To Bake or Not to Bake

If you follow my blog posts, you would think I have an obsession with food (Three of my last four were about eating.) Clearly, my friends do because one of them pointed out this interesting story on Slate.com.
The author, Jennifer Reese, goes on a mission: Is it cheaper to buy certain everyday foods from your local grocery store or to make it yourself?
She runs a cost-benefit analysis on how much she would save by making her own bagels, cream cheese, yogurt, jam, crackers and granola. She obviously has a thing for breakfast food items, as do I. I won’t give all of her findings away, but let’s just say she’s at times pleasantly surprised and at other times, flat out horrified. Read for yourself.
