Houston, Too Close to New Orleans

Jerry lives!

Before I head to the airport for a flight to Houston, a few topics to discuss:

*Chivas USA has already signed Swiss World Cup midfielder Raphael Wicky. Is the club now about to lure Paraguayan legend Jose Cardozo, who will turn 37 next month, out of retirement?

*Are the Revs pursuing Alajuela forward Victor Nunez? Costa Rican reports say so.

*NBA star Steve Nash sees promise in the new women's soccer league.

*Thursday's semifinals for the Africa Cup of Nations are set: Cameroon-Ghana and Egypt-Ivory Coast.

*The latest from the Christian Gomez saga: Colorado and the Argentine midfielder were preparing to finalize a deal late last night. Perhaps a trade announcement today? Tomorrow? By the end of the week?

*MLS officials say that complete team schedules will definitely be released Thursday.

I hope to rejoin you from Houston tonight. Meantime, feel free to use this thread for discussion on all footy topics.
