The Aftermath

A few quick thoughts, some bonus quotes and the dreary player ratings (Here is my full game report).....

-- Show of hands: Who thinks DCU is ill-equipped to play a 3-5-2? Just wondering...

-- Fred is not a flank player. Fred must play centrally. Or Fred must play as a withdrawn forward. (I just like saying Fred)

-- What happened to Brian Carroll?

-- This team is not good right now.

-- Eddie Johnson looks rejuventated, to say the least.

-- Curt Onalfo can coach.

read on below...

I think we're a little bit busy reading all the predictions of how well we're doing and hearing how good of a team we are and then we forget all the little things that make you a good team. We're going to take two weeks and we're going to fix it.
Defending starts with the whole team. It starts with the front, how you break down, your reactions, the counterattacks, giving away balls. There were a lot of mistakes made today and you can't recover giving away two goals, that's too many.
There are a lot of little battles you have to win on the field and right now we're not winning enough of them.
(On removing Erpen) We have to chase the game at that point and we're looking to put an offensive threat in. I thought Fred came in and energized the game. I thought he did a pretty good job. We're going to continue to look for ways to get him on the field as he understands what we're about. He added life and he added energy.
(On considering playing four in the back) We're going to evaluate what we need to get better and get back to work.
You can't just show up and think you are going to win. You've got to put a lot of work into it.
We've got a lot to work on.
It's just little things. We're not focusing on the little things and we're getting sloppy with everything we do. We're turning balls over in really bad spots and the league is getting to the point where they're going to punish you.
We obviously didn't start the game well and because of it, we played catch-up the whole game. We got ourselves into good position and then we let ourselves down again. It's everyone; everyone has got to play better.
We're not really winning the battles and we're giving up soft goals. You get punished when you screw up.
We have a good set of guys and we're going to turn it around. It's just unfortunate to put this kind of pressure on ourselves this early.
I think regardless of whether you play three or four in the back, you've got to get the job done. We just think we need to get back to fighting, scrapping and just getting it done.
When you give up four goals, it's going to put you in a bad situation, any day of the week.
Perkins 4; Erpen 3, Boswell 3, Namoff 3; McTavish 3, Carroll 3, Olsen 5, Gros 4, Gomez 6; Moreno 4, Emilio 6. Subs: Fred 4.
Man of the Match: Eddie Johnson.
