As we await DCU's signing of Veron, MLS to officially unveil the new foreign player guidelines we've already told you about and the Red Bulls to hire a coach, let's have some fun on the international front.

FIFA today unveiled the finalists for the men's and women's player of the year awards:

MEN: Lionel Messi (Argentina, Barcelona), Kaka (Brazil, AC Milan) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal, Manchester United).
WOMEN: Marta (Brazil), Cristiane (Brazil) and Birgit Prinz (Germany).

Click on the player's name for biographical information. The winners will be named Dec. 17 in Zurich.

I'm going with Kaka and Marta.
