Rimando Update
Here's the latest...
I'm hearing that the Rimando situation will probably be worked out today or tomorrow, with Nick likely heading from RSL to New York or Dallas. DCU is still an outside possibility, but just doesn't have much money to offer him.

C'mon Nicky, you REALLY don't wanna play in the Swamp in front of 12 "fans" or at the Oven in Dallas. Take the pay-cut and come back home to DC. I'm sure DC101 can make it worth your while.

Man,
They really are trying to build a DCU ver 2.0 up in Jersey, huh??? Don;t do it Nicky! Just say "No" to NY.

NJ has taken most of our recent cast-offs. They might as well have this one.

Where would Rimando fit at FC Dallas with both Sala and Hislop?? I'd bet on Red Bull unless United could pull a return off.
BTW: Love the coverage SG.

Red Bulls just signed Wattereus and everyone thought that was superflous since they already had Conway - why would they want Rimando too?

Sala is suspended for the first six games. Maybe Dallas is planning to dump him.

What about Toronto? Is Greg Sutton really that good that they don't need a viable alternative?

Wow. Just imagine if this rumor and the Alecko rumor comes true and both of them end up at NYRB.

Unfortunately I heard the RedBull rumors about three weeks ago. Sounds like the most likely scenario.

Wonder if Conway is targeted by DCU should the Red Cows get Rimando.

NY and Dallas? Really? They might be the only two teams in the league that already have two capable starters. Weird.

Dallas is desperate to dump Hislop. He's the highest paid keeper in the league with a 2.5 gaa. Sala has been the most requested keeper in the MLS in regards to trades. I'd put my money on Hislop going to RSL in exchange for Rimando (of course Dallas would have to pay some of Hislop's salary...but it would be worth it to get rid of the dead weight.)

Damn it Nick, you have ruined the Valentine's Day gift for my Rimando-obsessed girlfriend...time to start considering a back-up plan...

Hislop has also been mentioned as a Howard U. coaching candidate.

How much room does DCU have left under their cap, assuming alot of that goes to another foreign aquisition? If they have anything I say scrap it together and bring Rimando back. I'd love to see him at another Caps game.

Hislop is not going to give up $250,000 a year guaranteed (nearly $300,000 with easy bonuses)to coach at Howard. Sorry. There's no way the Dallas FO is looking to dump Sala. Besides having a fantastic year last year despite a swiss cheese backline, he's also a fan favorite. They would have a PR disaster on their hands if they dumped him for Nick. Clarke screwed the team big time with the Hislop deal and now Hitchock -- who stupidly allowed the deal -- is trying to fix it.

I see Rimando going to RBNY and then being shipped to Toronto in exchange for Esky. Makes sense for all parties involved. The only question is who RBNY ends up sending to RSL. I imagine it will be a defender (hence the release of Akwari) ... maybe Parke or Stammler (plus someone else).
