Um, no Gallardo update -- I do sleep at night.

If anything of substance develops with Gallardo or Gomez, I will share it asap.

Very sad news about Crayton. My condolences for this terrible loss. Louis, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

RIP Mrs. Clayton.

Finally some live and same-day-taped midweek games on FSC.

Indeed, Louis has our condolences, especially so because he's so well-liked by DCU fans. He's an emotional guy, so it's easy to imagine this is hitting him very hard.

On other fronts, why isn't Buona Condoul in any team's camp? Has his stock really fallen?

Vedad Ibisevic is out for the year. Is this what happens to those who spurn Uncle Sam? Is Subotic next? I'm kidding...On the other hand, if the Bayern thing doesn't work out for Donovan, I imagine Hoffenheim could use a striker. I bet they'd meet MLS' price....

How can you sleep at night when there are so many uncertainties with DC's lineup?

Posted by: sitruc | January 27, 2009 11:13 AM | Report abuse

@sitruc,

Because Steve is letting us do the worrying for him.

@ I-270Exit1,

I'm also sure John Thain can fit in a year's worth to post his resume, just gotta reallocate that office decorating budget.

I think DCU is going to do surprinsingly good this year without big star names. DCU is usually a team that builds stars, they are not really good at buying them.

Posted by: fedster | January 27, 2009 11:33 AM | Report abuse

Fischy, I think Condoul really wants to play in Europe, so thats why he hasn't been mentioned in any MLS camps. And I'm assuming you do know that Ibisevic doesn't even have the chance to turn down the US, as he's not even a citizen.

re: the conditions in columbus come game day, could mexico lodge a complaint w/ FIFA if the pitch is frozen or snow-covered when clearly a better alternative is available?

Posted by: willykirk | January 27, 2009 12:08 PM | Report abuse

As host, USSF picks the site. If it's frozen, they reschedule. If it's snowy, they kick around a miniature version of the Syracuse mascot.

What do they do if it is smoggy (like in Ciudad de Mexico)?

The first time I read that, I went "Wait a minute... Doug Warren isn't Cuban!"

Oh, the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful;
And since there's no place to go,
Let it snow*, let it snow, let it snow!

(Live from the hills of southern Ohio)

* And ice, and rain, and snow again...

Yeah, like Etcheverry, Moreno, Harkes, Adu and Olsen. All players that nobody wanted anything to do with but tehy became stars here in DC.
