Biden's F-Bomb On Live Mic Was a Joke

Another day, another verbal whoops from Vice President Biden.

On Friday, Biden was overheard on a live microphone dropping the F-bomb to a former Senate colleague who addressed him as "Mr. Vice President."

"Give me a (bleeping) break," the vice president replied offhandedly, according to the Huffington Post, which published an audio clip of the veep's words.

Biden was at Washington's Union Station announcing $1.3 billion in stimulus funds to expand his beloved Amtrak. (Biden, as you may have heard, rode the passenger train back and forth from Washington to Wilmington, Del., every day as a senator.)

And he had no idea the microphone was still live as he spoke to the unidentified former colleague, the vice president's spokesman, Jay Carney, tells The Sleuth.

"The vice president thought it was a private conversation and he was greeting an old friend in a jovial way," says Carney.

A man who prides himself on being a "regular Joe" -- which is why he was tapped to head President Obama's middle-class task force -- Biden in the past has been overheard telling his colleagues who address him as "Mr. Vice President" to cut it out and "call me Joe."

But on Friday, he replaced his usual "cut it out" or "knock it off" with something a little more colorful.

Why not ask Kerry, Lautenberg, and Rockefeller, which one of them called him Vice President? It's not news, but it's kind of funny.

Typical conduct for Joe "5 deferment" Biden, he didn't realize he was now the Vice President of the United States where he is held to a little higher standard. The press excoriated Cheney for dropping a "F-bomb" and rightly so. Will it now happen to Joe.

Joe Biden is the reason every American should pray every evening for Obama's good health! He is possibly the dumbest and most inept vice president of all times; by contrast he makes Dan Quayle look absolutely brilliant.

President Obama has assigned Biden the role of designated "butt of jokes" for the late night comedians -- a role for which he is eminently well qualified and ideally suited. Obama's challenge will be "hidin Biden" for four years!

I'm just writing to say,Mary Ann,that you are cute in an unacceptable way.Surely you know that America is beyond caring about your point.Being only the third responder to your ignominious comments makes feel as ignominious as you. It's sort of sexy,I guess.
Do the hard stuff,Mary Ann,and perhaps you can salvage your career.Otherwise, you are destined to oblivion like so many of the rest of us.It's not as bad as you think.
Life goes on...but it's better with depth of soul and purpose.

Mary Ann, did you write the headline that the Vice President's choice of words was a joke? Unfortunately, it implies that using the F-bomb is acceptable...

Someone equates Cheney's use of the f-bomb with Biden's, which is a convenient twisting of facts. Cheney used that as part of an insult to a U.S. senator, on the Senate floor. Biden was speaking privately to an old friend. It shows me that Biden has not lost his regular guy touch (who among us does not emphasize a point with a friend with colorful words from time to time?). That said, our VP should be aware that any microphone may be live, and should try to be a little more careful going forward.

Now who said Biden did not bring a talent to this administration?
He sounds like what I read in Pres BO's books; just alittle street talk by Biden. Who said a person needs class to be a v.p Or pres? We had BC.

I like him--and not just because he's not Dick Cheney. He's a decent guy and a good Vice President. The meme that he constantly makes gaffes is getting old--because he frankly does not make constant verbal gaffes. The pundits are a broken record on that score.

Big deal - it's a WORD.

Are you kidding me? Now I love Joe Biden even more than before! And I've wished he were my dad whenever I have watched him speak!
If anyone is offended by that f-bomb in that context they need to go sit at the kids table-because the grown-ups are in charge now! Finally!
Gee,klowery57-do you hate much there in oblivion?
A-COL, you've been drinking the right-wingnut revisionist kool-aid and hitting it way too hard! Don't you know it's been recalled by the FACTS! Regurgitating Fox News views cannot take the place of critical thinking and fact checking. Joe Biden has integrity that doesn't make him dumb nor inept as that market was monopolized by G.W.Bush which Cheney capitalized on with his secret profiteering government within the government. A silent [from an undisclosed location] coup staged by his greed and evil..torture revised as a tropical destination vacation. Convict and imprison!

Those Republicans, quite frankly up-tight Republicans, who criticize Joe for dropping the F-bomb, and suggest that if Cheney suffered condemntation for his use of it, then Biden should too, fail to recognize the difference between its use as an angry insult versus use in a jocular way between friends. Jocular, between friends, just doesn't seem to register with the hard right.

It will be remembered that Biden served honorable for four years in the Marine Corps. How he came away and developed into the liberal elitist that he is is beyond me. But that he uses the f*** word? Never heard a Marine who didn't. Who cares? Only those with nothing better to do.
