Matchnight: DCU at Chicago
Greetings from Bridgeview.
A brief rainstorm passed through Chicagoland, maybe more later. Very humid, nice breeze, immaculate pitch.
UPDATE: The Bridgeview tornado siren -- yes, tornado siren -- was wailing for a few minutes. The gates have remained closed and we could have a delay. First Wednesday's rainout, now this.
UPDATE: The tornado threat has passed, the teams are warming up, but heavy rain reminiscent of Wednesday at RFK is falling.
Media watch.....
*DCU supporters will recognize a familiar voice on the Fox Soccer Channel broadcast: the omnipresent Dave Johnson (Comcast SportsNet, Washington Wizards radio, WTOP Radio, etc.), who has joined the classy Christopher Sullivan in the booth. Kickoff at 8:30 p.m. ET.
*I picked up the esteemed Chicago Tribune today and thought I had come to the wrong city. Not a word about the DCU-Fire match. Actually, I take that back: One paragraph on the scoreboard page. Wow, really?
Hope you enjoyed the Euro matches. Switzerland deserved better and, despite hitting the woodwork a few times, Portugal prevailed as expected.
Back soon with DCU's lineup and subs. I fully expect the same 11 and same 18 as the other night. UPDATE: Everything is, indeed, the same. Wells; Namoff, Peralta, McTavish, Martinez; Quaranta, Simms, Gallardo, Fred; Moreno, Emilio. Subs: Carvallo, Burch, Mediate, Cordeiro, Kirk, Dyachenko, Niell.
As usual, this is the place for pregame, in-game and postgame discussion.
Commence, lads.
