Gold Cup Roster
U.S. Soccer has released its Gold Cup list. Click here for the details and then come on back to express comments.
Looks like Tim Howard is the No. 1 keeper. As the team looks ahead to 2010, this is no surprise.
Keep in mind that, because the Gold Cup and Copa America are scheduled so closely together, some players were intentionally left off this roster in order to be available for Copa duty.
D.C. United loses no players, which leads me to believe they will send one or two to Copa. It is my understanding that Bobby Boswell and Ben Olsen were on the preliminary, 39-man Gold Cup roster and have the best shot among United players of going to Venezuela.
Many, but not all, of the 23 Gold Cup players will suit up for the USA-China friendly June 2 in San Jose -- the Americans' only significant tuneup for the Gold Cup. The official U.S.-China list will be released early next week.
