DCU Update

A few items to share.....

*No trialists today, maybe next week.

*Gonzalo Peralta did not practice again because of illness and, considering he has just recovered from a sports hernia injury, is unlikely to be in uniform tomorrow night against Kansas City. Francis Doe (foot infection) is also sidelined, but everyone else worked out is varying capacities. That does not mean you will see Marcelo Gallardo or Santino Quaranta on the field tomorrow, but it is an encouraging sign for a club beset with injuries and approaching another busy stretch in August and September.

*Newcomer Ivan Guerrero has arrived and will wear No. 12.

*Guerrero says he has spoken to the Honduran federation and expects to be called in for the Mexico qualifier on Aug. 20.

*Guerrero, on joining DCU: "I am very happy because, for me, United is the best team in the league. There are a lot of good players here. It is a great opportunity for me."

*Guerrero, on whether he will play tomorrow: "I want to play but it is the coach's decision. I am ready to play. I feel comfortable with everyone."

*GM Dave Kasper, on the search for a goalkeeper to battle Zach Wells for playing time: "We are making progress. Something could happen relatively soon."

A reminder: The international transfer window closes Aug. 15, but some foreign players will still be available to MLS teams because of their free agency status. The trade deadline is mid-September.

*Non-DCU item: Goalkeeper Brad Guzan has acquired a British work permit and has officially moved from Chivas USA to Aston Villa.
