Seattle Sound

See them running heading homeward to Seattle

*While Philadelphia will step into the spotlight next week when the city/area/region is formally introduced as MLS's 16th club, Seattle is preparing to start play next year. Top priority: Nickname and logo. Indications are that both will be unveiled in the next 12 days or so.

What would you like to see the Seattle side be called?

While you are pondering that.....

*MLS preseason continues tonight with the first match of the Central Coast Showcase at Cal Poly SLO featuring the Earthquakes and Crew. On Sunday afternoon San Jose will face D.C. United.

*Dema Kovalenko is on the move again. After playing in Chicago, D.C., his native Ukraine and New York, the snarling midfielder is off to Real Salt Lake for a draft pick. His $197,000 price tag last year was too steep for the Red Bulls, who appear to be clearing space for the addition of a foreign midfielder.

*Bolton supporters are upset about their treatment by Spanish police this week. Say all you want about the problems with fans and security in Italy, England and other league, Spain has not exactly exhibited the finest model of behavior in recent years (racism, xenophobia, etc.).

More news later, including a possible significant MLS signing. Maybe.
