Long Live the King
As part of the Insider's continuing effort to mix soccer with music, cinema and culture, today we celebrate the 74th anniversary of Elvis Presley's birth by dedicating songs performed by the king of rock 'n' roll to those in our grand sport.
First, special recognition to Scottish defender Steven Pressley, Honduran midfielder Elvis Turcios, Ghana-born and England-based forward Elvis Hammond, former Croatia defender Elvis Brajkovic, English defender Ledley King, Seattle midfielder Stephen King, Jamaican forward Marlon King, former MetroStars forward Sergio Galvan Rey, Benfica forward Jose Reyes and, of course, Pele (O Rei).
Jailhouse Rock
Stephen Gerrard, Liverpool captain and England star, was arrested Monday in connection with an alleged assault at a nightclub.
Devil in Disguise
Marco "El Diablo" Etcheverry entered the coaching ranks last month by accepting the top job with Aucas, a second-division club in Ecuador.
Return to Sender
Brazilian bust Denilson might go down as the biggest marquee flop in MLS history. But considering the amount of money it has invested in a certain Argentine playmaker, D.C. United better see production from a healthy Marcelo Gallardo this season -- or else.
Blue Hawaii
Both the USA men's and women's national teams have forwards from the 50th state: Brian Ching and Natasha Kai.
Any Day Now
D.C. United will have a new stadium.
Hound Dog
How 'bout them Pittsburgh Riverhounds?!
I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry
The plight of the solo forward in a 4-5-1.
Viva Las Vegas
MLS in the desert? Bad idea. Good riddance to that expansion proposal.
Blue Suede Shoes
Cristiano Ronaldo and John Terry were among the players who began wearing azur boots.
Heartbreak Hotel (Vintage video here)
By losing to Columbus in MLS Cup, the MetroStars/Red Bulls extended their streak without a major championship to 13 seasons.
Suspicious Minds
Columbus accused expansion Seattle of tampering in pursuit of Coach Sigi Schmid. A settlement was reached.
Impossible Dream
D.C. United will have a new stadium.
A Little Less Conversation
The great Nike ad from 2002 with maestro Cantona, Ronaldinho, Davids, Roberto Carlos, Saviola, Ronaldo, Crespo, Totti, Henry, et al.
I welcome your Elvis-inspired soccer references in the comments section. Thankyouverymuch.

I hate Fenty for being a liar. But, I suppose he's only following the example given to him by Bush.
