Show Us the Money
That pay raise D.C. United quietly gave Luciano Emilio a few weeks ago, elevating him to designated player status? The details:
His base salary increased from $285,000 to $425,000 (a jump of nearly 50 percent) and his guaranteed compensation from $313,125 to $453,125.
Forward Francis Doe, acquired by United after the season started, will earn $33,000/40,500. Last year with New York, he was at $48,000/48,000.
Other late arrivals around the league.....
Toronto's Amado Guevara is on $162,000/185,700. He was making $250,000 and $291,250 with Chivas USA last year before being let go.
TFC is also paying Olivier Tebily $156,960/156,960 and Rohan Ricketts $200,004/212,504.
Columbus's Emmanuel Ekpo is earning $101,500/123,750.

If the league can afford to pay these wages. Then they can afford to raise the league minimum from $33,000!!!

Yeah, but last year Amado was being paid in Pesos, now he's being paid in Loonies... The math is to much for me...

Can someone remind me how long we hold Colorado's DP option?
Are we in a position that we'll have to sell/trade either Emilio or Gallardo at the end of the 08 season (and in the middle of the Champions League)?

HAVE to sell Emilio?? With each goal he scores, another bag is packed. We WANT to sell Emilio: he won't be with us much longer.

If I remember correctly, it's totally confusing and not really explainable. But I do think we're good with two slots thru the 2009 season.

Emilio is scoring goals. Keep him.

When exactly did Emilio's pay raise go through? Immediately preceding his newfound hunger/eye for the goal, perhaps? The way he was sleepwalking (sulking?) through the first month+ of the season, I find this news very interesting.
