Boehner Drops Big Bucks on Golf

Everyone knows House Minority Leader John Boehner loves to play golf. And now we know just how much.

Last month, the Ohio Republican's political action committee, Freedom Project, revealed it spent $10,657.46 on greens fees and food and beverages at the swanky Ritz Carlton of Naples, Fla., in April.

And now, his PAC's newly filed campaign report with the Federal Election Commission for May shows Boehner's PAC spent twice that much -- $20,816.65 -- on golf at the Ritz.

Which means Boehner spent a total of $31,474.11 on a golf fundraiser for friends, lobbyists and anyone else who wanted intimate tee time with the House's top Republican.

That's what we would call... a whole lot of golf.

Don Seymour, a spokesman for Boehner's Freedom Project PAC, tells us the disbursements were actually for the same event back in February.

Seymour wasn't sure how many players or how many rounds of golf that $31,474.11 price tag covered. But he said the event raised a total of $225,500 to benefit Republican candidates for Congress.

In other words, Boehner & Co. got their golf fees back -- and then some.

Let's see, February, one course is covered in snow, winds at 25mph, and it's 10 degrees vs. the "other" course, no fees, 80 degrees, 5mph breeze....no wonder Boehner is so popular among the Ohio country club elite.

Fund raising continues, but, at least

Don't let the news media get to you. Just keep playing golf and spending big money, after all it's those of the elite group that deserve this out of life. So what if there are those that are unemployed, so what if the economy is staggering, so what if people are losing their homes, so what ,so what, so what!!!!Isn't it great to be an elected official in the United States so you can do what you want to do when you want to do it? Welcome, John, to the "me generation".

What I want to know is if he plays golf. Why does he had to spray on his tan? You don't get Cheeto orange with a day on the links.
Secondly, it should be interesting to note where he stands on campaign reform. I suspect he opposes it. He sure is selling off his office by the link. What a sleazy politico.
Give him unemployment. Let's see if he can handle THAT!

i'll give Congressman Boehner 2 strokes a side for $100k, which will pay off my mortgage, car, and make needed maintenance to my house in the form of a heat pump system, roof siding and a few inexpensive indoor fixes. I'm from IL but now live in 17th century VA, so anything he can provide of which I can gain is fair game, right? Now if I lose, how about an autograph picture? And as for the $100k, i'm sure he can find some ear mark expenditure to cover this. Thanks Congressman, not get to work and pass a much needed health care reform, equal rights and benefits for all citizens, and food on the table for all children in the USA.

What is interesting is that Boehner was only in the Navy for eight weeks. He was dropped allegedly for a back problem.

So he can play golf with an alleged bad back but he couldn't serve in the military? What was the real reason for his separation?

"Seymour wasn't sure how many players or how many rounds of golf that $31,474.11 price tag covered."

It probably costs the American taxpayers $30,000 for Secret Service outing each time Obama plays golf for personal relaxation. If memory serves me correctly, a recent article said Obama has played golf 7 times this month alone. Using golf for political fund raising purposes doesn't cost us taxpayers a dime. So what's your beef? That Boehner is a Republican?

It would be nice if we could see what Mrs. Obama spent in London of her own versus what was paid for by the taxpayers.

Press gave a lot of coverage to Sarah Palin's campaign expenses. I suspect the Obamas owe the taxpayers a multiple of that!

Yes Throw Boehner out and along with him Kerry, Kennedy and Frank, now thats really cleaning house.

We get just what we deserve - look at the lineup. These are not the best men that the country has to offer.
