DCU Training Report
Greetings from The Grounds. (Not to be confused with the adjacent Estadio RFK.)
Fred (groin) and Simms (ankle) are participating in preliminary workouts -- a good sign as the club prepares for Saturday's match at Toronto. McTavish (hip), however, is jogging on the side. More details later.....
Soehn returned from the Poland recruiting trip late last week, while Kasper and Chang have gone on to China for an international futbol symposium and to establish relationships with Chinese clubs. As you have read, DCU did not sign the Polish defender they're interested in, but contrary to Polish media reports, one source tells me the outlook is not as grim as it appears. There is still a chance it could happen this summer. "He wants to come to the U.S.," the source said. "Whether they can work out a deal is another matter."
United is working on the Etcheverry tribute match for this fall with, from what I hear, an impressive group of Latin guest players. We should find out more soon. Some of you have criticized United for waiting so long to honor El Diablo, but the truth is that Etcheverry was initially not very enthusiastic about the idea and it has taken a while to coordinate everything.
More later.....
