Galaxy Search Continues
What I am now hearing about the Galaxy is that they have taken a strong interest in signing striker Carlos Pavon, one of the great scorers in Honduran soccer history. He is 33 and has been playing for Real Espana in his domestic league. He has quite a re'sume' -- Spain, Mexico, Italy -- and at the moment is with the national team at the Gold Cup. If all goes well, he could join L.A. in a week or two. We'll see, though. These things are always tricky.
As you may recall, I linked the Galaxy with Brazilian forward Joaozinho last week. Apparently, his current club, Vitoria, which has him on loan from Cruzeiro, is not willing to let him go. Cruzeiro has his full rights until late this year and would like to get something for him, but the Galaxy cannot wait that long, seeing how this season is beginning to deteriorate.
No updates yet on the Salas-Chicago negotiations. Everyone I have spoken to believes it would be a good fit for both player and club.
