Olbermann Readies a Glenn Beck Muckfest

Updated, 11:50 pm

UPDATE: It was less of a Smackdown and more of a 5th-grade style playground fight. MSNBC's Keith Olbermann did not deliver the goods he sought on his right-wing adversary, Glenn Beck. But he did make clear that in his view, Beck's attack on President Obama's green jobs czar, Van Jones, was all about "latent racism."

Olbermann charged that the coordinated effort to oust Jones, like the birther movement, was part of a "Candyland world of racism" in which President Obama's detractors will adopt "any rationalization" to conceal their true racially based motives.

But Olbermann had no dirt to dish on Beck, despite asking his viewers and blog readers to help him dig deep. He said he had decided to take the high road because "I have something Mr. Beck does not: a conscience, the respect of my colleagues and self-respect."

Plus, he said, "What could we possibly find out that would be more humiliating to Glenn Beck, more embarrassing to Glenn Beck, more disruptive about Glenn Beck than this one fact: he's Glenn Beck!"

For his part, on his Fox News TV show earlier, Glenn Beck continued gloating over Van Jones' resignation under a veiled guise of humility. "I'm not the one to congratulate," he said. "I didn't bring down Van Jones. You didn't bring down Van Jones. Van Jones brought down Van Jones."

He breezed through a litany of Jones' alleged sins and played video clips in which Jones talked about "white polluters" intentionally poisoning minority neighborhoods, called Republicans "assholes," and said it was time for African-Americans other than Obama to get "a little bit uppity."

He made clear that while Jones has resigned from the administration, his obsession won't end. "It's not about Van Jones, it's about the president...Does the president believe in communism? Does the president believe in radicalism, in black nationalism?"

Beck said it would be difficult for Olbermann or any other of his left-wing foes to dig up much new dirt on him. "You want stuff on me, you just read my books," Beck said, referencing his personal confessions of struggling with alcoholism and mistreating his family and colleagues.

Original post, 1:47 pm ET:
Tonight's cable television forecast for hardcore political mudslinging could be a muckraker's delight.

Keith Olbermann, the liberal host of MSNBC's "Countdown," promises that starting tonight on his show, he'll dish all the dirt he and his followers have dug on his conservative nemesis du jour, Fox News talk show host Glenn Beck.

Olbermann began his political archeology expedition to counter Beck's breathless all-caps appeal to his many followers on Twitter recently to "FIND EVERYTHING YOU CAN ON CASS SUNSTEIN, MARK LLOYD AND CAROL BROWNER." (They are, respectively: President Obama's nominee to be regulatory "czar" at the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs; the Federal Communications Commission's associate general counsel and chief diversity officer; and Obama's energy/climate "czar.")

Blogging on Daily Kos over the Labor Day weekend, Olbermann wrote, "I don't know why I've got this phrasing in my head, but: Find everything you can about Glenn Beck, Stu Burguiere, and Roger Ailes."

There's little secret as to why Olbermann and the lefties have it in for Beck right now. The right-wing radio and TV talk show host claimed his biggest scalp over the weekend, with the resignation of White House "green jobs" adviser Anthony "Van" Jones.

It was Beck who publicized Jones' foibles, including his flirtation with the far-out 9/11 conspiracy crowd.

Beck gloated on his radio show today, a transcript of which was posted on his Web site, that "My phone and my e-mail and Twitter hammered all weekend long, people offering congratulations."

On his way out the door, Jones called the attacks "a vicious smear campaign." Beck countered today: "I play his words on radio and television. How is it smear to quote him in context? You want me to take him out of context?"

Olbermann is readying for a cage fight tonight. "Tuesday we will expand this to the television audience and have a dedicated email address to accept leads, tips, contacts, on Beck, his radio producer Burguiere, and the chief of his tv enablers, Ailes (even though Ailes' power was desperately undercut when he failed to pull off his phony 'truce' push)," Olbermann wrote on Daily Kos.

We'll update you after we see both Beck's and Olbermann's shows tonight. Have at it, kids.

GeneWells, the depth of your political observations, the articulate clarity and profundity of your query.....why the very curiosity of your intellect denotes cause for this country's present condition and goes far in addressing its future.

The media is corporate owned and most the talking heads merely read what was writ for them......sans reflection. Olbermann and a precious few others, lend a needed voice in the cacophony of what is an overwhelmingly right wing and zionist media. He not only writes his own stuff he actually understands it.

When did being a COMMUNIST in America become a good thing. Van Jones is a self-described communist. The real question is " With all the Pres. men being communist and socialist, is the Pres. one too?
For the liberal, aka socialist, media that is fine, but to real Americans who love this country, it is not the direction for this country to go in.
What is the right track/wrong track reading now? We heard so much about it under Bush, but not now!

What ever happend to "the News"?
Where did Who What Where When How and Why get lost?
Neither Glen Beck or Keith Olbermann are newsmen.
They are entertainers.
I guess with that info in hand we might be able to watch, but for "entertainment purposes only".

Olbermann has turned his show into a daily tirade against Fox news and right wing conservatives. He no longer covers issues or reports news, only his daily, arrogant castigating of individuals. He pretends to be a highly intelligent commentator yet can't avoid stooping down into the slime of portentous slander.

Posted by: bebopaloubop | September 9, 2009 9:32 AM | Report abuse

I notice Olberman called off his dogs to dig up dirt on Beck. Seems his bosses told him to "kool it". The size of his audience must be about the same size as those who believe the 9-11 collapse of the WTC was an "inside job"! Maybe Rosie will take over for Keith?

Posted by: vgailitis | September 9, 2009 9:45 AM | Report abuse

Doesn't the logic of Mr. Olbermann's position (that Beck is racially motivated, therefore wrong) suggest that Van Jones is not a proper candidate for a high position of government responsibility? I don't think that anyone with a triple digit IQ could believe that Van Jones has no racial bias. His track record suggest that he believes race should play a significant role in everything from education to employment qualification.
Maybe racism is only racism, when it negatively impacts African Americans.

Critics of Olbermann's show complain that his show does not contain any real news.....compared to all those real "shows" on Fox that do!!

Beck, O'Reily, Hannity.....they all offer the same old same old......bash and run type of personnal opinion. Plus, they all offer those super crazy ideas that our president is going to turn this country into a "Hilter Nation"!

Olbermann is at least pointing out how the far, far right has gone in their efforts to bring down a president. What goes around, comes around.....

Why is it that only WASPs are considered "racially prejudice"? Mr. Jones's statements are so racially biased that they have no place in our society and especially not in the "White House"! If he is a leftist, then so be it. But, don't deny or sugarcoat the truth. His appointment by our President leaves Mr. Obama's motives questionable! This President by appointing this individual as "Green Jobs" Czar, certainly is endorsing this leftist and racial bias.
Where is the Reverends Sharpton and Jackson now? If the situation were reversed, they would have plenty to say!!! Mr. Jones is the worst kind of racist, because he cloaks himself in respectibility with his veneer of knowledge and profits from it!

Posted by: jane2 | September 9, 2009 10:20 AM | Report abuse

Olberman is a disgrace. He is welcome to his opinions, but instead of articulating his position he simply blows off opposing positions to "racism". That hurts this country. He completely ignored the fact that every allegation by Beck was backed up by actual video of Van Jones in his own words!
Even this article, Ms. Mary Ann Akers, shows a lot of bias. It is not objective. Van Jones "flirted" with 9/11 truthers?? He signed the document (I think he was # 46) as a primary member. You also quoted Glenn Beck in half sentences. That tactic is one of my pet peeves.
The far left is DISTRACTING you by focusing on race. Look at all the radicals the president is surrounding himself with, and ask "why"??

BTW, when that comedian wore a diaper it was to entertain people. When that R senator, Vitter, wore his diaper it was to entertain HIMSELF. By sh.itting in it.

I don't even know where to begin. What is wrong with you people. Everyday all you hear is "communist",socialist","racism".These are true and disturbing problems in our soicety. If you don't understand the meaning of the words, you should leave them alone.Talk about McCarthyism, everybody wants to make the world think they are so informed, but if I recall it was Hitler and the like that had the people just repeating what they heard instead of expressing their own views. So pray tell whe are the cult followers here. The American people have gone nuts,as long as the one sprouting the nonsense is who you believe in it isn't divisive,Beck and company(along with "faux"news)can sprout anything as long it is what the right wing think, but pray tell if anyone on the left make a statement it is "blasphemy". People please find something to do with yourself.I constantly hear how the right is the only Christians in this country.I don't what Bible read or God you pray to but nowhere in my teachings did Jesus or His Father,God display the sentiments that I have read here.Remember it wasn't the sinners and the poor that killed Jesus it was the "church folks" and the rich.So before you start calling a lot names and downing people's ideas and belief as somwthing that is so bad,ask WWJD? And to all of you calling the people around the President radicals, communist, and the dirt of the earth think about some of the people you quote. Some of you wonder about why there entertainers on TV(recent former sportcaster, etc)do you really think Rush,Hannity,Coulter,O'Reilly(whoi f I recall was a gossip show personality)are true reporters,LOL.You are the jerks(forgive me).Think before you write.

Whine and cheese people.

I read the spite comments above from the right and the left; you all sound like the people you are ridiculing.

You say Beck or Olbermann is wrong because they don't say what you already believe and want to hear. Yet, you pout because they don't report any "real news".

Van Jones had to go. For the same reason "Jimmy the Greek" and every other public person who makes a racially challenging or controversial remark has to go - because they wilt when their statements and beliefs are challenged, are forced out by their superiors before they are given a chance to defend themselves, or both.

Sure, Van Jones would be happy to argue his points to anyone who will listen, I'm sure he believes what he says is reasonable and true. But no one in the White House will touch him with a 10 foot pole now. It doesn't matter if the President is a Democrat or Republican. They all act the same way in these situations - circle the wagons, defend, deny, and disassociate. So Van Jones will go on his happy way believing he was railroaded out for speaking (in his mind) the truth.

Beck was the enabler in this case; the person who did the squawking to bring about an outcome that was already preordained. And, he is being a wee bit smug about it.

Olbermann is trying reverse psychology - Van Jones' comments were racially polarizing, but it is the evil Republican racists who are the real culprits here.

Both are pandering to their respective "already on our side" audiences, any you people are just eating it up.

In answer to some expressed concern about Van Jones: Being a communist in this country became a good thing when RepubLIEconism became such a tyrannical thing, about 1969. It's a comparative value.

When you read or listen to the Radical Far Right screaming "socialism!" or "communism!" do you wonder if they even have the faintest clue as to the definitions of those two political philosophies?

Well, they don't have a clue; it just makes them feel good to foam at the mouth hatred.

From up here I see this; Fox news was created by Rupert Murdoch to pick the scabs of "single issue voters". For Murdock the ends justify the means, he just wants polarization...at any cost. Unfortunately the four horsemen; Hannity, Beck, O'Reilly and Cavuto are very good at entertaining and pushing the limits of right wing propaganda upon those "single issue voters", the angry people. The chant I hear from these people is violence and death. I honestly fear for the President's mortality.
Olberman and Maddow are doing what they need to do, expose the tactics of Fox News. I'll leave it up to people like Andrea Mitchell to report news.

Well, I think Glenn Beck is a first class jerk, but Van Jones needed to go. The guy as a so-called "czar" didn't "have to" answer to Congress (he should have to) and said some pretty inflamatory things in the past. Another thing, I'm so sick of being labeled as a "racist" by the likes of losers like Oblermann for merely stating opposition to Obama's foolish economic experimentation and social engineering. Dissent is PATRIOTIC!

Anyone is support of Glenn Beck is not willing to take a good look at him and themselves. He is an outright racist. The verbal vomit streaming from his mouth is highly offensive. I'm grateful for anyone willing to take a stand on the wrong. How can we as a country pull together and creat anything better, with the likes of Glenn Beck. We forget the remainder of the world is watching. Beck and those with the same agenda look to continue splitting the country, creating even greater divisions. No one will benefit those efforts. Not even the one and only Glenn Beck. For every negative action a negative reaction will happen. I wouldn't want to be Glenn Beck, his family or anyone he knows. It's just the way things work. You reap what you sow.

Olbermann is the one idiot who should talk about mudslinging or fingerpointing. He came out on his show and called sitting President Bush a Facist, then tried to get the ok from howard dean that its ok to call somebody a Facist in certain circumstances. So why does he now show disgust about Beck? he must really be desperate for ratings. If he actually had a show to watch, instead of nightly FOX NEWS clips and repeating what a Republican said by reading a transcript while sarcasticly sounding like a squirrel.. maybe MSNBC would get ratings. I cant believe he got an extended contract. MSNBC is good for one thing, morning news..yeah that right..news.. not opinionated blowholes.

Glenn and Keith represent the polar opposite political philosophies prevailing in our country today. Moderation seems to be a forgotten alternative in contemporary political discourse. Of the two, I find Keith more entertaining and factually sound in his messages. Glenn is a bit more psychotic in his demeanor. His premises worry me and those who subscribe to them worry me more because they can't seem to think for themselves.
Olbermann is irreverent, sarcastic and unswervingly opposed to blatant ignorance. I can relate to his perspective easier than I can the blind, paranoid demagoguery of Beck and most of his contemporaries.

Keith Olbermann fails to concede the point that ANY person either elected or appointed should be of American values first. I have read and heard this fanatic Van Jones make statements that should have the Government WATCHING him not HIRING him. I enlisted in the service during the Viet Nam War and came home to voices of hate for our doing our duty to America. Today my elected President hires people with un-American values. I should have died back then so as to not have to watch my country change. Double standards have replaced moral leadership. I listened and applauded as our great nation showed the world that in America all are equal. The truth is Americans should be seen, taxed and remain silent. I must have fallen asleep for many years and missed the battle for America. Please be kind enough to let me know the where an when of the battle fought in SILENCE that America lost. Also if there are any survivors please send help to get me back to the America I was born in, I would hate to die on this now foreign soil.

I have. They are not Republicans nor Conservatives. They are Americans of all political parties....yes...Democrats are there too. You may know this if the media would show up and do their job of reporting FACTS and not their politcal opinions.

If you would go you would understand that socialists, communtists, facists, marxists, and progressives all have similarities. All want the government to control everything you do. This is ANTI-AMERICAN.

America was founded to give all freedom. LIBERTY not TYRANNY

Keith Olberman is the best thing that happened to this country. Rupert Murdoch and his henchmen are bound to destroy the unity of the races that we all are striving to achieve. Glenn Beck is forever shouting that the nation is under attack. If Glenn Beck is not trying hard to bring this president down then who is? He speaks of nothing but communism and fascism of this administration. He lies, and lies and lies some more to his ignorant, uneducated small following who know no better because they will not read other sources. But educated Americans know better; educated Christian working folks listen to Keith Olberman, Rachel Maddow and Ed Shultz. They debunk the fallacious lies spewed out by Rupert Murdoch's henchmen. Did Rupert Murdoch leave Australia to come into our country to destroy the races, to foster disunity among our political parties even where and when unity can be achieved on certain aspects. Why doesn't Rupert Murdoch go back to Australia to practice what he has so successfully done here - waging war against political opponents. This country has come too far. We will not go back to the Jim Crowe laws hard as Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Fox News would want us do. VIVA Obama!! VIVA Keith Olberman and MSNBC!! Akers writes: "It was Beck who publicized Jones' foibles, including his flirtation with the far-out 9/11 conspiracy crowd."

Setting aside, for a moment, the irony of calling the proponents of even the more improbable 9/11 theories "far-out", in the context of a sentence that begins with Glen Beck, it is unreasonable to generalize, and dismiss, all critics of the official view, expressed in the '9/11 Commission Report', as irrational.

Its true that there were some very bizarre, even impossible, suggestions about what happened, and why (for example: "a missile hit the Pentagon...the plane was diverted, and passengers were drugged and kidnapped").

But its also true that there are numerous cogent, reasonable criticisms of the official version. The Commission report reaches some conclusions that are almost as improbable as the kidnapped-passenger claim I cite as an example of absurd or impossible explanations. Perhaps even more important than the factual errors and unlikely assumptions and conclusions are questions the Commission never addressed at all. These things ought to have been, and ought to be, seriously and publically discussed.

It is not reasonable to dismiss these criticisms out of hand, or to tar all challenges to the orthodox view as tainted by the nutty ones. That is to place any serious discussion of these matters effectively off-limits to anyone in public life. Akers' dismissive generalization does the public no service.

Hmm. Seems to me that in the 40's and later, many Republicans were stoking the rumor that Presiden Roosevelt (they used a much ruder name) had conspired with Winston Churchill to bring the US into the war against the Axis, and save the Jews. So they "proved" it by the snafued communications about the Imperial Navy and the flight as they neared Pearl Harbor, without any warning given to Pearl. I don't recall any one going after those Republicans (which if memory serves me correctly, included Col. McCormack of the Chicago Tribune.

Were it not for MSNBC and CNN and the three major networks (ABC, CBS, & NBC) we would be lost when it comes to television journalism. They report the news based on facts and not fiction. Then we got the Foxmisinterpetthenews Network. There is not a credible journalist in their so called news division. They all seem to come to work and when the cameras start rolling they start lying. Some of the things they come up with is ridiculous. I watch Msnbc from 6pm to 10pm most nights. Those four programs alone are the most factual and accurate reporting of all the news and it is all based on facts and not fiction. Say what you will but Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow are to of the best at gathering actual facts and are very credible. Chris Matthews and Ed Shultz really tell it like it is and they all should be credioted for their really good work.

Officials with the controversial community organizing group ACORN were secretly videotaped offering to assist two individuals posing as a pimp and a prostitute, encouraging them to lie to the Internal Revenue Service and providing guidance on how to claim underage girls from South America as dependents.

The videotape was made public Thursday on BigGovernment.com, a political blog launched by Andrew Breitbart as a companion site to his BigHollywood.breitbart.com blog.

Thank the Lord – God High for the Prophet Keith Oberman; he is truly a great newsman. He continually brings us the straight, hard hitting information on what the so call "right" is doing. Without the Prophet Keith we would only hear about the bull crap the major news outlets cover. Most of the time their coverage shows liberals in a negative view. We liberals are as patriotic as the right wing fascist who dare to call us commies. How about we start going out and kicking the fat, bloated carcasses of the right wing fascist into bloody pulps? I am tired of the right calling us commies because we dare to care about our fellow man. You scumbag conservatives believe god is on your side, what god are you talking about Zeus? Jesus taught love and compassion for our fellow man; not intolerance and hatred. You conservatives are serving satin and you are too stupid to know it! Jesus whether he was the son of god or just a man doesn't matter, his words and thoughts should be followed to the letter if you believe in God. I pray that racist like Glenn “The Closet Queen” Beck is punished by the loving God Jehovah for his vicious attacks against his fellowman based on the color of their skin or the politics of Jesus. And may God bless us with the death of Rush Limbaugh and have pity on those who would have to carry his fat rear end to his new residence – a muddy hole on the Florida peninsula.

I would request that Oberwoman watch all the videos that Beck played on his show regarding Van Jones. Once completed I would ask if he approves of Jones comments for our country. In any situation where the 'Left' gets challenged they resort to racism if possible.
Fortunately for us clear thinking Americans very few people watch KO's show.

I thank Glenn Beck for speaking the truth and calling out Van Jones for who he is! I am democrat but never will vote democrat again! I did not vote for Obama because of his ties with Jerimiah Wright and Bill Ayres. Now I see his ties with Acorn and it is unbelievable that so many Americans (does anyone remember what a real American is?) voted for Obama. Elections have consequences and here we are. A whitehouse full of czars,etc.... This does not make me a racist. Just fearful for my childrens future!!! God bless America and let us stand strong against the enemies that want to destroy us! United we stand---divided we fall............

How ignorant, uninformed and hysterical must one be not to be aware that the most Republican of Republicans, Dick Nixon, started the "czar" business, and it was continued by Reagan and the Bushes -- Republicans all. And it was started for the sake of Republicans who had trouble remembering or saying the long official titles of bureaucrats.

Nobody has mentioned yet that the start of this Olberman - Beck flap started not with Van Jones but with Beck calling Obama a "racist". I'm sure that Beck didn't expect that remark to go unchallanged.

Posted by: bobhett15 | September 10, 2009 6:57 PM | Report abuse

liberals seem to cast Van Jones' outrageous statements as no big deal...'flirting with 9/11 truthers'? flirting with communism, racism and that white enviornmentalist are poisoning people of color? how can these be put in a good light?

Van Jones was hoisted on this own pitard and to see people defend him shines light on just how far our Nation has sunk in the mire of anti-american sentiment.

as offensive as his numerous statements were to me, and others, the fact that the crowds applauded, laughed and cheered is even more offenesive.

The majority of Americans, regardless of political affiliation, appreciate the fact that we are a unique and wonderful country that has provided countless opportunities to our citizens, those who wish to become citizens and, in fact, the whole world.

there is always room for improvment but to forget or negate our numerous great acheivements is beyond sad and that anyone would agree with the Van Joneses, especially those in positions of authority is even more sad.

Let's remember how vicious Olberman was toward President Bush calling him every vile name in the book. He's a loser on everything he has tried and I'm surprised that he still has a job. Glen Beck eats his lunch as does Fox News vs MSNBC. Their ratings are in the tank so why doesn't GE fire these loons? I use to watch Matthews but he has become way too far left, so I watch Fox News....fair and balanced, not unfair and unbalanced like the nutjobs at MSNBC.

Oberman is a joke, Obama cheerleader, race baiter. He can conduct an interview with opposing views. What a waste of air time, but I guess MSNBC has a quota of Obama cheerleaders to have on air. That is all they have so they have to attack FOX. He's the one who got me watching fox, I just had to see what all the hoopla was about now i WATCH FOX mostly because they are the only ones who report real news. Why watch MSNBC? just watch fox and get real information

To all of you commenters who state that Glenn Beck is racist, I feel sorry for you. The man loves this Country and he doesn't care if you are black or white, if you are violating our Constitution or committing fraud, you need the boot. And, especially to jjohnblack53, it's obvious that you flunked your jounalism class by your uneducated analysis of what is really news and lies. It's obvious that NBC and MSNBC are in bed with Obama and can't afford to tell the truth. CNN is in left field and doesn't know how to report the truth. ABC is sleeping with Obama, as well. Fox doesn't owe anyone any favors. They report the truth, good or bad. You need to contact the admissions office at your local college and retake Journalism. Don't ever play a game of truth or dare. You could be in trouble.

To bdavispcthotmailcom, you are pathetic. You are just uninformed and lack the knowledge of those of us who watch Beck. You should try it yourself and see how much better you feel. You might be able to write a comment without blasting everyone for speaking their mind. Obviously, you don't know what's going on and whenever Big Brother comes to your door for whatever reason, good luck. Glenn Beck represents all Americans who are fed up with Washington's corruption. We are fed up with Obama's lies and his association with people who could not even pass an FBI check. You say, "how did they get in the White House in the first place?" Well, ask you ole buddy, Obama. He hand picked, appointed and put them right in there where they can do their agenda. Don't know their agenda? Well, you need to watch Glenn Beck. I'm not sure you can handle the truth. Me, I'm going to keep watching Glenn, raise the roof over Obama's agenda, fill my year with American flags and keep writing comments and replys to people like you. Maybe, people like me will save this Country for people like you.

Olberman does appear to be the main media counterpoint to Beck at the present time. Here is something that Olberman can debate with Beck: the current ACORN scandal.

I would like to hear Olberman's comments about the recent developments at ACORN. ACORN's website has a letter from their Maryland director that sleazy lies and racism are the reasons why ACORN members in Baltimore and at the headquarters in Washington helped what they thought to be a prostitute and possible future congressman lie on mortgage applications and tax return forms. ACORN states they did nothing wrong, but fired the workers. Go figure.

After Olberman has shown video clips of ACORN members assisting the supposed prostitute and her politician-wannabe boyfriend, he could explain to me why taxpayer money is going to this corrupt organization.

I sure miss the old days at the Post when David Broder voiced the Democratic mainstream and Mary McGrory represented the flaky part of the party. Where are the Broders now? When will the Post do its job?

Wake up people, Obama is surrounded by people that do not have your or this country's interest at heart. It is a "ME" administration....he's a good speaker but so was Hitler. Read the history of these 2 men and you will see your future. ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, CNBC are all in the tank with Obama...they do not report both sides. Fox does and it is something you don't want to hear so you bash them. The truth hurts. Wake up before it is too late. One question: What has Obama done in his 8 months in office that has improved this country? NADA!! The only true journalist on TV that I am aware of is Shepard Smith on Fox. He started with Fox from the beginning - ten years ago yesterday. He is a former journalism student from Ole Miss who worked in different locations until he joined Fox. His mantra: "There are no pundits on this program. This is a news broadcast." And it is. He has two news broadcasts. One at 3 PM and one at 7PM Eastern time. In addition to being a journalist, he has a heart, he is fair, he
is intelligent.

Several years ago there were many hard working journalists who knew the meaning of journalism. They brought us the news. Today we have pundits. Even the newspapers do not cover the stories that are meaningful to Americans. They cover the stories that their biased management assigns.

If we had real journalists we would not need a Glen Beck to break the Van Jones story. The major newspapers ignored that story until they were pushed into it by Beck. What else is the MSM ignoring. Actually, there is no mainstream media anymore.

Poor Olberman - rich kid from a dysfuncional family (son of the very dysfuncional Gloria Vanderbilt) gone wrong. Maybe, he is more to be pitied than censored; however he is now an adult and should know better. He lives in a shell, a very thin one and will not even admit he is gay as though that is a disgrace (it is not). He ignores the Jones story, which like his own, is dysfunctional; as a matter of fact, he obviously thinks Jones was smeared (by his own words, I must point out). So what if Jones is anti-Amrican, anti-white and power mad, an abnormal, dangerous American condition. Instead of complimenting Beck for bringing these facts to our attention, he blasphemes the messenger. Ah, liberals - they do and think everything ass backwards. Anyone who condones the nonsense written by Olberman deserves the government he aspires to, but the rest of us, the majority of this country, do not.

gloryp, you have your facts wrong. Anderson Cooper of CNN is the son of Gloria Vanderbilt.

This national discourse has taken a very ugly turn and I fear for the consequences.

For those using the term fascist, please look up the dictionary definition. I would add that Mussolini preferred the term "corporatist" (in his own words) to the term fascist.

We were much closer to corporations running the government eight years ago than we are now.

Pick your words carefully. Best to look them up first; if they don't fit, then don't use them.

To Llamalady - You are right - it is Anderson Cooper who is the son of GV; however, the two are so close in mind, theory and unreasonable, misinformed and uninformed reasoning, that I frequently confuse one for the other. Neither are qorth listening to/reading of.
The rest of your post addressed to me is totally inaccurate. To explain to you why would take too much time and entail some serious history lessons which I do not have the time to give and I suspect you do not have the time nor inclination to listen to or read about - otherwise you would have done so long ago since information regarding that which you disavow, disdain is dissected/explained on the internet, in books, etc. Without corporations, this country could not, and would not be #1, the USA we know and love, at least most do.. However, if BO has his way, we will be communists and if that thought makes you happy, I guarantee that if this happens, you and the rest of us, will be very unhappy. The only winners in such a regime are the ruling class (communism has only 2 classes - working (you and me, well at least me, the average citizens and the leaders, the ruling class).
