It's Comcastic

Big week for D.C. United: two-time defending champion Houston in town Wednesday, a trip to Chicago on Saturday, and most importantly, it's United Championship Week on Comcast SportsNet.

Here's the rundown:

Today: Mark Simpson in studio during "Washington Post Live" at 5 p.m. (replay at 11), the top five goals in club history during "SportsNite" at 6, and the 1996 MLS Cup in its entirety at 7 p.m.

Tuesday: Yours truly live from the newsroom during WPL, a look at the cultural diversity of United and soccer during SportsNite and then a showing of the 1997 MLS Cup.

Wednesday: Bruce Arena is studio all evening for WPL, SportsNite and the Houston broadcast, which kicks off at 7:30.

Thursday: Ben Olsen in studio for WPL, a SportsNite look at the World Cup and the broadcast of the 1999 MLS Cup.

Friday: Jaime Moreno in studio for WPL, SportsNite looks back at the 2004 Eastern Conference final against New England, and then the 2004 MLS Cup.

Other United tidbits.....

*"Forza Italia: The Italian Triumph in the 2006 World Cup," written by DCU broadcaster Tony Limarzi is available through and at the team store at RFK soon.

*Congrats to United defender Gonzalo Peralta and family on the arrival of their second child, Mateo.

I'll leave you with some serious strummin' from rock legend Bo Diddley, who has passed away at age 79:
