Matchday 20: DCU vs. RBNY
Greetings from Estadio RFK.....
After spending the afternoon at Summer's watching the USA-Sweden friendly and catching glimpses of several European matches, I turn my attention to the United-Red Bulls showdown and a match between a club that has not yielded a goal in its past three league matches and a team coming off a five-goal performance over the weekend. (Okay, it was against L.A.'s defense, but D.C. was blanked by that same Galaxy unit in the SuperLiga semi a week ago.)
This should be a good one. United will need to exploit New York's less-than-stellar back line, the Red Bulls will try to maintain their form and provide service to Angel and Altidore (if he plays) in dangerous spots.
NEWS: Marc Burch has been promoted from developmental to senior roster, a deserved move. What that means for the overall roster is that United is less likely to add a senior player before the Sept. 14 roster deadline. One developmental slot is open, but no senior positions.
DCU LINEUP
Perkins; Namoff, McTavish, Vanney, Burch; Fred, Simms, Gomez, Olsen; Moreno, Emilio.
Once again, NO BOSWELL.
NY LINEUP
Waterreus; Freeman, Mendes, Parke, Leitch; Richards, Vide, Mathis, van den Bergh; Wolyniec, Angel.
Reyna not on active roster.
You know the drill: Pregame, in-game and postgame comments here, following by a new thread very late tonight with player ratings and other tasty morsels.
