Early Oscar Buzzkill for Jolie?

Dear Angelina Jolie,

Next time you film on location in Washington, where "message" defines success, be sure everyone on the film crew gets the Oscar buzz talking points.

Because this past weekend, a blabbermouth on the set of your espionage action thriller "Salt" didn't get the memo. And he may have killed any early Oscar buzz for your leading role as CIA spy Evelyn A. Salt, who may or may not be a Russian double agent.

Here's how your public relations setback unfolded:

Adam Shapiro, a go-to PR guy in town, happened to be at the L'Enfant Plaza hotel Saturday night, where he saw the lights, camera, action.

Sympathetic to your streak of bad luck at the Academy Awards, Shapiro asked an unidentified member of the film crew if he thought you would "finally get an Oscar for this one."

The very-off-message crew member, according to Shapiro, replied, "Don't look for her to get an Oscar for this role."

Ouch!

"But it'll make a lot of money," he added.

(Oh, and the same crew member also told Shapiro he hadn't seen Maddox or Pax, or the baby twins, or any of your and Brad Pitt's six children during filming in Washington over the past week, as others have.)

Shapiro, professional that he is, won't reveal the identity of his source. But Angelina, since you are in Washington after all, do you think you should consider a leak investigation?

This blog serves no purpose. A more interesting presentation would be to name members of Congress seen out in public cheating on their spouses.

Hey, this is the Washington Post. Personally I think Angelina Jolie crap is beneath us. If we have to suffer through this content, it should be with Amy Argetwhastername... not here. I live in DC because I do not care about movie stars. I do, however, care about Capitol Hill.

Mary Ann, Brad was seen all over Georgetown with their daughters. The photos have been out there since Friday everywhere. Secondly, Pitt picked Jolie up from filming the other day. They've been filming right out in the open with hundreds of people seeing them. lol

The other thing I wanted to add was why would this movie be an Oscar contender? It's obviously a silly, fun action movie. The snark should be taken down a little

Looks vs. talent... has one missing the other.

She already has an Oscar people

The Sleuth-haters really need to get a life.

If you want to read about how President Obama's stimulus plan will affect Medicare reimbursement rates, or check in on the progress of Sunni-Shiite relations in Anbar province, this is probably not the place for you (but there are plenty of other sections of the Post where you will find what you're looking for).

People: this is a *gossip* column. It writes about funny things that politicians and celebrities do in Washington. Take it for what it is, and, if you're not interested, feel free to boycott. We won't miss you.

And Akers: keep up the good work.

Angelina Jolie won 1 Oscar, 2 Screen Actors Guild Awards and 3 Golden Globes (and nominated for 2 Emmys) before she was 26 years old.

This post is silly and the writers know it. Nobody involved in the production has claimed Salt is Oscar material.

Tsk, tsk, tsk. Mary Ann, Mary Ann.......how shall i state this delicately? Here goes: I've seen your photo. I now understand your snark for Angelina Jolie.

Its a classic.

um is there a point to this? Jolie already has an oscar, I'm sure when she took this role she was expecting a nomination for this just like she got one for wanted, tomb raider and mr and mrs smith.... NOT. I'm sure she'll be crying into her cheerios now that she's learned this little fact.

CMAR,

Not everyone prefers the typical fat-lipped blonde floozy! Some of us like the cute, intellectual look. What do YOU look like?

Besides, shouldn't we be talking about how Duke almost upset UNC.

Speaking of preferred looks -- with apologies to MJ, who is a great (big) guy -- I'd rather see Tyler with the bloody face, as opposed to having to look at that snarky, poop-eating grin.

Just wanted to add a voice to those who can't believe this is somehow news in any way, shape or form.

The Borgen Project has some good info on the cost of addressing global poverty.

$30 billion: Annual shortfall to end world hunger.
$550 billion: U.S. Defense budget

Brangelina in DC .Maybe they can make us forget for two hours , the mess in the US and the world , help us forget the Bull that goes on up on the Hill . None of these politicians think , do they ??? .

I loved this article. I must say also that I was outraged that during these difficult times Pres Obama and Nancy Pelosi had a closed door meeting with Pitt. I don't mean to be nasty but do you think that we would get that opportunity? Jolie and Pitt are just actors but somehow they are considered to be America's royalty. And
apparently the White House seems them as such as well. This is ridiculous. I commend them on their efforts to better this world and our country but so do many other people.......they just do it
quietly and do not NEED the whold world to know. I, personally,
am tired of them and think they are both just average actors.

This is newsworthy? Who cares? Why don't we focus on stuff that's important in the world, like, I dunno, global poverty? How's that for a start?

The Borgen Project (www.borgenproject.org) has some interesting insight into addressing the issues of global poverty, something we can remedy easily and sustainably.

Some interesting figures to ponder:
$30 billion USD: The annual shortfall to end global poverty.
$550 billion USD: The annual US defense budget.

Who cares? This is wasted space at the WAPO newsfront. Musta lost an ad and had some space to fill. This is junk-news.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt do focus on global poverty, e.g., rebuilding New Orleans, the global refugee problem, etc. Unfortunately, they get far too much attention from the paparazzi but attempt to use it to promote a good cause. Oftentimes, people will listen more to a celebrity than to an unknown philanthropist. I'm afraid that's just the facts of the world. At least they are trying.

Adam Shapiro obviously isn't getting much good work these days if this is his big news. I think he's just succeeded in a "buzzkill" for his own career. I wouldn't hire the moron who relies on an unnamed crew member. Is it the caterer? Please.
