On the USA Front.....

Before I open the forum for USA-Sweden (8:30 ET, Fox Soccer Channel) pregame, in-game and postgame thoughts, a few items to share:

*A source tells me that Eric Wynalda, who has been bumped from ESPN's MLS coverage in favor of John Harkes, has been moved to the network's European Champions League coverage.

*I've been told that Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., is at the top of the list for being named venue for the USA's first World Cup qualifier in June against Barbados or Dominica. The venue is also a front-runner to host the semifinal-round match in October against Cuba (assuming both advance). That would leave the September game against T&T and the November match against Guatemala with undetermined home sites.

*According to European media reports, upcoming USA friendlies will include a March 26 game at Poland and a June 4 match at Spain.

*Finally, you may be wondering who is midfielder Keith Savage of the University of West Florida, Chivas USA's only selection in the MLS draft, taken with the first pick of the fourth round. Turns out, he has U.S. national team connections. His father is Bruce Savage, who earned 16 caps between 1983 and 1992, played for Atlanta, Fort Lauderdale and Team America in the NASL and spent a decade with the indoor Baltimore Blast.

Okay, commence USA-Sweden discussion.....
