Becks Is Back
England has recalled David Beckham for the first time since he hobbled off the pitch against Portugal in the 2006 World Cup quarterfinals. Back in form with Real Madrid, Beckham will play in a friendly against Brazil on Friday at Wembley and then be available against Estonia in a Euro 2008 away qualifier.
This is good news of sorts for the Los Angeles Galaxy and MLS because it counters the argument that Beckham was nearing the end of his career and was coming to the States solely for publicity purposes. Clearly, he can still play and, if he stays healthy, American fans will see him in world-class form.
