Matchday: USA-Sweden
For those of you at work, I hope you remembered to program your DVR/TiVo for Fox Soccer Channel or Galavision.
For those of you with access to video, please join us for in-game commentary. If all goes well at the Chinese Embassy and my visa is ready (for Women's World Cup next month), I plan to find a local establishment to conduct my live online chat at 1 p.m., watch the match, perhaps offer some thoughts, and then head to RFK for DCU-RBNY.
To get things started, let's speculate on the USA starting lineup.
Can we all agree that Tim Howard will start in goal and Landon Donovan and Brian Ching will both be on the field? Bradley might leave Ching up top as a solo forward and drop Donovan underneath, or he could pair 'em up.
Lots of options on defense. I've got a feeling it will be Bocanegra and Onyewu in the middle, Bornstein and Cherundolo on the corners, with Spector and DeMerit in reserve. In midfield, Beasley, Bradley, Feilhaber and Dempsey, with Convey and Mastroeni in reserve, but don't be surprised if Mastroeni gets a start in place of the transitioning Feilhaber to provide some more bite.
This is a good challenge for the U.S. lads on the road against a quality European opponent. Should be fun. Enjoy!
