Golazo! (By a Canadian?)

Thanks to his beauty by Julian De Guzman, Canada is in first place in Group A at the Gold Cup. (You'll want to turn up the volume -- "De Guzman.....De-Guz-MAN.....DE-GUZ-MAN!")

Great goal! Apparently this guy plays at Deportivo la coruna! Half-Fillipino and half jamaican.

"Half-Fillipino and half jamaican."

With that shot, his nickname should be "Jalipiño."

Half and Half eh? What part Canadian is he?

Sweet strike either way.

Here's to watching a boring, bunker fest game tonight between Guatemala and the U.S.

Nil-Nil again?

And why is he called Julian "Bobby" de Guzman? Bobby?

Anybody else see that save that's linked to in those clips?

Looks like I missed a heck of a game.

it was a great goal and a fun game to watch. all the goals were well taken. check out the costa rican goal to start it off.

the haiti v. guadaloupe game was ugly early but somehow guadaloupe pulled out a pretty nice goal too.

"Jalipiño" Brilliant!
Way better than Canadian Philipaican.

Guadeloupe's star 41-year-old Jocelyn Angloma used to play for France, as well. How can you play for two national teams?

Aparently he was allowed to participate for Guadaloupe because Guadeloupe is not a FIFA member and only participate in regional competitions.

hmmm . . .

So am I the only one that wasn't really impressed? The keeper should be faulted for being in a terrible position, and not reacting to the shot at all.

No surprise about a great goal from a Canadian -- just surprising it was DeRosario

Any chance we get a Figo rumormongering post?

Check that sick back heel move. Kind of a back heel/C. Ronaldo combo toasting.

all 3 goals were quality. and the post stopped a great indirect FK.

His first goal in the game was just as nice!

The ball is flighted up and bends into the upper 90!! To blame the keeper is a bit silly.

Posted by: rosado | June 7, 2007 2:26 PM | Report abuse

Actually DeGuzman has Dutch lineage .... younger brother holding off on caps for Canada to try to play for Holland

I'm still not impressed. It looks like he just said "Hmm I think I'll take a crack" and got lucky.
