Mediate Immediately
Dominic Mediate's wait appears to be over. D.C. United is planning to re-sign the former Maryland Terrapin and add him to the senior roster this week, a source familiar with the situation said today. After his 2006 season was derailed by a broken leg, he was waived this preseason. He returned to train with the club and has been a guest player in reserve matches. If the deal is finalized, he would fill the slot vacated by defender John Wilson, who was waived yesterday, and claim the final senior roster berth. That would not, however, mean United is done with veteran player acquisitions. The club continues to explore the international market and might make a move before the Aug. 15 deadline. If that happens, a current senior player would have to be traded, waived or, if eligible, dropped to developmental status.
