Four for Freedom

Gearing up for its W-League opener next month, the Washington Freedom women's team has promoted four local players from its under-20 squad to the senior roster: Chante Sandiford (Owings Mills), Jill Porto (Potomac High in Va.), Katie Watson (Old Dominion) and Kerry Philbin (O'Connell High, GWU). The Freedom will play home matches at Maryland SoccerPlex and plan to be the D.C. representative in a proposed national women's league starting next year. Here's a link to their roster.
