Denmark, Iceland, Norway, and a team coached by a Swede. What? They couldn't stuff Finland in our group too?

July 5 -- Marta at SoccerPlex, FSC telecast 6pm.

WPS schedule lists all Freedom home games at Plex, none announced as double-headers. The only possible double-header dates appear to be May 23, July 18 and August 8.

no, no, 270. finland isn't scandinavian. finland is nordic. petty difference, but i'm a petty person.

i can't wait for the cup. last year Heather O'Reilly gave her cleats to my son. what other world class sporting events can you walk down and talk to the players? and the games are free!

kai really broke through at last year's cup. lot of new faces in this roster.

How about an Algarve Cup sendoff match in Blaine? I'll bring the usual tuna-and-cream-of-mushroom-soup hot dish to the tailgate.

no, no, 270. finland isn't scandinavian. finland is nordic.

Actually, if you know your European history, you'll realize that every country in northern Europe, from Ireland to Russia, is Scandinavian. Those Vikings got around. Did you know that the cities of Dublin and Liverpool, among others, were founded by Vikings? And it works the other way, too. A recent analysis of Icelandic DNA revealed a lot of Scottish and Irish ancestry.

Damn that DNA for its iconoclastic treatment of race and culture :-)
