Greetings from RFK

*Taiwo Atieno, a 6-foot-2, English-born forward who played for the USL1's Puerto Rico Islanders last season, has begun a trial with D.C. United. The 23-year-old with Kenyan roots has played for an assortment of clubs in England.

*During a full-field workout, Ben Olsen scored on a nice one-timer.

*Contracts for Roger and Andrew Jacobson are close to being finalized, while talks continue with rookie keeper Milos Kocic.

*Honduran forward Walter Martinez, whom United was aggressively pursuing, has officially gone on a six-month loan with Spanish second-division club Alaves. He played 27 minutes during a 1-1 tie with Salamanca yesterday.

Much more to come on the Insider soon. Also, Sports Bog Dan Steinberg is on site and will have plenty to share later today and tomorrow.

Ahhhh fiddle sticks! Too bad about Walter"handballz"Martinez.
I'm very curious about them keeping Kocic. His confidence, trumps Wells instantly in my opinion. With Crayton's status a bit of a question mark at the moment... Dang that smaller roster sure is starting to smart a bit.

I also had some tears well up in my eyes and some chills when you said Benny scored! Thanks for the update and heads up on Steinz in the cut. Will you be heading down to Florida at any point in the not so distant future Goff?

I did a quick search of Atieno and found some information on him on the Kitterminster site. It said he came in highly touted but failed to impress with them because of his "laid back attitude". It sounded like he has talent but may be lacking desire.

I'm more interested to hear how Benny's doing tomorrow. More specifically, how his ankles are doing tomorrow.

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.

Goff/Steinberg is always a great double-team combination :-)

Too bad Wells couldn't wait until United was able to convince Kocic to take a smaller paycheck ..... now it's even more readily important to sign the kid.

Thanks for all the continuing info!

What are the odds of United's flight to Florida being delayed by snow?

I've seen Taiwo play a lot. He is big & strong. He is one of the guys that Clarke brought to PR. He has ability and he has potential. He was a key in some of the Islander's good league results last season.
