United's Protected List
The Soccer Insider has learned that DCU has protected the following players for Wednesday's expansion draft, which will supply San Jose with its first 10 players:
Perkins
Boswell
Namoff
McTavish
Burch
Fred
Simms
Gomez
Olsen
Moreno
Emilio
So United will risk losing Vanney (older; hefty salary) in order to protect Boswell (younger; low salary). They will risk losing Carroll (mediocre year; moderate salary) to protect Simms (good year; low salary).
Kpene and Dyachenko are also available. So is Gros, but he is likely to retire.
Do you agree with DCU's decisions? And if you are in charge of the Earthquakes, who would you select? Or would you pass on all of DCU's available players? (Three current teams will not lose anyone.)
The league had intended to release the protected list for all teams Tuesday afternoon, but I am hearing that it might come out tonight.
