenty of the same Hollywood stars who attended the Democratic convention party, plus Denzel Washington and Will Smith we hear. Stars who attended the Impact Film Festival bash in Denver included: Ben Affleck and pregnant wife Jennifer Garner; Danny Glover; Forest Whitaker; Kirsten Dunst; Star Jones; Seth Myers; Annette Benning; and Taye Diggs.
Sounds like this inaugural ball will rival the one being hosted by the Creative Coalition, which features a very different artist, one of our all-time favorites - Elvis Costello. But for those who aren't really into rap, West will have a very different sound at the inaugural party than he did just last summer and will most likely be performing tracks from his new album 808s and Heartbreak, which apparently is his first album ever not to carry the parental advisory sticker.
