Expansion Draft Etc.
[UPDATED! The list below is 100 percent accurate -- MLS just put out the official release.]
I am told DCU has lost Brian Carroll in the expansion draft. Awaiting official confirmation and the complete draft list very soon.
I hear SJ has taken:
CARROLL (D.C.)
Cochrane (Houston)
Goodson (Dallas)
Grabovoy (Columbus)
Riley (N.E.)
Vide (N.Y.)
Guerrero (Chicago)
J. Hernandez (Chivas)
Glinton (L.A.)
Pozniak (Toronto)
Meanwhile.....
*No truth to the Honduran media reports that Luciano Emilio is about to leave DCU. The club exercised the option on his contract for 2008 and, unless a massive offer from overseas lands on Kevin Payne's desk, he's not going anywhere. That said, his agent, Alexander Solis, tells me that he and the club have begun discussions about a pay raise. "We're talking right now, trying to get something done. Talks continue," he said. "He wants to stay in D.C. He loves D.C."
*Sources tell me that the recently retired Eddie Pope has had discussions with DCU, among other teams, about working for the club in some capacity (front office seems more likely than assistant coach).
*Don't be surprised to hear about trades being made in the coming days. Galaxy defender Troy Roberts might be on the move, perhaps to San Jose.
