DCU Post-Draft News

According to DCU General Manager Dave Kasper, team captain Jaime Moreno will sign a new contract next week that is guaranteed for the 2008 and '09 seasons, but at a lower salary than he had been making.

"Where he is in his career, he wanted security. It's important to him. He had some good offers out there from Mexico, the Middle East. He's an important player that goes well beyond the playing field."

On Christian Gomez.....

"He's taking the entire transfer window to sort out his options. I believe he still wants to play in MLS."

But with training camp about to begin, how much longer can you wait?

"Not very much longer. We need a decision, we need a quick decision."

On Luciano Emilio.....

"Luciano would like to be rewarded for being an MVP. We've told him, even if we wanted to reward you, the league would not reward you right now after the first year. In South America, players, when they have great seasons, they expect to be rewarded. So it's a bit of a process explaining how things work here."

On Morelia's interest.....

"They had contact with us. It led to nothing."

On the possibility of adding several foreign players soon.....

" We are ready to finalize. We're all but done on several deals."
