Yes, There Is Non-VW News
Fred (quadriceps) practiced, Devon McTavish (foot) did not, Marcelo Gallardo and Domenic Mediate jogged on the side. Don't expect an appearance on Thursday against Chicago by McTavish, who said: "I could wake up in the morning and feel amazing, but that has not happened yet."
DCU Prez Kevin Payne and GM Dave Kasper have returned from Buenos Aires, where they attended the Boca-River superclasico on Sunday.
What was the purpose of your journey?
"A business trip," Kasper said.
Who did you meet with?
"Several individuals."
Did you meet with any players?
"It's possible."
Players under contract?
"No."
Players not under contract?
"I'm not going to comment on who exactly we met with."
So what's the situation?
"It's just part of the process of going to South America several times a year to keep options open and identify possible options."
Translation: No imminent signings but perhaps a move this summer.
As for DCU's talks with Nantes player development official Laurent Guyot about joining the club's front office, Kasper said: "We had a first meeting. It was just a chance to share ideas. We'll continue discussions. It may not happen, but it could be a good situation for a relationship in the future."
Big boss Victor MacFarlane addressed the club's stadium pursuits, saying, "I have no on-going negotiations at the moment. I am anticipating additional negotiations with someone very soon."
Where do things stand with the city?
"I continue to hear feedback that something is going to get done. We agreed upon the basic outline of a term sheet months ago, and it is not on us at this point."
How about the talks with PG County and the Maryland Stadium Authority?
"We have not stopped any talks."
So where does the timeline stand now?
"Our goal is still 2011 -- 2012 on the outside -- to have a stadium."
