Among the other matches today.....

Uruguay-Colombia
Canada-Honduras
France-Austria
Saudi Arabia-Iran
Spain-Bosnia
Israel-Switzerland
Ecuador-Bolivia
El Salvador-Haiti

Follow the matches at FIFA's Web site.

I will attempt to create USA-Cuba and DCU-San Jose threads later from Estadio Pedro Marrero here in Havana.....

Gol TV has some interesting live matches today.

2:45 pm -
UEFAWCQ - Liechtenstein vs. Germany

4:45 pm -
UEFAWCQ - Spain vs. Bosnia

I am surprised FSC doesn't have more games.

The Wales v Azerbaijan game has been interesting so far - the Azerbaijani goalkeeper will be getting some calls here soon. A fine performance.

I'm remotely interested in Hungary v Denmark (which will be on FSC). The Spain match has the potential to be interesting as well.

Germany? No thanks.

Anybody care to speculate why Adu and Altidore get to "settle in with their new clubs" rather than make the trip to Cuba, but Michael Bradley gets no such luxury with Monchengladbach?

Spain hasn't lost in forever...

Wales poked one in late to get the victory...ugly goal, but it counts.

Not many games I'm interested in today.

RE: "settling in with a new club" - add EJ to this list as well, now that he has been loaned out to Cardiff City. Bradley obviously has his favorites... but Adu, Altidore, Cooper apparently aren't there yet.

RE: Paraguay-Argentina - HUGE game in CONMEBOL! The top two teams in the group battling it out for the number one spot. Paraguay looks to have Santa Cruz ready to go up top, but no Cabanas. ¬°FUERZA ALBIROJA!

M. Bradley has to help his dady from becoming a desaster and being a son he becomes valuable.

So the USA game is listed as starting at 7:10, but ESPN is showing the game at 8:00. They are saying it is live.

So does that game start at 7:10 or 8? Is ESPN really showing this game tape-delayed?

bob bradley has never said adu and altidore were ommitted in order to allow them to settle into their new clubs. that theory was created by media and fans.

espn classic is showing the match live at 8 p.m.

Is there a time zone difference? Among other things, most tropical countries don't have DST. Since they have something close to 12 hours of daylight the year round, it would be pointless.

Is there any chance the USA cuba match will be called off due to hurricane?

.........................................

No. The next hurricane is at least 48 hours away from western Cuba.

Is Jeff Nelson, who did the DCU-SJ preview, also be covering the game? Is he a stringer? What's his background? Will he be online with us during the game tonight?

Posted by: The Jeff | September 6, 2008 1:57 PM | Report abuse

I wonder whether Vedad Ibisevic, the former St. Louis University star who now plays in the Bundesliga, will be playing for Bosnia against Spain.

Posted by: The Jeff | September 6, 2008 2:06 PM | Report abuse

No hurricanes in Cuba. Hot and humid, mostly sunny.

Jeff Nelson is based in Washington, one of several part-time writers for The Post. Ridge Mahoney of Soccer America will cover the game for us; he will not be blogging here.

There's a Salvadorean restaurant in Gaithersburg that will have the El Salvador Vs Haiti game via closed circuit tv tonight (in addition to the USA and DCU game). For those interested:
